A superhero is an individual who uses an ability whether it be genetic, magical, or technological, to perform feats that would be considered unachievable by the average human being, in the pursuit of upholding justice or fighting evil. Batman is an example of someone who walks a fine line, but he has such unimaginable riches, peak physical attributes that have been shown to be well above what is even thought possible for a human, and genius level intelligence, that is all combines to make him something that is basically impossible to emulate for the average human being, therefore, superhero. Iron Man also walks a fine line, but he has such genius level intelligence, and a countless number of inventions linked to him that essentially allow him to be a portable military base, that he qualifies as a superhero. In theory, someone could become as smart as Tony and go on to invent the same level of inventions, and they would then be considered a superhero, but only because 99.9% of all people couldn't even dream of doing that in the first place, let alone actually achieve it. And what is also important to remember - these are fucking comic books, the shit these dudes are doing without actual "superpowers" is still not realistic. Nobody is actually capable of inventing a fully automated nanosuit that can spawn around their body at the press of a button, or inventing time travel on a whim, or using a cape to float and fight 10 guys at the same time with your bare hands in a bulletproof suit. If a comic book character is doing some shit that would be literally impossible by a human being in the real world, they're a superhero. All these same descriptions apply to supervillains too.
I agree. They are no different from other superhuman characters like Captain America, Daredevil, Bullseye, and especially Taskmaster lol. They all either have low level superpowers, abilities that can blend in well and be mistaken as normal human capabilities, or abilities that are not visible to the average person.

I get the “Gotham is riddled with crime” take but at the end of the day it’s humans or well villains (because I know there’s no way you’re calling them supervillains being taken out by a “hero”) but have you seen how many times Metropolis gets invaded, enslaved, and blown up with a corrupt businessman who basically owns the whole city trying to kill Superman (THE GUY WHO STOPS THE ALIEN INVASIONS). There’s levels to the threats you face in each city, sure Metropolis is generally safer than Gotham but when the threats come after Superman I guarantee you’d rather be in Gotham.
