I am a bit behind, but in Calm the Chaos chapter I love how Max describes our needs for different occasions: strength-God, friendship- Jesus, trounced and anxious times- Holy Spirit, who gives us the “tranquil assurance of a loving mother”. This really helps my understanding of the Trinity.
Jesus reiterates throughout four gospels dozens of times to BE ONLY WITH THE FATHER. This is sometimes IMPLICITLY stated by Him "I am in the Father and the Father in me" " I and the Father are ONE" "You neither know me nor the Father" " My Father works now, so I work."...sometimes even EXPLICITLY "Yet, I am not ALONE, but I and the Father who sent me are one." " ...no man knows, no, not the ANGELS in heaven or the SON, but the FATHER ONLY KNOWS.". (even ANGELS and MEN are included in that list of potential candidates, but no third divine person is present). But Jesus also states that the "Holy Spirit is a divine person". How is this possible? Simply THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE FATHER who is with Him, it's just AN EQUIVALENT NAME for "the Father". In other words Jesus has the "FATHER who is a SPIRIT" (Jn. 4:23,24) and calls Him either "Holy Father" or "Holy Spirit" according to circumstances. The name "Holy Spirit" is the "spirit-name" of that SPIRIT - who is the Father. It's used by Jesus TO IDENTIFY that SPIRIT among other spirits. This means that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit means blasphemy against the Father. He is "greater than Jesus", this is why that blasphemy is considered more severe by Jesus. This means that - when Jesus was baptized - the Holy Spirit - the Father in the form of a spirit - was there SPEAKING. Mary: of course the Father of Jesus can only be.....the Father. Thus the Holy Spirit with Mary was the Father who is a spirit...Thus, you clearly see that the HOLY SPIRIT IS THE FATHER (who is a spirit). But this means that the Comforter cannot be the Holy Spirit because surely the COMFORTER IS NOT THE FATHER. Indeed no sign whatever of the Comforter in Jesus' life. This means that most probably a scoundrel added the words "ho hagios pneuma" (the Holy Spirit) between "paracletos" and "ho hos ho pater" in Jn. 14:26. That "Spirit who is the Father" - i.e. that "Spirit who is God" - is also called "Spirit of God" (see Mt. 3:16).

I have a hard time not reading ahead, there is so much good, deep information which I believe is heavily influenced by the Holy Spirit.
