We need to be open to the Holy Spirit who is at work powerfully through us. I’m glad to listen to Max in His journey with the Holy Spirit. I am also in the same journey and allowing Him to work and grant gifts to be used for God’s glory just as He gave in the days of Pentecost. I wasn’t taught this way in my traditional church.
What a wonderful interview with Max Lucado. He is so humble and transparent. His description of the Holy Spirit is so compelling and clear! Thank you Lord for Max Lucado's testimony!
This is amazing. I'm so thrilled to hear this. The Early Church was birthed in the pentecostal experience: speaking in tongues as the Spirit give the utterance. God is doing a mighty work in our time where denominational lines are being broken down and the unity of the Body is being built together (dry bones receiving the Wind). I believe we will see the reconciliation of the fulfillment of John 17 in my lifetime. If we would obey the comman of Christ to seek it. "That they may be One!"
Max is so right about churches being steeped into politics rather than the teachings of Jesus; loving thy neighbor, taking care of the poor the sick and the least of these. And the Holy Spirit is what we need to set us back on the right spiritual track. And Jesus himself was not taken seriously and even misunderstood by his own disciples because everyone expected Jesus to be this political revolutionary who would come and overthrow the government, but He didn't come to Judge the world but to Save it by giving up his life, as a servant. And that's our role. Not to establish some Christian Nation but rather to serve the poor and the hurting and the lost, in love, not judgmental hate or condemnation , but love.
This is POWERFUL, MAX LUCADO... Be free, completely free, from all Old habits of cautiousness and resistance. Thank you for sharing, I pray for your COMPLETE understanding and embracing ALL that Holy Spirit will do in our lives and in our church. You are still walking safe.
Excellent topic and Max, as always, gives serene, sensitive, and insightful responses. He’s also genuine, revealing his truth in honesty. Asking Max questions in the third person vernacular by repeating “What would Max Lucado do,”What’s Max Lucado’s reaction…” as opposed to personalizing “you” was either distracting to me or felt like you are questioning an idol and not a humble man.
I understand and know you are correct. The Holy Spirit will change your life and work through you to bring others to Christ. I just got your new book at the library. Thank you so much.
This is exactly what we need!! Thank you max. Everything you have said is very true and I myself have experienced many of these things from the Holy spirit. Thank you for sharing.
Max handles this matter as he handles every matter; with truth, grace and love. So good! I also grew up in Church circles like Max, that never taught on the person and power of the Holy Spirit. But then I began (at the age of 15yrs old) to get into scriptures (particularly New Testament) for myself. And what I saw in the Early Church and Epistles, I did not see in myself, but knew that I should. So I began as Paul the Apostle said, "To desire and seek the gifts of the Holy Spirit." And lo and behold... I received the power of the Holy Spirit, and yes spoke in other tongues (as recorded in the book of Acts). It was power and beautiful all at once. And is Max is right, it's not a one-time experience. We need to be continually filled (as the disciples were) every day for empowerment to do what God has called each of us to do. "We were created TO DO good works!" And Jesus said that Holy Spirit is our Helper in doing that! He gives us an advantage. Thank you Church Leader friends for doing this podcast. God is breaking down walls of division in His Church, and I believe He is using content like this to do that.
So you have sold all your belongings too as they did? Or did you pick what is good for you? I can guarantee you did not speak in other tongues except blabber. Care to make some videos of this gift? Lucado is a money making blasphemer and God is still blinding you as well. Why is much of the NT warning about false teaching?
I do agree with most of what Max says. But the baptism of the Holy Spirit is d is efferent the sad n the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is available to every Chritian. Everything ok ng Max is saying is right on except for this part. Even though Max says he NEVER brings up about his speaking in tongues, it is perfectly acceptable to talk about it. If we never talk about it, others may never realize the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues is even available to them. There is balance needed in all of this. I do realize there are times God will baptize a person in the Holy Spirit without them knowing about it or know what it is. Years ago, shortly after I accepted Christ, I was in a woman's group. I saw Jesus walking through the tables of ladies. At times, He stopped to minister to a lady. Then He came up to my right side, placing Hish as nd in my right shoulder. I loved Him so I much, I asked His to give me everything He had for me. At thet momnt I was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke 3 words in tongues. I had no idea what happened, had never been taught anything about the Holy Spirit or tongues. My bible teacher, a lovely older lady, explained it to me. It was wonderful. Eventually, my heavenly langue flowed and has for over 40 years. Don't get discouraged if you don't receive right away, wait in God expectantly for God to fill you and loose your tongue to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Even if, like me, at first you only have 3 words to speak. Be faithful in speaking whatever words that come to you to say. Eventually, your heavenly language will flow.💖 Shor
In scripture we see there are two types of tongues. One is a prayer language that edifies you. This is available to all believers and it sounds like that is what Max has been exercising. The other is the gift of tongues and interpretations. This is for edification of the church and that's why it needs translation.
Can anyone pray for Craig. He is in hospital. He has no God factor in his life. Pray::1) that God will give Craig good health. 2) so that Craig can read Bible for himself. 3) bible is being sent to Craig as soon as possible. 4) IAM told Craig had a mild heart attack recently. Thank you. God bless
Ironically, it is “secularism” that conditions us to believe that we need a “supernatural experience” on the order described by Lucado here in order to truly believe and experience life in Christ. This is absolutely not what we find to be normative in the life of the church. Rather, what is normative is growth in Godliness as we patiently study God’s Word, allowing our understanding of reality to be molded by the reality that we find described in the pages of Scripture. The power of the Holy Spirit is fully evident in the resulting radical changes to hearts and patterns of thought.
There are only three instances in scripture that tell us of believers recieving the Holy Spirit and what happened when they recieved. In each instance the first thing that happened when they recieved they spoke in tongues.( Acts ch 2,10,and ch.19). Speaking in " tongues" isn't speaking in unlearned native languages it is what Paul called the unknown tongue " that no man knoweth". If no man knows it then its not a native language, but a spiritual language. ( 1Cor.14:2).
NIV 1 Cor 14:2 For he who speaks in tongues does not speak to people but to God. Indeed no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. Ephesians 6:18 And Pray in the Spirit in all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Jude 1:20 NIV But you dear friends, by building yourself up in your most holy faith and Praying in the Holy Spirit. Praying in tongues privately helps us to speak to God and builds us up. In church however, it should be interpreted so that all my be edified. 1 Cor 14:18 Paul said, I thank God I speak in tongues more than you all. However, in the church, I prefer to speak plainly so that people may understand and be edified. I would assume that Paul spoke in tongues during his private time with the Lord. Hope this helps.
Revival needs believers to actually repent and believe and live in obedience. It doesn't need what we see today - a bunch of kids jumping around not even knowing the gospel. The gospel is the power of God to salvation. Not jumping around which is not in the Bible. Oh wait David danced - not in the Church!
I can relate: I received my prayer language at age 57. Game changer!
Lucado’s realization is a game changer for the church that lacks the Holy Ghost

I found this interview extremely interesting, challenging, and informative. Max's sincerity and humility are commendable.
Thank you Max for your openness and willingness to share on topics that hard. I read your book Help Is Here. Awesome!!! Thank you!
Love this! It is so on target.
Amen!!!God's timing never fails!
God bless you
Love my prayer language - has changed my prayer life - so happy for Max Lucado who has now experienced the same
Tremendous. Thank you.

Yes you needed to tell about you praying in tongues so others will know they can have the same gift.
All we will ever need is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Could you put subtitles in English, so I can translate into Portuguese? I don't understand English very well and I wish I could watch the video.

Just one question; why do we only hear about the speaking and not the interpretation?
