    Upgrading a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF Tower
    I migrate a graphics card from a Dell Precision 380. First, I made sure both towers were running and all components were working. Check out the time stamps and focus on the areas you need. Watching the whole thing might be a bit boring otherwise :)

    One year later, I watched this video for a refresher. The only issue is that my Hard drive is ready to fail, and I want to install a Solid State Drive , but without the hard drive like you did. I would like to find an adapter to properly hold the SSD. I've seen soooo many choices so I'm looking to your infinite wisdom to guide me to the right one. Any and all suggestions are fully welcome.

    Many thank for the install of a SSD. I have been having an issue printing from the computer (dell OptiPlex 780 runs great!). I get white vertical line across the printed page. I went though every diagnosis that would cause it to be a printer issue, Cartridges, new cable. My last thought was to print directly to the printer (HP envy 5530). Guess what happened? No lines, picture was perfect. I even place a new picture onto the computer, printed from the computer, line are back, print directly (over wifi) not issue. This has been an issue for about a month. Black and white documents no issue. I've tried in every other usb port no change. I did notice the wifi direct print prints at a slower pace, computer print will be fast and with lines. I'm really stuck. Any help would be greatfull!

    • @HaisteComputerRepair

      When you said you printed directly to the printer do you mean printing a test page? As in, not connected to the PC at all?

    • @donm3129

      @@HaisteComputerRepair My printer has direct printing from other sources, so I isolated the printer using my cell phone and my iPad. I actually set up the printer as a network through my router and the lines were still there. Any printing through the computer creates the lines. I'm now wondering if its a computer issue. I have tried the printer though every other usb port with the same issue.

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  Рік тому

      You can install Windows 10 again via USB after you install the SSD, if you like. If you have access to another computer and ability to connect both the old HDD/SSD from the 780 and the new SSD to it (usually via usb connection, or internally via sata connection if possible) you can use a program like Macrium Reflect to clone the old HDD to the new SSD. Does that make sense? Let me know if you need any help or clarification.

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 роки тому +2

      It could be any number of things. A quick tip, though: if the operating system is still loading, but it's slow, missing features, or causing blue screens, it may be easy to salvage by simply formatting and wiping the drive best you can. Maybe running some diagnostic software to find out why it's failing to do something before trying to use it again. If nothing happens at all and you can't hear any of the discs spinning, it may need professional service if it can be salvaged at all. Here's a Wikipedia page for reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_disk_drive_failure

Or if you install components and hardware with Windows currently installed, you can press the Windows key on the keyboard, type "update" and click on "check for updates." If this doesn't have favorable results, go to the manufacturer website for whatever hardware or component you are working with an download drivers. This can usually be found by searching on Google. Is 4 sticks 2 GB ram better than 2 sticks of 4 GB ram?

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 роки тому

      2 sticks of 4GB RAM is better when you have the option of dual-channel, such in the case of this motherboard. However, depending on what you are using it for, you may not notice a large difference if you use 4 x 2GB. If it is available to you and within your means, I would go with dual channel.

    There was not much of any solutions for this issue. Most searches came up with printers that do it, which are fairly easy to diagnose, but no computer issues creating the vertical lines. The only way to test my " it's the computer doing it" theory was to borrow a printer that I know works just fine and try that. The results were that it is in fact, somehow the USB ports, yes i tested all of them like before, connected to another printer created the same vertical lines down every print. I did a direct print as I did with my own and it printed just fine. All devices work through all of the USB ports, but just don't print through them. So buddy, that is the conclusion. My Dell OptiPlex 780 that runs like a top has a USB port issue when printing. Comments are always welcome ....
