    Hey, to clarify a few things. The BOT (Bijzonder Ondersteuningsteam) which would translate to 'Special Support Team' is a unit that does not operate for the Dutch Police. This unit is part of the Department of Justice, specifically DV&O 'Dienst Vervoer en Ondersteuning' (Service Transport and Support). They assist in transporting and protecting high-risk detainees.
    About the pants: The reason many of these specialist units wear jeans is very simple. Aside from the standard outfit you have a budget to buy civilian clothing for work. The reason for this is that you are 24/7 on duty and you can be called upon any time of the day, even when it is your off day. Doing your grocery shopping in uniform is not very practical, therefore you get issued a budget to buy civilian clothing to wear while you're on callout duty. If called upon you have to drop whatever you're doing immediately and get to your post. You don't have time to go shower and get dressed in uniform. It is because of this reason you will see most specialists just wearing a mask, helmet, and vest. These things can easily be carried around.
    As for the Glock/Walther firearm on the carrier and leg. This comes down to personal preference. By default, it is issued with a holster for your belt. Some operators choose to carry it on their upper thighs or vest.
    Hope this helps clear some things up.

      also adding to the pants part: this is why if you are married or have a family you always driver your own special car. your wife will drive the family car and the kid. even if your off duty. if they get the call to come in its drop everything kiss your wife good bye walk outside (yes walk because you never ever let people know you are dsi or some type of special force) get in you car put on the mask and go!
      this is also the reason why in every media post online these guys are blur and even the license plate are blur because criminals wild find out where they live. and they will attack

    They do wear jeans since they might also rollout as an observation unit, a scout unit couple km infront of the escort or undercover security at courthouses. They ride prisoners who have a high risk of being freed by professional criminal organisations. Some weeks ago, Ewout (a presenter/reporter) went along with BOT where they explained a lot about it (unfortunately in Dutch, so it would be hard to understand). Right now there is a huge case about the Mocro Maffia in the Netherlands, where the leader of the maffia has tried to plan escapes from his cell or the escorts.

    The pistol on the chest is because they’re main goal is to drive from A to B without any stop, they can reach the pistol way easier when sitting down in the car.
    Fun fact they’re physical admission test is the hardest of all the units in the Netherlands, even the one for DSI.

      Funnily enough we also have a unit that divides part of that up again. AFAIK high risk transports are situated under the HRB (High Risk Security) of the military police. The BOT is specifically for the Justice system, which is why they don't have police on their vests but rather "Justice".

    These teams basically take care of the transport of the top drug criminals in the Netherlands, there has been threats and attempts of hijacking those transports and freeing the prisoners over the years, even one attempt to free someone from prison with a helicopter. Since the drug violence has increased massively in the last decade in the Netherlands these teams were introduced to counter that violence and threat.

    • @VideoDotGoogleDotCom
      @VideoDotGoogleDotCom Рік тому

      Here, in another European country, a minority of people opine that hard drugs should not be illegal, and freeing them would stop the drug crime. That doesn't seem to be the case anywhere. The criminals won't give up their lucrative business. Either they'd still sell drugs in one form or another, or they'd move onto kidnappings, violent burglaries, etc.

      Problem is: the EBI (High Security Prison) is located in Vught and the courts all over the Netherlands, mainly the 'Bunker' in Amsterdam.
      Transport can be over 100 to 200 km (65 to 130 miles) through a densely populated area, with a lot of ambush possibilities.
      There are plans to create a second EBI and a second Bunker (High Risk Court) closer to each other.

    This is pretty much the level of protection when you are talking war criminals who have to be taken to the hague international court. Or when you have people connected to international crime syndicated like ridouan taghi who is being trialed right now. The chances of an attempt to a convoy like this are elevated and the highest state of protection is required.

      Hmmm, this has me wondering..
      These guys fall under the prosecuting side of the judicial system. Transporting detainees of the Netherlands to Dutch facilities.
      With the ICC being a separate entity, technically not even a Dutch one. There's no direct connection between this service and the ICC. But perhaps they're "loaned out" to the ICC upon request?

    • @alex-sm6zh
      @alex-sm6zh 6 місяців тому

      @@sigi9669I think the answer is efficiency and safety related. It’s just way easier to let a specialized group, from the country they are in, do the job. They know the infrastructure, the risks and do it on a daily basis. If the ICC had to train and organize a unit specialized in that specific job, it would just be an unnecessary investment. They would have to pay them full/time, give them something to do and give them bonuses too (due to the high risk and unpredictable work times, even if they have a schedule). Given that the ICC holds some of the most notorious war criminals known to man, it makes them a high-value prisoner extraction (or assassination*) target for associates or terrorists, and the Netherlands (government) would probably feel safer if they know this is being handled by their own professionals on their territory (being a dutchman myself, I do feel safer knowing that our own professionals are handling such HVTs). Gun laws in the netherlands are tight, so I figure that getting good equipment for an ICC transport unit would also be a pain, as it is an international entity.

    The transport is often Audi the big models and extremely fast, cause they also chase criminals some times by car.

    For your question what you have to do to be transported by these guys: There has to be a certain threat of the prisoner being attacked by a third party. For instance we had a head of the Moroccan mafia that has to be transported to court. And for the question of why they wear skinny jeans: They are all "on-call" for a week straight where they could be called to office any time of the day. So they have to respond in a really short time. So pants can take a bit too much time to switch. When they have more time they put on the full outfit with the black cargo pants.

So, the BOT what translates to English as special support group which are a special unit trained on fast driving and getting shot at and shooting back when transporting a person from prison to court and from court to prison who might want to escape or who is wanted to be killed by crime organizations. And the thinking behind the jeans is the same with the DSI is that when people start running you don't have pants that don't really allow jumping climbing and running through city's also a reason is so that they can put gear on fast. They are now also hiring civilians and people with a private security background as long as they have lots and lots of experience. Even the academy wen from 4 years to 3 years to 2 years and now they are talking bout making it even faster maybe 8 months… the drug war and the fact that we are now considered a narco state is changing everything quite fast.
