Hey Bros, we realized we made a mistake in the set up and killed out live sand by adding fresh water. This is why it is important to mix your salt water first if you are using live sand! Check out our cycling video to see!
Also adding cold water to live sand will kill the bacteria. I prepared my water in a 32 gallon brute - heated to the desired temp and specific gravity then added half the tank quantity. Put the sand in then finished topping of the water.
@@ReefBrosOfficial Making mistakes in this hobby is also a big part of learning, doing this for 25 years and I still make mistakes. Fortunately we have google and youtube to help us along.
hi there, heater on the last return chamber is a big no no. If the auto topoff fails you risk burning the heater when the waterlevel goes down too much.
My G, that's a solid aquascape. I thought it was funny how you added the live sand and then added freshwater to kill it. I thought it was some good shit, and it doesn't really matter. If you struggle with the chemistry of the saltwater, let me know G. I can help you keep sps corals. I wouldn't want to see zoas dominant that aquascape.
Omg!! We didn't even think about that! We were having some difficulties with large mixing. In the long run we are cycling with fritz and will get it all back. We'll mention it in the next video!! Thanks! I'm leaning towards starting it with a leather in the back right and then getting a torch! Do you have any recommendations?
@@ReefBrosOfficial yeah G, I green leather in the back would look dope. And you can't go wrong with torches or frogspawns. After that add sps corals. Start off with a monti and work your way up to acros. If frits ain't doing it for you, I make magical salt that is calculated so you don't fuck with the chemistry. All you would need is some iodine, amino acid/trace elements, baking soda, and a form of hydroxide (usually kalk) and I can get you to keep sps corals and Lps corals easily. But I know most people like to use up the salt they already have. Well let me know in the future if you interested in an easier method. I have 2 saltwater tanks, one is 2 gallons and the other is 14 gallons. my 2g tank is already completed, now I'm working on my 14.
@@HCBCHEMISTRY That sounds interesting! Right now I have two huge buckets of the red sea coral pro so I'm going to be using that up first.I've been debating if I want to try a single acro on the peak of the rock or try to grow out a huge fancy torch. I'll have to run my plan by you once I get it mapped out!
@@ReefBrosOfficial ahh, yea i am trying to find one for my tank, and its been tough to find for the size, and some of the stuf fi am worried iwll not hold the weight.
@Mr.OrangeKrush yeah you definitely want to be careful of that! All in you are probably close to 250lbs for my tank (25gallon). I had an old wood desk that worked well too, but it's hard to find stuff that sturdy anymore. If you are looking for similar sometimes you can find similar office desks companies are getting rid of on Craigslist. Good luck!
@@ReefBrosOfficial Not too big a deal. Just add some bio additive like a few drops of Microbactor a couple a times per week for 2 weeks and you will be good to go.

Thanks for the support!!!
Love the new tank!!! Can't wait to see it with some fish!
Same!

Interesting I never thought about that. Do you suggest moving it to the middle chamber?
@@ReefBrosOfficial yes, middle/first chambers are fine depending on the kind of tank, also valid for sump systems
Need news about this tank guys !
Thanks! We Have some works in progress, but still bouncing back. Stay tuned! The laptop with all our videos died and then the other tank cracked 😭
@@ReefBrosOfficial wow what a bad luck ! see you soon
@@be_reef thanks! On the bright side the corals are growing like crazy!

@@ReefBrosOfficial sure thing G. I usually graw out my vision of all the corals I want on my aquascape.
Was the the 20lb bad size of the sand? Not sure what size of the fiji pink to get for this tank
Yup! It was 20lbs and gave me a thick sand bed
What are you using as a stand/desk for the tank?
It's a old big metal office desk! It works great to fit my computer and the tank on the other side

All of that live sand died Because of the freshwater
We learned that the hard way and made sure to let everyone know in the cycling video :(
