How to wash a (bootleg) Fumo

  • Fumorns everyone, some of my friends have asked me how to clean bootlegs since they are of lower quality and could possibly not survive a regular bath, but having lived with an insane amount of plushies for my entire lifetime I'm here to show that that's wrong and my lovable, cute, trusty, amazing, soft, beautiful, smile-enchanting Marisa bootleg is helping me. (She's already clean I know, but so are all of my other Fumos and bootlegs, this video is only to demonstrate)
    Apart from how you would usually go on about washing plushies that don't have washing instructions on them, things to keep in mind are that bootlegs usually use a way higher amount of glue and have lower quality stitching, so don't pull too hard on things, don't squeeze them in the wrong way and don't overdo it with detergent/cleaning agent to not get rid of the glue (though if you do, that's not the end of the world, your Fumo is not going to combust from this)
    Written out instructions for lazy people:
    | fill sink/bowl/tub with cold water
    | use mild cleaning agents, like mild soap or shampoo
    | when squeezing your Fumo's face, do not squish from the sides
    | clean either by hand, with a soap, or a toothbrush (or all of them)
    | you can let your Fumo soak for a while before starting, if it's stained badly
    | be wary of not submerging glued parts for too long so the glue doesn't die
    | no need to soak your Fumo if you only want to do minor surface cleaning
    | brush along the fabric for finer fabric parts (horizontally across the face)
    | don't apply too much force over the eyebrows and mouth
    | to dry, squish out water, rub with towel, leave it to dry

    This is why I'm afraid to wash a bootleg, because bootleg have glue and most are poorly sewn, so I won't be able to glue and sew like how it was before washing

    while I do say a lot of don'ts in this video, do note that it's very hard to actually damage your Fumo by washing it, so don't be afraid of cleaning them! All of the measures I mention are precautions to ensure a long and healthy Fumo life, your Fumo is not going to die if you mess up something or don't follow everything I do here, in the very worst and super rare cases things can be restitched and glue can be reapplied

      I have a bootleg koishi and she gets stained no matter how soft I wash her, any advice?

    • @VeysTheGreat
      @VeysTheGreat  Рік тому +7

      for stains that really don't want to come off with conventional methods, I'd suggest rubbing alcohol or even a couple drops of color-safe bleach (only use on spots and not the entire Fumo)
      depending on the type of stain different things can work, like hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing soap, if you know what kind of stain you got you can usually google what works best for it and use that on those spots

    Do we really have to squeeze it? 🥺 I afraid of ruining it by squezzing

    • @VeysTheGreat
      @VeysTheGreat  8 місяців тому +2

      don't squeeze from the sides and only do it from the front, that way you don't pop the hair off and stuff, obviously just don't do it too strongly
      if you don't do that, it'll just take longer to dry, your Fumo will be fine either way
      mind that plush stuffing has a chance to get shifted because it was soggy for a prolonged time, however I doubt that Fumos have that problem

      since most hats don't use glue you can also even put them in the washing machine (up to 40C/105F, gentle treatment settings and/or put them in just by themselves)
