What a sad place, I can't believe they are open like that.
I rode that chairlift in the 80s and again in the 90s
Hope they get things cleaned up and looking like an attraction again

Well they just opened not long ago, it will take some time. As for me we will not be riding the chairlift.

I think you should have a meetup here! I know you've been covering this attraction for years and I can remember when you and Anna went in that haunted hotel. You'd definitely boost their business.

Great vlog. The spook house was fun but them trying to sell garters for $5 was cringe worthy and awkward. They just stood up there trying to guilt people out of $5. Surprised they didn’t have their hands out too. It was just awkward.

HorrorQueen yea I know it I say it was prob close to a million to get this up and running again, but with cave city becoming wet with beer and liquor and people visiting cave city should be like it was again in the 1980’s

We used to have a place like this in Western Kentucky called Kain-Tuck Territory. There were rides and gun fights. Famous people came and had outdoor concerts. Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash and a bunch of those kinds of bands came. It closed down a long time ago.

I hope this place goes bonkers and gets some good thrill rides or something, I'm all for the nostalgia factor, but I wonder if the spirit of the land could use some excitement. The talent is great! The music made my day just now.

I was at the original Guntown MTN as a kid in the early 70s . Then in the late 90s I took my wife and kids . Back then I was told that it had just been rebuilt do to a large fire . Really enjoyed this video . Plan to visit again with the grandkids after watching your video .

Thanks so much for the nostalgia, Jacob! Back in 1991 this was my families “go to” for Summer fun! We’d just got our first camcorder and we’d stay at Yogi Bear campground and come up the mountain by chairlift and watch the old can-can shows and gunfights. My father filmed it and you can hear me crying above the entire crowd when gunfire went off (I was two, lol)! I came back with my ex right before Guntown Mtn went under so it’s been a long time for me. This just brings back memories! It’s a shame some of the negative comments I’m seeing on here, people are missing out! Cave City has a bunch to do!

I remember that the fortune teller booth used to be a ticket booth. I was there in 1987 and the booth sold tickets to the plethora of amusement park rides that were situated at the bottom of the mountain. The rides were not included with your admission to Guntown Mountain and had to be purchased separately.

  • @paulmoss754

So nice to hear that someone has bought it and trying to bring it back to life! I was going here as a child in the late 80’s to early 90’s and I loved the gun fights and the comedy shows! Plus you have dinosaur world, gift shops, zip lines and put put golf. Right down the road in cave city you have shopping and diamond caverns and down the other direction in bowling green you have lots of to do and mammoth cave! Loys of neat stuff to explore! Hopefully they will bring it back and it will last!

Loved this video, even as sad as GM is lol! I was there 25 years ago, and I still have the video that my dad took of it; even when he almost dropped our huge camcorder off the chairlift. 2 years ago, the first video I saw from you was the tour of the decrepit, post-looted Fun Time Mountain... With the trashed up store, hidden Rock-a-Fire animatronics and abandoned Western shops. I initially thought there was some kind of storm that hit the place, and you were surveying the aftermath.
Because of that video, I still follow through your adventures across America.
Any ways, it's pretty cool to come back a few years later and see the attraction back on it's feet. I honestly didn't think it would ever come back, after all that carnage and controversy behind it. But nice to be proven wrong.

Hope they can rebuild ski left even though I understand it will cost a million dollars to rebuild it. That was what sent Will over the top. When he bought place, he was told lift was fine. It wasn't. The town now reminds me of my two favourite western theme parks, Kaintuck Territory and Gold Nugget Junction in Lake of the Ozarks.

Looks like they're off to a good start. Perhaps they will fix the lift if business picks up, but they would probably have to build in more safety features to reduce liability.
Since Jacob didn't go into the souvenir shop, I assume it was not open, that's a tourist attractions bread and butter, plus if they don't have dining up there, they should get some, that opera house would be a good location to do that for those who want a sit down meal, and maybe a Chuck Wagon stand for those who want a quick snack or a drink. I suppose if they just reopened they'll add some stuff as they go along.
