  • American Bandstand. October 17, 1964. A fun moment called "Roll Call" for the participating kids on American Bandstand. Unless my hearing is going south, I would swear that kid number 13 says his first name is Lisa. If anybody recognizes him or herself, feel free to leave a comment. Also, if anyone can clearly understand what the 13th guy's first name is, I'd like to know. It sure sounded like Lisa.

    Met Helene Curtis (sponsor) once.
I kid you not, in WW2 she developed unleaded avg gas for supercharged military air craft.
    Look it up.

This must have been one of the last Philly episodes since some of them have east coast accents. Clark moved the show to LA in February '64, so this must have been January or early February of 1964.

I found the last one, Terry Turndale, on social media. Now he parts his hair on the other side.

Ooh. Good possibility Scott. I never thought of Lee Sajay. It certainly makes more sense than Lisa Jay. Thanks for that input and I think you probably solved the mystery.

How many of those Guys ended up in Vietnam? Also, The Black Kids seemed to have Thick Southern Accents which wasn't surprising since many of them were kids of the South.

Dick Clark took a big chance by having black teenagers on his show and featuring them. I applaud him for that. I know the racist Southerners was going crazy. Segregation was still going on. Alan Freed got into a lot of trouble featuring too many blacks. I know Clark got some letters but I guess he was more powerful than the racists.

Clark moved the show to Cali in '64. Before that it was in Philly

Hmm. I noticed the "ABC - the C" AB logo in the background. I thought that wasn't used till '65.

Dom Falance It started in September 1964 which began the 1964-1965 season. as "The new ab '65". The last time it did this was in 1969 (August 1969). In September 1969 it changed to a different stage set as well as the show's theme.

Looks like an early west coast show (tape's a bit too bright).

American Bandstand didn't go full color until 1968.
