Another tip for y’all is get the grill master chimney it’s $10 at Walmart and then just use regular charcoal no lighter fluid added. You use paper underneath to light the coals. Then you don’t have a lighter fluid taste to your food.
Josh & Mama videos are so comforting to me. I would love to see more if these two. A reality show and Mama getting to travel and see/try new things is something I would love to watch. I wanna see mama succeed and win, she's so cute and happy and gives good vibes :)
Oh dear... Save the veggies and seasonings for your food! Also, Charcoal needs to be all white/grey before you put your food down! Your charcoal wasn't hot enough on one side, and too hot on the other. You can put a little can filled with water on a corner of the grill and it will help keep the food juicer too, so you don't waste all those veggies! All those veggies would be delicious ON the burger. Love, ya'll ! ❤️
Yes, it does work. You can buy Hickory Smoked charcoal, or smoke the charcoal yourself. It does make the difference. I have been told by guys that grill all the time when out fishing and hunting, that seasoned charcoal is the way to go. The seasoning rises in with the smoke, and helps it baste the meat of the chicken, beef, fish, whatever type of meat you grill. This is what some of the outdoorsmen do in North Carolina, which is where I'm from. Nothing new to me. Hope this helpes everyone out. Oh and the seasoning is usually done with what momma here uses. You can also use hickory wood, maple wood, But do Not use Pine wood. Certain Pine wood will make your meat taste, horrible, due to the sap that is inside the wood. So, I hope that also helps you out when you're camping...have a Wonderful day everyone😊😊😊
@THEHORSELOVER235 Adding salt and pepper wouldn't have ruined the experiment because she didn't add those seasonings to the charcoal, she added onion powder garlic powder and peppers if it worked those flavors still would've came through. 🤷

As a Texan I’ve never heard of this but if done right I’m sure it great, so you put it on before you light the coals or after they turn white and the flame is gone?
She seasons her charcoal, but not her food? Why???? Edit: y'all know I understand the point if the video right? It was a joke about her never seasoning her food. The fact I have to throw this edit up is stupid.
Like everyone said, let the charcoal turn grey before you cook. The match light charcoal has starter fluid in it which will make your food taste like you marinated it in gasoline. Also, for the sake of this experiment, don't put the veggies on till the charcoal turns grey as well, that way they aren't incinerated by the time you cook. I forget that cooking with charcoal is second nature to a me and a lot of folks, by the time I was a teenager I knew most of the nuances of using it. Ya'll are awesome anyway!
The difference was caused by the unseasoned grill having better air flow so the fire was hotter and it cooked the chicken & burgers faster. The fire in the seasoned grill took longer to start and spread to all the coals as the vegetables and spices were blocking the air flow which means, in effect, the seasoned chicken & burgers cooked for less time and at a lower temperature which is why they were more juicy. You're not meant to cook on the flames of charcoal grills, you're supposed to wait until the flames are no longer visible. If you want to season the smoke on your charcoal grill then put a sprig of a woody herbs like Rosemary on the charcoal just before you start cooking. Still better is to put the seasoning on the food itself before you cook it like normal people.
Josh is just as cute and lovable as Mama. You two are so much fun to watch. I love that Mama is usually barefoot in a tee shirt and shorts. Nothing fake about her ❤
I haven’t even watched it yet but listen I could watch her season everything with mayo all day. As long as we get her and Josh on film… they could be cooking grass for all I care. I just love watching them. lol no one is here watching for the recipes. Hell, she could be gardening and I’d watch all the same! ❤ love y’all
If you cook chicken past the 165 internal temperature the chicken will be dry. Most people do not know this, that’s why even getting chicken breasts at restaurants are usually dry
I love watching their videos. They keep you entertained and coming back for more. Such a fun family. I live about an hour from them in Gilbert, SC. I need to send her one of my recipes.
I found these videos and fell in love with this woman shes got that country accent and cooks good meals and food Every mans dream pretty southern blond who makes awesome food 😋 😋
the seasoned grill's meat was juicier because the charcoal didnt fully burn because of the veggies (which is actually dangerous). next time add the veggies AFTER the charcoal turns white. basically the regular grill was over-cooked and the seasoned grill was under-cooked
I’d let the charcoal fully light and turn grey before adding food. Also, the vegetables adding moisture but not flavor makes perfect sense. As the vegetables cook they release moisture and reduce the moisture loss of the food being cooked above. The flavor will always be overpowered by the smoke of course. You could use lettuce for the same effect, but don’t forget to reach that internal temp
I would give ANYTHING to have a mom like this and a relationship with her like this, too! I'll never have that with mine, so now my goal is to make sure I have this kind of connection with my own kids! You're both so lucky and deserve all the success your channels bring ❤
The reason they are cooked different was the charcoal grill was higher heat so the food technically over cooked and dried out. The other grill with the veggies wasn’t all the way lit when you stated to add food. It was cooking low until the lid came off. When the lid came off the charcoals were ready to cook so your food got a really nice grill making the food more juicy and delicious! Great video!!
The moisture from the veggies steam and grill the meat at the same time. Season the meat next time its amazing. Using seasoned wood chips is a great option too . Great video😊
The water in the vegetables basically evaporated when heated on the coals and kind of helped steam cook your burgers and chicken, making them more moist than the others.... maybe. 😊
Seems like wasting food, the onions and peppers. A small aluminum pan or can filled with water in your grill would probably give moister results. Like when you cook a chicken with an opened beer can in it.
The charcoal with the vegetables was not burning as hot the plain side. The vegetables kind of muffled the heat. That's why the seasoned was juicier.❤❤
I'm pausing as she adds onions and peppers to the charcoal just to say I hope you read the charcoal instructions and you realized that you will poison your hamburgers if you don't light the coals and let that light fluid all burn out of the coals before you add food on top. Now let me watch and pray you don't poison yourself
I saw you put the veggies on the coals & said Noooo! The peppers & onions looked so good to eat, not on coals! I would've put them in foil with some olive oil, granulated garlic, salt, & pepper. Wrap them up & grill alongside the meat! I think wasting veggies like that is sad! The coals do need to burn more & become white before you gril. I loved your video! You both are so cute! Lots of love to you both! So much fun to watch! 🥰🤗🌷🌻🪻
The difference is the speed and heat at which it cooked. The seasoned side retarted the heat and slowed the charcoal. The unseasoned side cooked quicker due to hotter charcoal, dries it out. You can slow down the cook speed by ajusting the vent in the lid. That's what they're for. A hamburger, the size you had, doesn't take long. If you want flavor in your food. Buy charcoal with apple or hickory wood chips in it.. or buy the bags wood chips and add to regular charcoal. Then you'll taste a difference. 😊
Cmon momma!! The way you free seasoned with garlic and onion powder! Keep that energy with food add some salt, smoked paprika and pepper and you have a decent seasoning base for everything 😩🙏🏽 we believe in youuuu😂
The meat from the seasoned charcoal is more moist because onions and peppers have a lot of moisture in them that will cook out. While it cooked out of the seasoning it was steaming up thru the meat making it more moist

The first grill was way hotter. Look at the difference in color of coals when you put the meat on. That's why the unseasoned grill meat was dryer
Well and also because the veggies contained liquid which steamed the chicken as it cooked, leaving it juicier.
