    Well done you two. Good preparation getting stung by nettles etc. Looking forward to future episodes, even if I do think you're both crazy.

    I really look forward to your big ride ahead, however, I am glad that before that you will give us a rundown on the bikes and gear. I and some of my fellow cyclists are big fans of "Marathon" tyres; they last for many, many km over some diabolical terrain. Pricy though!

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  4 місяці тому

      Thank you 🙂 We will be doing a run down of the bikes and all our gear that is for sure. J is currently working on the latest video of us leaving the Lakes and then we'll be releasing on on all the nitty gritty details of the bikes. We too are fans of Marathon tyres. For the trip we are looking to prioritise longevity and durability so bomb-proof tyres are a must😅

    best advice i can give is replace that small pump with one that has a hose .they damage the value every time you have to hold it .. had one before nothing but value problems and tube problems ..ps great video will be following… ps wear a shirt it keep you cooler and save you money on sun cream

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  2 роки тому

      Ha, we've just changed to a new pump. That mini one was a killer but I do think I've developed some interesting shoulder muscles over the years... 😅

    Thanks for the update! Different tyres maybe? Three punctures between the two of you already …

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  2 роки тому

      Yup. Frustration. Looking into them today as the inner tubes were bought reduced and have punctures/splits on inside and outside. On the last patch the valve busted too. I've used Smart Sam Pros for thousands of miles on my 26" wheels and didn't have any problem. Will do some investigating today!

    It's a bit nicer with paniers on the back.

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  2 роки тому

      I am actually now using some small clipless ones on the back to help carry bigger objects. For offroad riding though, I find there are lots of pros and cons. Sarah recently got these Altura Vortex and has been pleased though, so I thought I'd follow suit 😅

    Subbed! Very interested in following your exploits!
    Rode the Peddars/Icknield/Ridgeway in June. Such a fantastic route so much diverse scenery, from the sandy tracks of Thetford to to rolling hills towards Wendover etc.
    I got off the Ridgeway at Reading as home is 50 south of that. TBH I'd ridden the other part of the Ridgeway as part of the King Alfreds Way the previous year so wasnt fussed on missing out.
    That sand after Thetford was a nightmare on a bike carrying a third of that weight! (I credit card packed!)

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  2 роки тому +1

      Such an awesome route! I know King Alfred's Way gets spoken about, but surprised how little attention some of the Peddars and Icknield Way get. Really fun cycling. But yeh, that sand was hard going, especially at 30C 😅

    • @easthantsXC
      @easthantsXC 2 роки тому +1

      @@joshandsarahride indeed! The KAW was put together by CyclingUK so got some pretty good marketing. The Peddars Way is just 'there' lol!
      Hadnt heard of the old chalk way - funnily enough we bumped intp another couple doing the same route as you. Has inspired me to do the bits of that ride I've not done yet.

    • @joshandsarahride

      @@easthantsXC Can't talk for all of it but the bits we passed through were nice. All very flat too, so you can make some pace if you want to. Lots of GPX files around for it too.
