current will only help touque, voltage will help speed, ie add another 12v battery ie:24v to 36v. then u kinda run into burning up the controller, so best bet is to buy a 36v controller and add another battery.keeping the same motor (24v).
That would be the safest and best upgrade just switch the batteries 🔋 and controller and use same motor just make sure the motor can handle the full power or you will be upgrading a new motor. Ty

Modding the shunts by adding more soldier to it definitely works. I did it. But only put a small amount of soldier like a blob but I’m gonna add some more I think 🤔

More modern controllers with lcd displays can be adjusted with the throttle i just did this on my titan pro it runs a tf 200 lcd throttle not sure if it will make a difference yet. Il let u know. I also beefed up all the solder. Not something i suggest if hour not good at soldering. This can very easily fry your controller. Especially adding as much as this guy. Dont do that. Another thing with upping the voltage is you need higher voltage capacitors those are usually right on the threshold
This will produce a pop and smoke and leave you stranded as soon as you deliver 36 volts to those poor little mosfets. You might as well hook the battery straight to the motor
I added a battery to a swagger5. I pulled apart the speed controller after watching this video and my controller looks a lot more technical. It even has a computer chip in it. No mosfets. It would be nice to be able to get more speed. I’ve got the amp/hrs to handle. Many times while riding the scooter it will max the speed then I feel it back down and then I go 1 to 2 mph slower. The cruise control helps as if I can get it maxed long enough it will hold that speed. Manual without cruise usually encourages the artificial speed reduction. Anyway I’d like to do like I saw on this vid. Maybe I need a bigger controller. I’m afraid of the wiring of a new controller as I’m sure colors don’t all line up. 300w 36v. Batteries 2 - 12a/h . 24a/h total. Max speed right now 16mph at best. Thank you. I appreciate videos like this!
sounds like you need a new speed controller to get a bit more speed out of it if it's even possible to swap the speed controller out. sounds like a complex bit of kit. this how to is just for cheap Chinese scooters. sorry I can't help with yours.
Mad Mods. Great video. What people are commonly doing is disconnecting the white wire. They said that's the speed limiter. What I have always do is use a more powerful battery and controller with higher wattage

i would not go with tips from this guy in the video no his mods is not safe. all u can do is program controller to get more speed or if it dont have speed limit up the voltage and u will get more speed tho u should look up what all components on ur controller can handle and always go with a little bit less dont push the maximum limit if u want it to holdup..

I'm not sure on that scooter but the ones I've worked on the motor and 24v from the batteries is normally what gives you the top speed and the controller is just feeding the power in slowly and switching it for reverse and doing other bits like the lights. the gearing or increasing the voltage to spin everything faster is the way to go faster and a higher wattage controller for acceleration. I'm going to get hold off another mobility scooter and try a load of bits out on it to see what works and what doesn't for speed and acceleration.
More voltage =more speed and gearing is Also needed. This mod is for faster acceleration and torque and to allow more voltage to be used to get a higher top speed.
Hi, I positioned the wire on the esc as you did but it made a few sparks shoot out, did i accidentally bridge the wrong pins or was there some charge left in there that i released I put it all back together without modding and it still works
@@OverhaulTech just bye a new controller that will work for 24/36/48v and look out for the amp on the controller. Most 24v or 36v will be in the £12 price but if u look it will say 36v 350w 13amp or 14amp. If u pay a bit more or look about u find one the same specific but the amp will be 17/19amp that’s what u need . Don’t worry about over V the moter they can take a lot . I had a 350w on 72v no problem. But just get a good controller. Plus if your going to be playing around like I do with different scooter or projects then get a sine wave or a good one that u can even use a laptop to put what amps and so on. But they r well worth it. Mines got 24 mosfits and can run 24v up to 72v I think even 80v plus up to 65amps

It depends on the voltage of your scooter at the moment. Yes upping the voltage will make it go faster but to much voltage and things will get hot and burn out.
Batterys dont work in Watts do you mean the current speed controller is 500 watts and you want to use a 1000watts one. Yea a battery is calculated in amps and volts so you need to do the calculation on how many amps the 1000w controller will uses to determine how long the battery will last I'm guessing half the range it dose on 500watts. What batteries are you currently using?
@@MADMODS I've done a mobility scooter conversion with a 36v 16Ah battery with smart bms. I'm not 100% sure on what the cells are exactly if I'm honest but yes, I wanna change the 500w controller too 1000w controller. I was just curious if it would be OK to do that.

The battery is most likely lithium ion if it's not lead acid the battery maximum output is 16ah meaning 16amps a hour until flat so the range will be a lot less but unlikely to be on full throttle all the time tho. Its hard to say how the motor will take it but the batterys should be fine.

No been on holiday, stripped down the other scooter for all its parts to swap over I uploaded that video. I have to make up a lipo battery pack before I swap everything into the razor that will all be coming out soon 😀
Pro-tip: do not use your 500-750degree solder gun as a pointer in regards to your PCB. As a matter of safety, just don't do anything this video recommends. He is using way to much wire for the shunt and wielding the solder gun with zero regard to his electronics. There are more efficient solder guns that run on electric rather than butane. Geez Louise
Pretty sure it's mainly for those 250w-750w e scooters that the max speed is 15 mph - 25 mph due to rules and regulations. If you're e scooter can go over, I doubt there's a speed limiter on it
I mean if someone did this it's a wise choice to automatically set your battery up to be "dead" at like 10% so you don't kill it off completely but i think it's a cool concept to try it

i did what you showed here but after installing it back into my ebike almost right away icould smell somethjng burning and as my attention was distracted i hit the throttle just a little and went flying into an intersection and hit a dicky-d trike. the bike suddenly took off again and tried to evade an unrelated police chase. we ended up in a ditch.....i tried to tell the bike to put the gun down but didnt get to finish when police open fired. It's just restricted to 25 as that's what most European countries govern it 48v should easily do 28 to 30mph usually settings are in the controller settings or unplug a grey wire in the side to take the restrictor off
At the start of the video you say that this mod will allow you to run a higher voltage? You are modifying the ways that the motor draws amps in the video. This is nothing to do with volts. If those capacitors are over 36v ie 63v then the stock controller would happily run 36v without messing about with current shunts.

@@delacalazadapaulrafael9077 unfortunately it's not easy with brushless motors to get more speed out of them. if the speed controller can be reprogrammed that can help or possibly going up in voltage a but unlike brushed dc motors where increased voltage give big results in speed brushless go on Watts and you need more watts to go faster
What a Great way to get the smoke out of that controller !!! Those controllers are so inexpensive that you do not need to construct fire starting circuits. I have been in electronics over 40 years ( just retired ) please do not modify circuits with out proper knowledge of the subject . What you are doing is excessively stressing the high power components (thus shortening their ljves )
I"m sorry man, but this is terrible soldering... Get your self a cheap 80w soldering iron + some nice leaded 63/37 solder and it will do wonders right off the bet
No brushless use 3phase and the controller is not modifiable you just need a bigger amperage speed controller or be able to over clock the motor timing to get it to go faster or accelerate faster depinning on how you tune the motor timing. Standard dc motor put in more voltage gets faster but hotter. Brushless is a bit more tricky due to 3 phase but can still take more voltage but doesn't always go faster. A better speed controller and motor if you want more speed with brushless or a speed controller that handles more amps mite help. Hope all that made sense any other questions just ask.👍
very good way of increasing the the speed and torque availability from a poor quality speed controller and an excellent way to burn down your home when charging your chosen vehicle for this cheapskate shunt modification...you will also receive a bonus kick to the testicles when you discover that you could have avoided this tragedy had you spent 50 quid on an uprated speed controller....fantastic.

You should have checked the resistance of the shunt before you modified it. For one it gives you a control unit and you can revert it back if needed.

No mosfetts? I think your looking at a stepdown transformer. That regulates the voltage down to 12v for the lights

Yes brushless totally different as runs 3 fase. Normally just up voltage to get brushless to go a bit faster. Otherwise a higher amperage controller.

i did what you showed here but after installing it back into my ebike almost right away icould smell somethjng burning and as my attention was distracted i hit the throttle just a little and went flying into an intersection and hit a dicky-d trike. the bike suddenly took off again and tried to evade an unrelated police chase. we ended up in a ditch.....i tried to tell the bike to put the gun down but didnt get to finish when police open fired. Killing my bike in a hai, of bullets ALL BECAUSE OF YOUR GD MODS. I hope you sleep well at night because i have to adjust to peddling on my own power alone. It's just restricted to 25 as that's what most European countries govern it 48v should easily do 28 to 30mph usually settings are in the controller settings or unplug a grey wire in the side to take the restrictor off

At the start of the video you say that this mod will allow you to run a higher voltage? You are modifying the ways that the motor draws amps in the video. This is nothing to do with volts. If those capacitors are over 36v ie 63v then the stock controller would happily run 36v without messing about with current shunts.

if the speed controller can be reprogrammed that can help or possibly going up in voltage a but unlike brushed dc motors where increased voltage give big results in speed brushless go on Watts and you need more watts to go faster

What a Great way to get the smoke out of that controller !!! Those controllers are so inexpensive that you do not need to construct fire starting circuits. I have been in electronics over 40 years ( just retired ) please do not modify circuits with out proper knowledge of the subject . What you are doing is excessively stressing the high power components (thus shortening their ljves )

That's not going to work for brushless controllers oh, that's just for regular DC brushed controllers.
No brushless use 3phase and the controller is not modifiable you just need a bigger amperage speed controller or be able to over clock the motor timing to get it to go faster or accelerate faster depinning on how you tune the motor timing. Standard dc motor put in more voltage gets faster but hotter.
Brushless is a bit more tricky due to 3 phase but can still take more voltage but doesn't always go faster. A better speed controller and motor if you want more speed with brushless or a speed controller that handles more amps mite help.

very good way of increasing the the speed and torque availability from a poor quality speed controller and an excellent way to burn down your home when charging your chosen vehicle for this cheapskate shunt modification...you will also receive a bonus kick to the testicles when you discover that you could have avoided this tragedy had you spent 50 quid on an uprated speed controller....fantastic.
The circuitry in the speed controller has nothing to do with the charger or charging circuitry of the scooter at all.
So no it wont go up in flames.
