My father was a deacon & abused my sister & me all our lives. Disgusting. Neither of us told the other until I found out he abused my 9 year old daughter. I broadcast it, we confronted him, & forced him in to treatment. Tore our family apart. I forgave him but relationships ended. I ended up being a nurse & for 28 years helped victims become survivors. I am a 40 year old woman. I was a Gateway member for 5 years in grand prairie tx. I was raped by my female cousin at the age of 5. I was also abused by men my whole life. I went to the staff for help at Gateway and they did not help me when my abuser was at the church. They pulled me in a room as i cried and screamed. They did nothing. Ill never forget that. Was in 2016. On and off id tell myself that churches are BS and God is not real after this. Thank you for speaking because it helps me see its not God that didnt help me. God is the only one who will. You inspire me! Thank you soooo much! Bless you!!!
Please contact Cindy and tell her about this. I am so sorry this happened to you. It is time to expose the darkness lurking in churches. May Jesus hold you close, comfort and heal your broken heart, soul, and spirit.
So sorry that your cousin violated you. I'm not sure though what any church could've done for you after so many years had passed? Would your cousin have allowed them to counsel him? Or have them take him to the authorities? With his age, I'd think most would feel uncomfortable even bringing that up for fear of violence towards them.
Prayers for your total healing from God our loving Father. No we can’t blame God for what happened to us because it was sin. Sun is the cause for what happens to us but HE is the HEALER and only God can heal us totally
As a person that was molested at the age of 11. Yes it affected me deeply and it stole my childhood . I always felt dirty and carried a spirit of shame. . Exactly, if you take advantage of a child sexually, if it is proven, there should be no statute of limitation at all. This man should be headed for jail.
In Australia there no longer is. In ninety five I fought the " statute of limitations" all the way to the Supreme Court. It cost me thirty five thousand dollars, but well worth it. Not only my abuser was convicted but many other since then.
She was a child; it was a crime. She can forgive him, God can forgive him, but there are temporal consequences for crime, and it should be ESPECIALLY true when the victim is a CHILD.
It seems like she wasn’t even sure she was abused for a long time. The time in which it took her to process the events, have no impact on his accountability. Just because you rob someone, and they don’t report it, doesn’t mean you didn’t commit a crime. The victim is not responsible for the abuser. The victims actions or lack of action has no bearing on if the event(s) was a crime or not, or if there should be accountability.
Isaiah 43:25 I am HE who blots out your transgressions for MY own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” It's called repenting please let us know about your transgressions since 1987 so we can remind you daily.
Sexual abuse is not a “mistake”. It is a sin and a crime. It was the leadership’s duty to report this to the authorities. If the perpetrator was truly repentant then he would have turned himself in and accepted the consequences.
That is true, before I committed to good and God and the Bible at 17-18, I started repenting confessing and desiring to make restitution, does it look like Morris was seeking to make things right with this woman? And Morris amazingly was our teacher on how to hear from the Holy Spirit or for him maybe the unholy one.
Absolutely correct. One day every one of those individuals will face our Creator. When you hurt one of His children, you have serious consequences and can read about it in the Bible. How many others did he do this to? I have personally known several just like him and they don’t do it to just once or twice to one or two and simply “grow” out of it.
I heard someone say way back that The Lord would clean out His church first before He exposes the secrets in the world stage …it’s an encouragement that we’re getting closer to the end times✝️🙏🏻

My brother taken to the YMCA in Dallas… later would cry and tell what his hero did to him … church of about 800 … multiple families wounded for life … I feel the pain … I’m 79 … tears for my family … we were noble to not talk about what happened… everyone suffered alone … Cindy’s ongoing recovery story was needful for all of us who were never heard … prayers for all who are still recovering .
This speaks to me. I was masterfully groomed by my female Christian school teacher at an IFB church. Hearing her story helped so much. From the time I was 12 until 18 she sexually abused me. I sued her and the church and just settled this past month. It took years to fight them. I couldn’t speak up until I was in my 40’s and had my own children. The more you tell your story, the more shame is dispelled and it gives others the strength to step forward.

Very troubling to hear that your mum lived so long & clearly never acknowledged your distressing time. Your cousin got away with what he did & she enabled him. I'm sorry for what you've been through. I hope you know the love of Jesus in your life.
Those of you who are criticizing her for "waiting 30 years" need to keep a few things in mind: 1. Unless you've been through it yourself, you don't grasp the full power of fear, manipulation, and shame. There are countless examples where victims of sexual abuse have symptoms that linger for decades. 2. She clearly states in this interview that she was already telling people (even starting at 17), but she and the people supporting her found it necessary to cast an ever-widening net because the story kept falling on deaf ears. 3. As she herself describes, telling the story doesn't just affect her; a bombshell revelation like this can disrupt many lives, so that can cause reluctance to talk about it.
I had a situation at 18 years old and told someone related to the man. She told me it didn't surprise her and to leave it to her and her husband. Well, that is the last I heard about it. I told a close friend that was really following that preacher and he defiantely did NOT believe me. Decades later I brought it up to that old friend who still said that it did not happen to me and that I was lying. Other friends always believed me which helped. But after hearing this, I feel I need to trust my discernment more and not question my God-given gut so much...
It’s so important to have a personal relationship with God through the Christ and not just follow whatever anyone claiming to be a Christian says is of Christ when it isn’t. God is only good, those rejecting doing the good of God are not a reflection of God. Read scripture, pray, listen and obey HIM.
Some do the ones who really are forgiven by God do change. Yes you did did. Once God forgives us He doesn't bring it up!! God doesn't break his word. You want money or you do not had forgiveness in your heart. Give it to God! Let Him handle it! You want Vengeance. Your family knew it. Stop lying.

My sister was taken advantage of her pastor. She went to him for counseling & he knew she was vulnerable. He denied it! The church believed him. A few years later, more accusations came forth against that pastor by other church goers. The church elders visited my sister at home & apologized for not believing her. But what the church elders did was, send that pastor away to another church in a different state! They Covered his sin & let him continue to be behind the pulpit! It's like that in other churches! It caused believers to turn away from their faith! Thank goodness, she has come back to God but she went thru mental torment & lost her family. Shame on those leaders of churches that do that!!!
Yes. Shame for not being held accountable, and the victim has to suffer for so long. There are others who suffer silently. Who says the sufferers are to be blamed because they are affected by the crimes committed by someone else.
_I hear you. Many of us have endured the same, for years longer at even a younger age but once we exposed our abuser, by God's grace, Jesus walked us through healing. We went on to privately help others, not continue to speak about our abuser under the guise of healing. Something is very wrong with this woman's tactic. Nevertheless, maranatha_
Cindy, as another woman who was sexually abused as a child, you did the right thing in bringing this to light. No one has any idea what you have been thru except those of us who have also been abused. I am in my late 70's and I could never share my story until my 60's when my young grandson was put in a position of sexual abuse. We need to do whatever necessary to make the abusers stop!
It was brought to light already when she was 17, and the church, her family and him accepted his repentance, he was sent away from ministry into 2 years of counseling and this satisfied everybody involved so in 1989 they signed off on him going back into ministry. What seems to bring contention was that in 2004, she approached him for $50,000. Would you have done this? I did not. I had to walk through forgiveness for my abusers, not exacting justice. Vengeance belongs to God and God only. There is only one sin that is unpardonable and that is the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Morals and human decency require that anyone who ever learns of such abuse should report immediately. To say that "the Law did not require reporting " some time ago is totally irrelevant. Anyone who covers up child abuse or protects the abusers should be charged and gaoled if convicted. The Law of God is written on our hearts so the Law not requiring reporting is a futile and irrelevant argument. My immediate reaction when I found my son had been raped by my own husband (a church member and that it had been covered up by the Pastors of the church) is recorded in my own book "Father Provoke Not Your Child". Immediate reporting no matter who is involved is imperative.

While most of the Christians are busy throwing stones at R.M. 2 things to consider. 1 is the room on the stone throwing list for David the King or Peter? Let's not forget Paul too ok? 2. Have they even looked at their own life or does the words He who is without sin no longer matter?
No one who has ever committed rape or harmed a child should ever be allowed any kind of leadership position of any level in any church or ministry. Even if they have repented. The Bible is clear. If Moses was not allowed in the Holy Land, David was not allowed to build GOD'S Temple, then churches should follow the rules for any elder/leader in The Church - they must be above reproach, husband of only one wife, etc.
The entire Evangelical community need to take heed. This sinful conduct is pervasive in the church and becoming a stumbling block to persons who want to be saved.

This is a very powerful testimony and one that truly reflects the power of a real salvation and not just religious non-sense. I wish I could say that about the rest of the comments. I imagine if Robert Morris was somehow arraigned, tried, found guilty, and sentenced to death by lethal injection, there would be some that call themselves Christians would be very happy to be there for the event. We live in a very sad, religious country.
People don't understand that for a victim of child molestation it is a life sentence for the victim. Most of its effects are not even realized until twenty or more years after the initial incident occurred. In church leadership with background checks no child molester is allowed to serve in any capacity of the church where he/she would have one on one contact with children. This is ministry 101!
I am a victim of sexual abuse from a family member, and I'm about your age and I was 12 when it happened. I also watched Robert Morris for years and feel fed from his sermons, but it is a lifetime struggle being a victim and much in my heart agree with you and I'm very glad you stepped up and out with this. I was able to forgive my uncle in my heart only a year ago, and also accept finally this year (age 50) that the damage done at age 12 does last a lifetime. Stay strong in Christ my sister, you are helping people.
Yes, and so many people are saying it was years ago. He repented. Forgive this poor man. Stop persecuting him! They don't seem to realize that if the right thing were done when he was caught? His sentence would be 99 years in a maximum security prison. His entire life behind bars. Does he know what they do to pretty "Priests" that are pedophiles?
Unfortunately the time for prosecution has passed. The statute of limitations has expired. I am appalled by this. It never should have happened. Mr. Morris should not have been a pastor.
I agree he should not have been a pastor! What bothers me more is Christians saying he repented and we should forgive and move on. He didn’t repent, he lied, he said it was a young lady! He got up every Sunday and preached to the Church! Inside of him knowing what he did obviously without Conscience and didn’t step down and he repented after being caught! Christians are forgiving to him but I have heard very little about prayer for his victim! There is a video on you tube where she speaks about what she went through and it gave me more understanding!
How can you say it’s not a moral failure? It is clearly a carnal mind that did this, not a holy spiritual mind that submits to Jesus’s Righteousness. It is Both, a moral failure and a crime!!!
I think the biggest thing to do is pray for God's will. He didn't kill David for murder. And God called for death for adultery yet didn't kill David for adultery either. The Lord did send a prophet to confront him for his sin. That's a lot different then what's happening..

young lady is a term used to address a 'girl'....he did not call her a young 'woman'. Then your case would make more sense. (Many girls, at that age are definitely physically becoming young women). Young lady is NOT referring to her physical state....it is a term to respect a growing female.

As long as Morris referred to the victim as "young lady" it was accepted by his audience that Morris and his wife blamed the victim and said she had a Jezebel spirit. But, that's not acceptable now that we know that she was 12yrs old. It's really creepy to hear Morris tell how he chose his victims, plural, when he was leading an immoral lifestyle. Get the clip on him preaching that! He didn't come into accountability or step away from preaching for 2 years like he claimed, as evidenced by the archived newspaper articles announcing Morris preaching at various meetings. He even says that he released himself to preach again after only one month. Where is the transparency, repentance, accountability, etc. Most victims do not even realize they've been groomed. Since God has forgiven him we need to forgive him as Christians. If we don't forgive him God won't forgive us. Even Cindy needs to forgive. I know it was an awful thing. But if she does not forgive she will not get her healing. I have been so bleßsed by pastor Morris sermons. I listen to him everyday at 1:30. I really miss that. I hope he is praying his way through this and there will be a come back so he can continue his ministry of helping people through his ministering the word as he has done these past 35 years since he has gotten forgiven by God. I am sure he wishes this would have never happened but now that he has repented I think he needs to be allowed to go on in his ministry. So be encouraged Pastor Robert and move forward with God's help. My heart bleeds for you and what you must be going through. But I do pray for Cindy too. Also I pray for your entire family.
Thank you Cindy for being so brave and speaking out! Please know that when you speak out against wrong doing, you are not tarnishing the name of Jesus, but you are exposing the sneaky and vile acts done by people. DRAIN the swamp.
I think Robert Morris was too embarrassed to say she was 12. Here was a high profile minister, who is held in high esteem . How do you stand and admit this kind of thing without being embarrased. I do believe all those years, it haunted him. In a sad sort of way he's probably glad its been exposed. To carry that around for years must have been a weight for him. While compassion goes toward the victim, i pray we can show GODLY mercy for Robert. What would Jesus do?
I am proud of her for coming out with her story. I too am a preacher’s daughter who was molested not once but twice in my childhood. I too remember exactly what I had on. This has helped me get past what happened to me and bring out the anger that has been hidden.

I was my molested at 4 yrs. old. The shame that came still lingers some...after much counseling. I wasn't able to even accept what happened until I was 60 yrs old...by then, my life was broken in me. No longer can these predators run. No longer can the victims remain silent. 😭 The church still hides behind it's fine robes & pulpits.
What is Interesting here is why she waited so long to bring this out? This pastor had repented of this sin and inappropriate behavior and has from all Indications been living a clean and converted life bringing the Gospel to the ears and hearts of thousands. Why now?................. .Well we have no believable answer to that question so let us then consider the words of Jesus. "he who is without sin cast the 1st stone". Did Jesus not forgive and restore Peter after his denial of him? Yes.........Peter repented and Jesus forgave and restored him back into his confidence. Did King David not sin with Bathsheba and murder Uriah? Yes. When confronted with that grave sin did he not repent? Yes.........Psalm 51 is his Psalm of repentance..........did he not remain King? Yes he did...........did he not wish to build a Temple for the Lord.......? Yes. After all that sin he had done God still called him "a man after my own heart". Most of the Psalms were written by this "adulter and murderer", do will still not read those Psalms today? Yes. What we have here is here is an example of his critics own self righteousness. God is quick to forgive and restore with repentance from the heart of the transgressor occurs.................man is not. John 2:25 states, He (Jesus) “knew what was in man.” He knew the dark hearts of those professing faith. This is an indication of our Lord's deity, for only the Lord can search the heart and make the right evaluation (Jer. 17:10). As finite creatures, we cannot see into the hearts of others but we are quick to condemn them. Too quick and not remembering that we too shall stand before God and give an account of our life and every careless word spoken or written.
He could repent and be forgiven...but never belong in the pulpit....pastors are held to a higher standard...and he lied...plain and simple...also when you expose a predator...his whole family and others suffer the fallout...also the abused blame themselves. ...@wayneroberts4144
Its amazing how people always blame the victim. Its sad.The Bible says that whatever is hidden shall be revealed; all the secrets are being revealed now, and there is much more to come. Unfortunately, we put our trust in man instead of God. As she said, the victim is always blamed while the predator goes free.
If she doesn't forgive she will not be forgiven. Bitterness is a sign of unforgiveness. The only unforgivable sin in unforgiveness. She is saying that what Robert once was he still is. That denies the power of the gospel to change people.
She doesn't sound bitter. You're presuming that she hasn't forgiven. But nothing in this video indicates that she's vindictive. She rightfully spoke up because he was lying to the church recently. It was appropriate for her to have his account rectified for the sake of himself and the church. Truthful recognition of his wrong will help him truly repent.

Who says the proper authorities weren't notified? And if the parents chose not to go to the authorities, what could pastors do who heard something, not the whole story? And when did she finally speak up? The Pastors can only do so much. As she spoke up, the right thing was done. He's out as pastor. I hope he works to help others struggling with sexual perversion know how destructive the actions are and how Christ can help them get delivered. I pray she can continue to share her testimony and give victims courage to live and not be defined by trauma. Many are suffering in silence. Sometimes the rapists are not arrested. Don't let that keep you from healing and living your best life. It's the devils desire, don't let him win. Christ can give complete healing and peace.🕊

She cried out for ALL the other girls to come out of the woodwork who Pastor Robert abused. There has been no one else come forward. He went and repented. He went through two years of restoration and God used him mightily for the kingdom. If you guys are going to write off Pastor Robert then She should be written off for her sin. It seems like she wasn’t even sure she was abused for a long time. The time in which it took her to process the events, have no impact on his accountability.

There are countless examples where victims of sexual abuse have symptoms that linger for decades. 2.
I agree. God and we can forgive people for their crimes, but the consequences remain. Pastor Robert should never have been allowed to become a pastor.
The entire Evangelical community need to take heed. This sinful conduct is pervasive in the church and becoming a stumbling block to persons who want to be saved.

What Robert Morris did was not just a sin. It was a crime. He should be in prison.

Is not a moral failure, it’s a crime. And if “properly disclosed” the police should’ve been informed.

Cindy you spoke so well. Women appreciate you for sharing your story. Shame comes in for many reasons. I admire you for speaking up. God bless you. 🇨🇦
Thank you for not being silent, Cindy! I agree, he should not be in the pulpit! Prayers for you and your family!
Churches are supposed to be safe places that protect children from predatory criminals, but so often they do the opposite.
I think the church is like a hospital . The church is a hospital for sick souls. Some has been cured , some being treated, some are non compliant and some are incurable !
Predators target Churches. This is why I tell people do not allow child to be in a Nursery, Summer Camp unless your present. Most women especially unmarried aren't safe in a Church that doesn't agree with women in Ministry
It’s sad to me that this woman who had twenty years from the time of the assaults to have Pastor Robert arrested didn’t. She proclaimed that he should have never been allowed to preach ever again. That is vengeance. God said vengeance is mine. We as believers don’t get to say what or how God uses a person All of us are discounted from doing anything in the Church if we live by her religious rules. She cried out for ALL the other girls to come out of the woodwork who Pastor Robert abused. There has been no one else come forward. He went and repented. He went through two years of restoration and God used him mightily for the kingdom. If you guys are going to write off Pastor Robert then She should be written off for her sin. And all of us who are saved should be written off because of our past sin.
She told him she wanted 2 million dollars for her silence thus saying she would blackmail him for the money. She is more corrupt than he is. Congratulations you have let a woman in vengeance destroy a man of God.
AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN!
