this video was awesome! thanks so much, this is EXACTLY the type of video I am always digging around for, Its not that I dont like folders. I have plenty, and I plan to have much more, but my primary daily carry is always gonna be a fixed blade, with a neck knife and or a folder as backup. At 34 years old, I find that I just prefer a fixed. I know lots of younger guys (younger than me) are all about the folder, but I hope the demand for small fixed blades grows, because I would love to have a ton of new options for my collection, so lets all try to make the trend lean that direction eh? thanks again. im gonna subscribe in hope of more great content like this!

I've owned a couple of those CRKT Obake knives, they're a very handy and agile little knife. The resin-impregnated nylon really does give a lot of good traction, a lot of terrain between the wrap for your hand to set in. They will get very dirty with use though, and don't clean as easily as your g10 or other materials; much like micarta. It's a good knife when you're having to hold onto something but still need your knife at the ready, it's handle is slim enough and very well textured to easily hang on between the ring and pinky fingers out of the way while you manipulate an object, and the slim blade shape is good for just general mobility, compact cutting or witling, and just picking or scraping in a tight spot where a wider blade shape would be insufficient.
I EDC several knives, among them a fixed-blade knife with a six inch blade and an overall length of about ten inches, in a sheath I made. Strangely enough, in my area ( middle TN ) nobody even gives it a second glance, as a rule.
Really my folders i carry everyday are as long as most of the knives you showed, but when mine are open my smallest has 41/2in blade. I believe there is no substitute for reach. I really did like the harpoon blade. I tried the Obake I didn't like carrying it. It would be ok if I didn't sit down AllDay. I normally carry a vaquero xl serrated as a backup self-defense for cutting stuff I carry broken skull. I think if fixed blades were cheaper I might try them but the ones I really like cost over $150 like Bradford guardian or the esse i also tried the tops msk but didn't like it gave it to my brother.
I wish I could carry my Perrin Street Beat. CA bans this excellent knife and other fixed blades. The knife itself reflects Perrin's expertise. Really fine review.
My favorite is the Fred Perrin, Le Petit Bowie, which is made in France and a better material value than the "subway/street beat." IMO. I really like a Lionsteel manufactured knife called the Dendra Inazuma. The Bastenelli Mako and Silence Slim get carried once in while, my wife carries the Silence Slim exclusively. Bradford, ESEE, get time and comparable to that Tops Poker you show, Lionsteel H2. I'm still waiting on the triple grind Smilodon from Pinkerton. I'm not sure if it is fetish or addiction, perhaps just an unapologetic constitutional right. Applause ensues.
I own many Tops. Also love Wharncliffe . but for me, the Poker isn't relevant to my style. I'm edge in, not edge out. But I will do double edge reverse grip
@@OGBladeReviews Best price I’ve seen lately is at Chicago Knife Works (& shipping is free) - had a custom kydex sheath made by RK Custom Kydex for $28
Street Beat was my favorite, followed by the Harpoon, then the Bastinelli. Don't carry fixed blades in my pocket but liked that you were thinking outside the box for video ideas.
Thanks, I think about carrying fixed, but generally always folders. However, once jacket weather is here in the Northeast I like to hang a small fixed blade in my ScotteVest tactical jacket in one of the panel pockets... 😁🔪👍
@@OGBladeReviews appreciate your reply. All of my fixed blades have 5 inch + blade lengths except for 1 neck knife I can't locate after my last move. It's sheath was warped in a house fire so got stuffed in a box , ha ha : ( Been interested in getting a new necker but haven't seen one that grabs me.
I have a few bastinelli knives. I'm a fan, but I don't carry or train with what I own....sometimes....but I should more....I hate being a "safe queen". The cheap price and being easily replaceable obake makes it more an edc. I don't like that part of my personality. The expensive, hard to get blades, are sometimes over protected by the owner. Is actually like to sell/ trade what I don't use
I've handled the Sin and it's a bit too small. I do like Tsukamaki wrapped handles, but I put off on that model a number of times. The red V2 is nearly 4 in in blade length and for me a perfect size!

More singles and comparisons on the way. Welcome and glad you're enjoying the channel 🗡️👍🗡️

...with gratitude. ⚔️ Thank you! 👍
I carry only fixed blades. My favorite is my WINKLER belt knife.

Well done thank you. now I have some more knives to add to my list of "knives to buy". please keep up the great videos.
Round of applause. Clapping. Stayed to the end. Hello from Toronto Canada
Perrin street bowie goes with me everywhere.

Agreed. Plastic belt loops agent a favorite. So many better options. The indented finger choil is very correct. I am a combatives guy
Totally agree on the Spyderco Street Beat. Great video!
love the red v2.
I have a handmade Perrin Combat Bowie. Love his designs!
Perrin and Bastien Cove both know what they are doing..... something in that French water.
👍🗡️😁

Totally agree! Good luck in CA 👍🗡️
Vote for Recall and you might be able to carry it!!!
You can open carry any blade length here in CA. LA is the exception to that unfortunately.
Excellent collection and information.
-Thank you

I have the CRKT Burnley It's a nice knife but Never sees any pocket time.I forget about it I think it's in the bottom of my toolbox
Know what you mean. Fixed blades aren't as easy to carry as folders... 😁👍🔪
I wish i would have bought five of them.
The reason the harpoon showed as 1095 instead of D2 is because Kabar/Becker has a Harpoon that’s 1095.
The Fallkniven WM1 definitely needs to be on this list
I'm overdue for a renewal of this theme so we'll see if I can get my hands on one....🗡️👍

I've had some d2 that rusts easy if I don't use it. I love 1095
Sometimes I put a basic rubber band or two tied wrapped around a g10 handle
I'm a big fan of jimping. Super necessary

I kept waiting to see if the street beat had a 4 finger grip or if the handle was shorter but never got an anwer
Four fingers. Some things do get missed.... 😎
you need a custom wrapped sin from bastinelli little better for an edc then the red

New sub, love the content!
Which one has the sharpest factory edge?
That would be hard to measure. Maybe a three-way tie with Street Beat, Metamorph and Bastinelli....
I use a hair dryer. Don't have a heat gun
Only care about how far it sticks out of a pocket. Alas, it doesn’t matter to some.
I have a few obake. I train with them. You can buy several. Break them. Throw them away. And not care.
It says street beat on the handle lol
Always in a too obvious location, while I'm checking the blade instead... LOL 😂
Thanks!
If you wanna dump that bastinelli, I'll negotiate a trade. No pressure
Neck cords have a "break away" device...
Most should. Thanks for the terminology. 🗡️👍
Discovered you today. I have a great collection too. I wanna sell trade some. Interested?
I'm holding for now, but thanks for watching and asking. 👍
