    Quick tip with the weathering powder, you should first sand lightly with 1000 grit sandpaper then apply the weathering powder as It gives the powder a spot to fall in

    I find that some of these techniques, like dry brushing highlights, work well for miniatures but I don't like them on Gaslands cars. They fit very nicely on cartoonist creatures in Warhammer and the like because they enhance the cartoon feel, plus work well with organic shapes, but on vehicles they just look unnatural and forced. I find the best way to create highlight is to either scuff the paint along the edges to the bare metal or paint highlights with metallic paint, simulating said scuffs. Then carefully and tactfully sponge on some rust, including bright oxide paint. The result is much more natural and fitting.
    All a bit subjective, I know. I have seen some really good paint jobs that were a bit more "warhammery" but they are really high end, highly detailed that throw you over the suspension of disbelief barrier and I haven't figured out how to achieve them.

    I forgot to point out - don't forget to matt varnish your model when it's done! I've also been told you should use a normal drill for drilling out rivets - not a dremel. :)

      bah...I have been using my dremel for months, it works fine; just don't be a fool and don't drill holes into yourself.

    I actually ran a Dark Future campaign way back when. We ended up with some pretty high level drivers. Good times! Gaslands is definitely a much easier rule set to figure out for one off games of vehicle mayhem.

    Just getting into Gaslands and I've seen some people strip their cars of the original paint prior to priming them. What do you suggest? Thank you so much for this video I can't wait to do my first car this week.

    • @EsotericOrderGamers
      @EsotericOrderGamers  3 роки тому

      I just spray it with black primer; considering it's going to be beaten up like crazy, why bother being neat? :) I suppose if there was some painted decal or something on the side you want to get rid of it?

      I mostly use old Dark Future weapons, but of course they're not readily available. I think there are some companies out there making some. For this, your Google search is as good as mine, but I found this: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1944924/where-order-good-bits-gaslands-modeling

      I've got as much idea as you Curt! Just rough them up as you would the car body and paint them a dark colour. The police car in this video already had windows like that. I have no particular techniques, you just have to experiment and have fun. :)

      Ebay Warhammer 40k bits. You can usually get a handfull of weapons for pretty cheap. I think Ork weapons would look best, but that's just me.

    I don't know the rules of gaslands cause i dont like tabletop games, but im really interested in the crafting of those little post-apolatittic beauties, my question is: i can take the car i prefer to transform it, or i must follow some specific guidelines?

    Hello, i start to play gaslands and i try to make my first car.
    The problem is the black paint "CITADEL CHAOS BLACK" Don't stick with th metal and when you touch it with sometink hard the paint fall out… Have you an idea to how to fix it? matt vanish can fix it maybe?
    Thanks for all information you can give me
    (sorry for my English)

    • @EsotericOrderGamers
      @EsotericOrderGamers  6 років тому

      Did you prime the model? You don't paint directly onto the model, you spray it with a white or black primer first. Then after painting, you can spray varnish it to protect the paint job.

    • @gianlucagatti4576
      @gianlucagatti4576 6 років тому

      The Esoteric Order of Gamers citadel chaos black is not the primary ?

    • @EsotericOrderGamers
      @EsotericOrderGamers  6 років тому

      Yes, they have a primer called chaos black. That's fine. If you're using a primer and still having problems, perhaps you need to varnish the cars afterwards?

      i used electric masking tape for windows armor (if you want thinner armor, flush with windows frames), usually swap one or both axels with wheels and put off road ones on (depends if its FWD, RWD or AWD/4x4).

    Please don't recommend drilling out the rivets using a dremel. Use a proper drill for it. A dremel is not build for drilling.
    Besides that, great video :D

    • @EsotericOrderGamers
      @EsotericOrderGamers  6 років тому

      Whoops, thanks Nakul! I saw some other videos recommending it so I assumed it was the tool for the job. Thanks for the clarification!

    • @GrumblingGrognard
      @GrumblingGrognard 6 років тому +1

      bah, it works fine and yes dremels are made for drilling that is why they sell drill bits for them. :)

    • @khazidDK
      @khazidDK 6 років тому

      You won't find a regular drill bit on dremels site. They Can drill, but they are not made for it. Try putting in a drill bit, turn on the dremel and watch the drill from the side, it's going to "wobble". Just used a hand or electric drill, it's a lot safer and faster.

      Fair enough, I couldn't find any when I searched. But it still does not change the fact you should use a proper drill for drilling :)
