What usually works for me is using a air can. You can watch tutorials on that.
Air duster works well. We use compressed air but that requires a compressor.

Thanks for the teardown vidio mine had been bumped and now I believe the hard drive is dying so this was very useful also maybe for a new coat of thermal paste.

You have two RAM slots: one soldered 8GB and one removable 4GB. It's a DDR4 PC4-19200 2400MHz 260pin SODIMM memory type. Although to be honest I haven't quite found the removable RAM yet. In this model, it seems to be tricky. Especially since there is not much graphic info about this one.
Can you demonstrate how to fix the hinge mechanism on this laptop?
if you talking about hinges part that stays with the screen, you would have to replace it by taking apart LCD screen assembly ~10:25.
The big downside of that fix, that LCD bezel always gets clips broken and the doesn't stay in place. Very tedious and time consuming job that not always worth the time.
Power to laptop should be off when taking it apart, it appears to be powered on. Some voice over would be great. All those tools and you used your fingers to try to take parts out? Thought we should have started from the back when it was time to pry the bottom off.

David Rougely I found the right tool. It’s a T4. Got a Hyper tough 17 piece smartphone repair kit from Walmart for under $9. It had everything you need for this job.

I just cracked the corner of the glass screen / protector. My screen I see is fine with no abnormalities. What is the best way to take off the glass ? Any videos on that too? Thanks. ASUS Q524UQK
If we are understand your question right, the screen protector can be removed with the controlled amount of warm air, such as heat-gun or hair dryer (a lot of people have those). Do it at your own risk!
Does anyone know where the upgradeable RAM connector is located? I searched in vain foe a service manual, no joy.

About to put fresh paste on mine. Same model. So thx. Question. I lost my Pen and am trying to find one that works with this model. This model came with I think it was a wacom pen. But when I search Amazon for this exact model I find ones that work for all kinds of other models but nothing specific for this model. Know of anywhere I can find a pen that is made for this model? I have a question.
My mom dropped her laptop (The same model as this). The digitizer is now on the Fritz and the screen is cracked. To replace the glass/digitizer, would I have to take the screen apart to replace this due to the digitizer ribbon cable or not?

Can I clean out the dust (fan) just by removing the bottom case and using compressed air, or do I need to deassemble more?
I am worried I would screw it up :(
If you never got your answer, yes you can just remove the bottom and use a duster can to blow the fan clean. Its probably not required, but I disconnect the fan from the MOBO before spinning the fan motor as to avoid any sort of short.
Hey! So I'm trying to upgrade the standard HDD to a SSD and was wondering if the piece of motherboard that comes attached by default is necessary or not? Also is it a standard SATA connection or do I need to buy a new cable for the upgrade?
do u have to take out the bluetooth and wifi card wires to access the heatsinks?
You dont need to remove WiFi card for that, just the LCD screen connector.

Hi, is there a magnet in the hinge to recognize when the lid closes? When I closed it, the screen initially turn off but 3 seconds later it turn on again. If I have to suspend, then I have to close not all, I need to leave almost 1cm opened. I tell you I had changed battery, touchscreen, and webcam, because they died with the time, and maybe I touched something or decalibrate something, but I don´t know what. Could you help me, please? Mine is a Q534UX, but is very similar. Thank you
thanks for making this video! Do I have to disconnect the battery before I apply thermal paste for CPU/GPU(it looked like it was pretty hard to remove the cable)?
The battery cable is an easy lift off disconnect, if yours happens have the metal closing thing over it, just slide it forwards away from cable if it's captive to the board and vice versa if captive to the wire connector

When removing the silver part to remove battery, instead of pulling back, I pulled it up because that’s how it looks like you did it in your video, I literally ripped it out of my motherboard, because you did a poor job of explaining to pull back gently instead of pulling up. I ruined my laptop, thank you for making my shitty day even worse. Put in the video, this is for people who understand circuitry of computers. Because I had no idea I was suppose to do that until it was to late
Question. When taking out the blue tab to the bridge how do you do it. I'm a little nervous that will fuck up
The silver ribbon cable? Lift the little black tab on the connector and pull horizontally away from the connector using the blue tab. Doing it a shallow angle won't hurt it.

Does the fan separate from the heat sink or is attached in as one unit. Is it possible to replace the fan without first removing the heatpipes?
Yes, it does separate. You should be able to replace one or the other.

@@cristianvasiliu9025 Yes, those are the same size. Most of the laptops fans have same specs for standard laptop model (non gaming), but that is not true for the heatsink's they come for particular set only.
@@Laptopnuts Do you know anywhere where I may be able to find out how to detatch the heatsink from the fan so I can replace the fan without needing to replace the whole unit? There's so little info out there about it but the fan went so fast in this laptop and I've just been dealing with it haha

Any 2.5 inch drive will work. You can also get a NVMe M.2 2280 SSD for this laptop. I put a Samsung 970 EVO Plus in one recently.
@@MissileManiac2142 how do you put a standard 2.5inch in it? Do you just buy a SATA cord to connect since the default connection is don't through a piece of motherboard for power? I see the nvme port but I just want a SSD that's not nvme for the time being
@@coreybergfield7240 It already has a 2.5 inch 2TB HDD as stock so the connection is already there, just swap the HDD with whatever SATA SSD you want to. How you go about moving your information from one drive to the other is a different game.

Technically yes you can do that, but its never recommended. Unless you were being sarcastic and I completely missed it, my bad lol.

If you referring to potential wire failure on the connections, we would still have to pop the cover and wiggle the connections wires while laptop is has to have at minimum mobo is on, to test if there any flickering or other issues with the picture. The other way is to take everything apart and test cables with the multi-miter tester (line by line).

This model supports DDR3 RAM, up to 16GB

I'm not sure what model they're working on, but the Q524UQK takes DDR4 and there's only one easily accessible slot. I'm not sure if the other RAM is soldered on, but its on the keyboard side of the MOBO.

When I check in my command prompt it says there's 4 slots and can support up to 64 gb of ram....but not seeing the other slots and wasn't really looking to take the motherboard out of the case....
I have had this computer since summer of 16, I don't use it as much as I did in the past but it has started to lag, do you know what could cause this and how can I correct this problem? Thank you.
Most common cause for such the problems is the GPU which is on MOBO

My q524u ain’t getting switched on and neither am I able to see the charging light indication. What would be the possible reason for such an issue? Also getting a burnt smell from the charging port.

Does that happend (smell) only when you plug in your power adapter? Is do, we would recommend to try different AC power adapter. And if the issue still with the smell most likely the issue with he charging port or even worst mobo.

10:23 I would assume under that black adhesive, but it looks like it may be soldered on the MOBO and not a removable stick.

You will need to remove the the LCD bazel, which is only possible by braking some plastic brackets.

The Q524U, UQ, UQK has an NVMe M.2 2280 slot in the middle of the motherboard next to the silver RAM cover. Should say Pcie *2 on board
The back of mine has Q524U as the model, but the BIOS name is Q524UQK
