Cool Video and When did you start doing You Tube vids. Have a 2017 F150 that I'm constantly tinkering with, so if you ever want another one to work with..give me a shout!
I started in 2017 or so I've been missing for a while dealing with some stuff but hopefully be back at it very soon! A big video will be coming when I post next!
I bought the Ford OEM damper, got it cheep, and it doesn't make noise love it. also bought the LED they are to bright for the backup camera. can't see at night as good, to foggy. also the license plate is also to bright at night. also got the seat latch of the drivers back passenger seat. great.
I got the 2 pack. I put one back up light and the other in the brake light. You can see the brake light about 3/4 mile back. I don't put them in the tag lights to have more stealth! Lol
I kept coming back to this video for reference because you explained the hell out of everything! I just bought a 2017 XL STX and these were my first mods. It’s also my first truck so everything is new to me. Thanks for the video man, good stuff.
Did you notice any issues with your key fob not locking while the lights are still on after you close the door? I just installed the lights you suggested and am now having that issue.
Lonestar Garage turns out it’s an RFI interference issue. When I walk to the front of the truck it works fine. When I walk to the back where the lights are it doesn’t work. The LED bulbs are causing interference with the key fob signal.
Lonestar Speed 2018 f-150 ford factory LED taillights. $500 on eBay every once in a while. Requires plug and play wire harness adapter for $160 on eBay or a $40 ford harness and rewire the taillights. I did the $40 ford harness rewire it was easy. Read the f-150 forum for all the part numbers and how to. You’ll also have to use forscan to eliminate hyper flash if you use the $40 ford harness. I believe the $160 eBay one has resistors and the hyper flash isn’t an issue. I already had the forscan setup so I didn’t mind doing the $40 harness and programming myself to save some money.
All LEDs is the first thing I did to my 2020 F150, plus a hitch light that will light up for brakes, day time running light, and reverse. Look it up in amazon is square red with white in the middle. If you are handy you could work it so that the wiring will be hidden from plain view.
i mean the two lights inside the cab that come on the truck with more expensive packages. they have a switch to turn them on inside the box on the left side.
Are you talking about the in bed led lights? If so this truck has them installed from the factory so I can't make a video on installing them. I'm sure there's a video out there already.
@@geoffmaxwell4461 I'll post a great list below this comment, might get blocked depending on this channels comment settings. So if you don't see it, that's why!
Great MODS! I just got a 2018 FORD F150 XLT for my wife and I. After watching this video, I ordered the tailgate assist from Amazon - awesome equipment. i just got the LEDs and will change those out this week. Great video and instructions; easier than the instructions provided.
You must not live in Maryland, putting those “Off Road” LED’s on your truck. Years ago I had to change out the Sockets and Lenses on my Wife’s Monterey Van, Tag Lights, for the second time. I put the matching LED Lamps in to keep from burning them up. We went across a Toll Bridge, got pulled over, by the Bridge Cops. Their Camera couldn’t read the License Plate. I got an Equipment Violation, had to change back to incandescent lamps, get inspected at the State Police Barracks. BTW The State Officer, told me I shouldn’t have admitted to the LED’s, just saY the Lenses are new, and OEM, and point out the.DOT Imprint.
wonder if u could do a video on putting lights with a kit in the tailgate that can be turned on with the switch on the bed. great video and excellent instructions.
actually im thinking about buying on for my new truck . but, its blue jean blue (ford) which means it needs blue lighting not red. can u do this change if I ordered one on the computer.??
The bulb assembly has electrical tape wrapped around it and excess wire. Cut the tape off. Push in the clip on the side of the assembly. Get a small screwdriver and pry up on the bulb. On each side of the assembly there are two holes. Get a very small screwdriver and push it in while prying upwards. This will fully remove the bottom of the broken bulb. You may have to do it a few times to get it all out. Just be somewhat gentle when doing this not to damage the bulb assembly. Put in your new bulb, plug the assembly back into the connector, and good as new.
I add a similar damper for $17, well worth it. Cargo light upgrade I understand but making your license plate easier to read at night? I'd get half wattage bulbs if I could for that.
boomer16323 i live in ny no shop really cares about inspection they just plug you in and slap the sticker on your windshield my truck doesnt even “pass” inspection cuz my windows are too dark.
In Texas we have bigger things to stop like street racing and illegal registrations so you have to find a cop that has something out for you for that to be the reason they pull you over.
Not sure why you keep saying when your putting an LED Bulb in that it should not matter which way the bulb goes in. It’s an LED...light emitting DIODE. It does matter. That’s why you have to flip over if it doesn’t work. 🙄
Actually about $30-$40 extra! Dee Dee installs much easier and if you watch videos performs better! The only question is will it last longer? Years from now I'll let you know.
I have used deezee for 6 years ,no problems ,,just put it on my new f150..there is another brand that replaces the right side of the tailgates bracket.
Everett Tice I haven’t seen any difference in performance between your video and my truck. I like the fact that the stock on you don’t see it it’s hidden behind the tail light
Hey dude, you mind leaving the brand of bulbs you used or the link to those same bulbs? Don't want to end up buying the wrong parts! Also..great videos man really helpful! Just bought the same truck same colour so I'm looking forward to your next videos! You got some really cool simple mods to deck out the truck!!
I was looking at reviews of the bed light - there were concerns mentioned about using for this purpose as they say they'll get hot enough to melt the housing. Any thoughts/experience?
HID's are technically what should be put in the housings on our trucks. there are some good shops in town that can get you set up. I recommend The HID factory there on the NW side of town.
They sold me some specialty lighting stuff and backed it up when I had a issue.. I wouldn't cheap out on head lights. If you do something will go wrong at the worst possible time!
Mark Allen I have the deezee version assist and it works great. I don’t care how clean it is, it’s hidden 99% of the time and it’s under $30 vs $60 for the ford part.
Same! i put it on like 4 days after I got the truck and I haven't noticed it. it isn't in an area that you look often. It's out of sight out of mind for something that may get used a few times a week for me. they both do the same job. I forget it's not OEM when I open the tailgate.
Or use a thin strip of duct table on the bulb and fold it over on itself to pull the bulb
I enjoy your videos
Thank you!
Great video thanks, a quick question if I may, were there any codes you have to deal with? Thanks again
No codes will come up.

Do you use the same bulbs for the reverse tail light as you do in the cargo lights?
No they are different.
That's the first thing I did on my new F150, new LED bulbs for the rear including the backup bulbs. I used Phillips LED bulbs and they are awesome.
I’ve. done all of these mods to the rear plus oem led taillights and the taillights are the best mod for the rear so far.
What do you mean LED tail lights exactly??? Im looking at tail lights so I could use some input!

Yep still going strong!
Why didn’t you change the middle light to led?
Because there is a red glass and won't be as bright contrast as oppose to the clear glass.. hope this helps
Yes, thanks! Great video
How do I take it out if I broke the license plate bulb in the housing
I'm not sure exactly.... I think the whole housing comes out of the bumper somehow but I don't know how. Good luck!!

my plate lights dont even work anymore lol i havent bothered to replace them in 5 yrs
Most places it's not a issues but where I live the cops prey on any little thing.
john russo, in PA you'd fail the required annual inspection. And cops look for your current inspection sticker. Like $140 fine.

What type of wedge bulb
The tail gate is really light don't need helpers, my lights work fine and nothen is from China! All the money I saved now I can have a nice day!
Thanks for your opinion. FYI most of the parts that make up the truck are from mexico and china but if your happy thats all that matters.

Yeah sometimes I see a glare from my led tag lights on the camera
