Pioneer Chicken was the BEST fast food chicken!!! I grew up on this & have missed it ever since they closed. I still think of it & crave it on a regular basis to this day. I WISH they’d open more locations. Nobody has breading like theirs. It’s amazing!

I really don't get what people see in Popeyes chicken is dry at least the one in my city is. Plus it's nasty inside and outside and the staff is a bunch of rude ghetto ass hood rats that don't even care about their jobs and don't care how they serve you either. Place definitely needs to be closed cause I no a inspector can't go in there. Because if one did I'd say within five minutes he'd shut the place down for unsanitary and the food not being handled right and for being just straight up trifling and nasty as hell. The staff there should never ever work around any food cause I swear they look like they don't bath and they smell musty as fuck.. Not trying to be a hater but I gotta keep it a buck. It's nasty and terrible service.

I have loved Pioneer Chicken for over 50 years. The only chicken that was better was the old Golden Bird which has been gone for almost 15 years. I grew up eating gizzards from the age of 6 or 7, and am now 83 years old and still love gizzards. Will have to make another trip up to East L.A. to get some more of that delicious Pioneer Chicken as it has been two years since I went there.

Grew up on the two Pioneer Chicken locations in Echo Park and Silver Lake. Some fond memories there. I hit up that last location a few times a year for the nostalgia of it all. I'm glad the family is still in the business.
I remember Crenshaw & Slauson. Sad that they closed, but at least we got Louisiana Fried Chicken tho. I mostly remember the Pioneer that used to be on Vermont & Florence by the old Super Buy market (now El Super); that was my go-to as a kid since my family lived around the corner from that one back in the 80s

A few years ago it was demolished and made into a panda express or something like that. They had great burritos and carne asada nachos. Back in the mid 90's I almost got rushed in the middle of that intersection (Soto and Whittier) for basically being Black at that restaurant - in East LA.
Pioneer was our go to for the best fried chicken. It beats kfc, church's and all the others. I'm so far away, that I can't even think about going there. It looks so clean and professional too. I grew up near one that was located in East Hollywood/Silver Lake and was sad when they turned it into a Del Taco. Loved getting their cole slaw with 2 legs and a breast; Add it with some of mom's home made whole beans, salsa, and corn tortillas, it was heaven my dude.
It's better than Popeyes hands down.

I remember Pioneer Chicken here on Oahu in the 70’s. The building is still standing, but it’s now a local eatery. I like how you go to these mom and pop places. Thank you for supporting them!

Grew up on the two Pioneer Chicken locations in Echo Park and Silver Lake. Some fond memories there.
I hit up that last location a few times a year for the nostalgia of it all. I'm glad the family is still in the business.

I remember Crenshaw & Slauson. Sad that they closed, but at least we got Louisiana Fried Chicken tho. I mostly remember the Pioneer that used to be on Vermont & Florence by the old Super Buy market (now El Super); that was my go-to as a kid since my family lived around the corner from that one back in the 80s

There used to be a good mexican restaurant right across the street from there. A few years ago it was demolished and made into a panda express or something like that. They had great burritos and carne asada nachos.
Back in the mid 90's I almost got rushed in the middle of that intersection (Soto and Whittier) for basically being Black at that restaurant - in East LA.

Pioneer was our go to for the best fried chicken. It beats kfc, church's and all the others. I'm so far away, that I can't even think about going there. It looks so clean and professional too. I'm proud of that family for keeping it going. Congrats, Alex for doing it well and right. Blow up even more❤😊
