I think you are very wrong about the decline of the Catholic Church, Father. The problem is NOT that the church is too conservative and follows the Scripture. The problem is the exact opposite. The Catholic church got too cosy with secular power, it is ditching Christian moral principles in favour of "being nice" and "not to offend anybody", it feels insincere and lukewarm, it's lacking drive. Catholic priests celebrate mass more as a procedure and community gathering rather than true worship of God. The standards have dropped significantly. People are attending mass in sportswear, women with short skirts and deep cleavages. It can be clearly seen in Ireland. All major Catholic holidays are heavily secularised - think Christmas, Easter and St. Patrick's day. Where is the church in all that? Santa Claus, Easter eggs and green frocks beat Jesus 100:1. Catholic Church carers about Palestinians, but is completely silent about prosecution of Christians around the world (Nigeria, Armenia, China, the US)
Just look what are the fastest growing religious on Earth: Islam, Orthodox Christianity on the traditional side and some Protestant denominations on the modernist side. It is not difficult to see why. If you look at immams and Orthodox priests with their beards wearing traditional garments, preaching in beautifully decorated mosques and churches, you say wow, these guys are really dedicated and they take religion very seriously! Islam or Orthodoxy is not contaminated with secular ideology.
On the other side of the spectrum, liberals go for Protestantism.
Catholic Church is growing in Africa and Latin America but declining in the West, because it hasn't found it's place. It's neither traditional, nor modern and that's why it is losing believers.
And of course, constant smearing and attacks by secular media and political establishment is not helping. Catholic Church needs to go back to its roots, put God and Christian morality in the first place. ✝️
Not so in Scotland, we have increasing numbers (although not large) year by year of protestant converts and athiests. In recent years, I have noticed an understandable shift in how Irish catholics are viewed by Scottish catholics, not very highly, when in the past it was the opposite.
I have to say as an Irish person for many years living in Scotland and revisiting Ireland frequently I am shocked at the ignorance of the faith and casual attitude towards the mass over there.
Almost every Sunday here there is a collection for some Catholic charity. In all the years back visiting Ireland, I have never seen a single collection or any awareness of poverty, conflicts and people in need.
I have had a few protestant friends here pray the rosary with me, and here's the curious thing, they have an implicit belief that the Catholic church is the responsible one and the denomination that does the speaking up. I think in Ireland the laity needs to seriously get moving and support their parish priest and help in the flourishing of the parish. I get the impression alot of Irish priests are pretty much on their own in their own parishes. Not so here in Scotland.

The current Age of Grace began with Pentecost and the Great Commission, which IS spreading the spiritual Kingdom of God in a hostile world. It’s not our job to establish His Millennial Kingdom. Yeshua will take care of that when He returns. While Israel’s return is a sign of the end of this Age, we shouldn’t yearn for a 3rd Temple or False Messiah to come before Christ’s work is accomplished.
