No SD Card No removable battery plus no more IR Blaster ! Samsung you must be on a suicide mission. It is hard to believe that Samsung is stupid enough to think that the reason sales are down is because of not having a totally premium built shell. Well now sales are going to be even worse because Samsung has just removed the most important differentiating features from their devices. Just because a bunch of Tech weenies are crying all of the time about premium build does not mean that is what most people want. What people want is options so the more options you have the better your device will sell !
+Brett Johnson I agree with this. I think many people will skip for Note 5 and look for something else. Until the Note 6 come out with the features mentioned.
Shayded Agreed. The newer improvements are remarkable--live broadcasting via a cell phone is a really neat feature, but Samsung could've done a better job combining the features of the Note 4 (Interchangeable battery, expandable memory) and the camera resolution stayed the same except for the selfie camera. With the Note 4, you can get an expandable battery from Magen Power that's 2x the capacity and a back cover to complement the battery and you still keep the NFC feature and you get wireless charging for less than $100. Think about that for a second----------You can get 2 or 3 days use without another charge and you got decent features with the Note 4 if you're a Samsung fanboy/girl. Me personally, I'm brand loyal to Motorola. I had a Droid X2 for almost 5 years, FINALLY broke it, got a Nexus 6 and haven't looked back.
Frank Barbuto do you have specs on the cover and battery to achieve the 2-3 day charge. I am thinking of going Note 4. Not going to bother with a phone I can not expand.
Samsung disappointed me by taking away the IR blaster!.. You can take away the sd storage for the sake of a 64gb phone that writes faster, and maybe the removable battery (ouch) but not my blaster! How am I suppose to operate my TV, sound system, ps3, and fan without my IR blaster?? Damn Samsung, they giveth and taketh away!
+Skubee Raw I have a Sony TV that allows you to control the ps3 with the TV remote through HDMI access. I have a universal remote app on my Note 10.1 2014 that controls my TV and PS3. It's not possible without the IR blaster.
What is with that infrared blaster its not even that important....u can buy s6 if u want the infrared blaster they remove it because the ir blaster thingy will take more ram space and the device would be slower......so shut up and just stick with it...or stay with note 4 or ur windows shit..or whatever
I have been saying the same thing, the Note 4 looks more professional, the Note 5 looks like a cheap Chinese toy wrapped in fragile glass, no them you. I can also launch my camera on the Note 4 with one click of the home button, using Nova Launcher and it's many features, some that Samsung copied for the Note 5.
Mike Spyke I'm just hoping that later on (probably early next year at least), Samsung will provide a version of the Note 5 that has a removable cover, bigger battery, and SD card option. It would be great if they did.
The reason why I mention this was because the S6 Active came out. I'd planned to get the Note 5 originally but after seeing it finally come out, I was duly unimpressed. Also, I've read that the G Pro series might not be coming out early next year but it's not been confirmed. So, the options for phablet size seem severely limited.
Seems like more of a downgrade from the Note 4 if you ask me. Not much of an upgrade here same camera with small minor features which only someone picky about a phone would choose. Plus without expanding your storage for such a big phone with 4K videos or having a longer lasting battery to watch movies back on such a big screen and slippery back. I just have to say that I'm glad I just got my Note 4 and this will last me the next 2 years cos nothing is worth upgrading to for the Note 5
I am going to stick with my note 4 for the coming years until samsung figures something out with the note 6. Hopefully they don't disappoint any of us in the coming future
DaveSwag You are right, and Samsung and different service providers know this as well. That is why they are going to be offering great promotions to upgrade. For example, sprint will be offering $200+ for any phone towards an Note 5 or s6+.
I am very disappointed with samsung because what made the note series is no longer there to call a note. No SD card and removable battery. I am 90 percent sure that note user are going to look at different phones that gives them those options.
I am already looking around I might as well wait for the next nexus as that doesn't have removable battery or SD card slot which previously stopped me from buying it
Grant Page true , no pen on any other phones except note series , I hope that rumored Microsoft phone with a pen is true because it will be first ever competitor to note series
I'm in the US and just received the notification that the Note 5 has arrived. Thank you so much for your review, it has helped me decide that I'm sticking with my Note 4. I definitely just experienced how useful was to have a second battery handy when you "forget" to bring your fast charger on a trip. Also, I'm old school and definitely want to keep using my sd cards, actually this is why I decided to go with a Samsung instead of an IPhone. Your review was in depth, much better than my carrier's website. Keep up the excellent work!
I loved the presentation Saf. It undoubtedly was Super ;) Thank you for zero drama & pure information sharing. You've got yourself a new sub. Keep it straight & descriptive like this. Super Neat Video Bruv :)
Thanks A lot bro, this video is so helpful, organized and it's the best comparison between two devices i have ever seen! Thanks Again Man "Liked&Subscribed" keep the good work up and ur going to hit millions of subscribers coz u deserve it :)
Very good review! You def. earned my subscription... but I agree with most people, the IR blaster, removable battery, SD card slot gone is bad. That was the reasons I moved from iPhone, but stupid me decided to buy it anyways now I have to wait another year and a half to get another one... Hopefully there will be a great new Note by then... with those features added back and then some!
I dun really care bout the IR blaster or front facing speaker, I am more bummed that it doesn't have expandable storage. I like to separate my sd cards according to my work and preference. The design is nice but I'd eventually buy a casing for it. I love the spen clicky and the improved note function. Yep, the only complain I have is the non expandable storage.
Haziq Connor yeah i know. I guess im just used to having sd cards. Not gonna deny that design is really good and the fingerprint lock is pretty nifty. But first it must reach the rest of the world.
Totally helpful, well compared review. Note 5 just arrived in Kenya unfortunately :(... Either way, this side by side comparison is uber helpful. Thanks!
i love your vids, Saf! very detailed and non-biased! If i had the note 4, I'd keep it! i feel like its personal preference at this point. i prefer extra storage and spare batteries :)
Haven't seen your vids in a while. Diggin' the beard bro! Nice job on this one. I think I'll keep my Note 4. The 5 doesn't really appeal to me. No expandable storage. Can't switch out for a fresh battery when I'm camping. Slippery fingerprint magnet. And that clicky S-pen will wear out quickly, you guys watch. I'm good.
Another excellent review from SuperSaf TV! Unlike Samsung they seem to be getting better all the time where Samsung is hell-bound to downgrading their products rather than upgrading. My Note4 will therefore be the very last Samsung phone. I'm holding on to it for as long as I can and I'm sure that in time there will be a lot more Android based phones that INCLUDE removable battery and external SD Card. Probably from China...
i would agree, i like the radio option/chip also , sometimes it is nice to just have a radio going that you do not have to worry about using your bandwidth up , you may want to listen to news, or you may have a favourite radio station that you can listen to while your out side working.
very good review. helps me understand abit better about the 2 phones. i had a note 5 ordered today but cancelled it again because im still not sure what to think of the non removable battery, ir blaster and no sd slot. i seen the xperia z5 is coming out looks to be good think its out maybe october this year?
SuperSaf, love your videos and I'm a subscriber. Question for you or anyone who reads this. what day think of cleaner apps. ones such as Clean master and 360 security app?
so which 1 should I get? I'm up for an upgrade I have a iPhone 5s hate it but always wanted a Note phone which one should I get? don't really mind about the battery and sd card
IR Blaster is very important for some people like myself. Memory SD card is useless because it can mess up and wipe sometimes. So thats a wise choice. Removable battery im not bothered because I can always use a portable Xiomi charger on the go. Yes N5 has a faster processor, better Camera, better fingerprint sensor and lastly looks better. All are minor differences but it has big downgrade which is IR Blaster and im very happy witg my N4. I will only get an upgrade maximum in few years and a Phone which will have IR Blaster!
A wonderfully presented and unbiased presentation. I think Samsung has made a mistake in their new marketing strategy: No expandable storage, fixed battery, market restrictions on the Note 5 in favour of pushing the Galaxy 6 Edge+ (in Europe). I was going to upgrade to the Note 5 from a Note 3 but the way Samsung are going has prompted me to perhaps try a phone from Huawei or Xiaomi which offer me the features and spec I need rather than having these forced on me by Samsung. There doesn't seem to be much difference to Apple's marketing strategy so I might as well source a much cheaper phone, which does what I want, elsewhere. If I need to import a Note 5 to get my hands on one, I may as well import a Huawei or Xiaomi.
BlackFalcon Mobile Note series were always more functional and more powerful , and can see here the downgrade of battery from Note 4 and they used S6 chip
BlackFalcon Mobile I would argue that the S series has long been a stripped down and less powerful version of the respective Note phone that came out before it. Not so here.
As always outstanding video. ok lets see, IT blaster is gone, not a big deal for me. never used it. it sucks that the SD card is gone, but if that means faster phone then I'm fine with it. I have 32 gig note4 and I'm just over half full. and I'm only using 4 gig of my SD card. if I need more storage on the note 5 then I'll just back it up. there are many options out there for that. as far as the battery goes, I'm not to far away from a charging cable. if I got out in the missions or training then I have to battery packs which one is also solar powered too.
For me it's lost its appeal. I use the Note 3 at present and will stick with it. There is nothing out there that offers much more in terms of real advancements. I must have a spare battery and expandable memory. Note 4 and 5 no real must have 's. Note 3 can still hold it own. Great value phone.
Wireless charging has to be a major improvement in regards to wear and tear, re-plugging wires can take a toll on wear & tear. I am still being wishful thinking that eventually Samsung will have second thoughts & toss in a GN5 with a 128 GB, but a 64 GB does have me tempted. Currently, I still have my Galaxy Note 5, has never disappointed me since I purchased it in January, 2013. Excellent review.
I apologized, I meant "2", not a 5. However, been reading about the Note 6 rumors & it has encouraged me to wait for that model instead of upgrading my Note 2 to the Note 5. Seems the Note 5 is an experimental stage/model & the Note 6 will be the improved version of the Note 5, just a guess though.
+Wooohooohooo im an owner of all note devices EXEPT the note 5... currently im using a note 4 and its AWESONE... im a trumpet player and a gamer and let me say the note 4 is a beast it and can handel most psp games with little to no lag. if you dont want 2 wait try to get the note 4... from 10 ill give it a 9 just because of the metal frame, i like the plastic more because if i accidentally drop it, it will get a nasty dent compared to the plastic that absorbs more shock than metal...
has I've said before on another channel, I can live with a none removable battery if it's of a larger capacity, they fail me there, but why they had to take out the iR blaster? ?
i have a note 3, still love the damn thing..didn'tget the note 4 coz i waited for the note 5..i kinda hoped that it would be better, quite frankly id just buy a note 4 tomorrow..replaceable battery is still best if u think about it..depending on the way you use your phone, by 8 months of usage your battery is only at 80% efficiency..and with the note 5, you either bring your phone to the service center which is a hassle, or purchase a new one..with the note 4, just buy a new one and you're all set..my only gripe is that the note 4 is still a quad..wish it had been octa..and the speakers are at the back..big bummer..that's why i'm keeping my note 3..still love the speakers at the bottom..well, i'll just have to play the waiting game again and hope for the best for note 6..meanwhile, i'll get my note 4 tomorrow..
1. Note 5 no ir blaster. 2. non removable battery. 3. no micro sd card. The 3 reasons why I have always bought Samsung. big mistake Samsung. All you have done is produce an iPhone! I've bought another note 4 as a backup. I will not buy note 5 or 6 or xx without expandable memory or replaceable battery
nice presentation I was waiting for the Galaxy note5, but now I decide to go for note4, it is much much better than note5, it is very important to carry a backup battery with me when you travel or attend an interactive event rather than carrying a bulky power bank, and also the SD card is a must for any person using the camera with a high quality and resolution. note5 in not the phone that I am looking for now. I waist my time in just waiting Samsung to come up with a high end note5.
Anybody know how to fix the auto brightness issue on the S6 EDGE? If you don't know what i'm talking about let me explain: When auto brightness turned off the sensors/phone still think it's on and keep adjusting the brightness. You can test this by covering the sensors or exposing it to bright light and if your screen brightness changes then you have the bug.
I'd say the that the note 5 is not worth it if you have a note 4 or even note 3 and I've had my eye on the note edge and with the updates to the note edge I think I've come to a decision. Thank you SuperSaf for the great reviews. Cheers
ya I was really bummed. I have had every Note; phone or tablet except the Note edge and Note Pro. Every note generation ,in my opinion , paved the way for new innovation, keeping options open as well. Now, they are thinking too much about design and being more conservative. ...like Apple.
As far as I am concerned unless Samsung changes their ways all of the so called enhanced features on the newer S6 and Note 5 are irrelevant to me because of the removal of features that for me are a deal breaker that nothing else that is on the phone matters. The removal of the micro SD card slot along with the removal of the user replaceable battery is at the top of the list of deal breakers but the removal of the IR blaster on my Note 4 is also right up there. I hope Samsung reads all of the user feed back here on UA-cam about their products. Are you listening Samsung? Unless you put these features back into your future designs my Note 4 will be the last Samsung product I ever purchase and I would not care if you exited out of the mobile market. If I wanted an over priced mobile device that is like the damn iPhone or iPad I would just go out and buy one but I prefer Android but not at the expense of loosing vital hardware features! I can't wait until the new crop of Chinese smart phones make their way to the US markets. The status quo needs to be shaken up a bit!
They shouldve left the battery the same size or increased it. And they shouldve left the option for expandable storage. I loved the IR Blaster, now no more phone remote. that stinks. Great look aesthetically and swesome that they gave new features to the Note stylus including taking notes without unlocking your phone... but it wouldve also been great if they wouldve incorporated a function for the click. maybe make the clicky end turn the pen from write to erase and back again or something. Just an idea
I have an iphone 5s and I want to switch to a samsong note series, so should I get note 5? Or not worth it and go with note 4, cuz am a bit on budget ATM
Wail Bouymaj Depending on what you would desire. The Note 5 has a few new features and a nice, premium design, but lacks a removable battery, expandable storage, and an IR blaster all of which were on the Note 4. The Note 5 does have 4GB of RAM, a 64-bit chipset, and a stronger processor compared to the Note 4's 3GB of RAM and 32-bit chipset. This means that the Note 5 will run smoother and faster than the Note 4 but the Note 4 already performs well. Since you mentioned you were a bit on a budget, you may want to consider getting the Note 4 simply because it is around $200 cheaper than the Note 5 and it shares many features with the Note 5. It all really comes down to what you would prefer since there are multiple factors within these phones that may alter your decision. Hope you come to a conclusion on what you would like. :)
meh if note performa as smooth or better than my iphone then I dont need the xtra power and removable back is pretty useful since I travel and need xtra juice in my battery. So maybe ill get the note 4 :)
Got the note 2 at the moment and i was thinking to upgrade when the note 5 come out, not cause i need to (my phone still 100% functional and rooted bloatware free) but just wanted to have the feel of having a new phone lol. i think they rushed it a little n w the sd, battery, and ir blaster issues is more of a downgrade from last years note My question is, can u use a otg cable to access an sd card? Does anyone know? Cause w the fast and wireless fast charging i dont see battery as a big issue, (dont know why but my note 2 charges super fast w my wifes note 4 fast charger 70% in 1hr) ill be happy if note 5 can do that
OK then, so what about the note 4 64bit octa core, which wasn't sold in the uk but I got one online. Top benchmark score 51000. I don't think I'm going to bother with the note 5 as I got my note 4 about 3 months ago.
very good comparison. I don't have an issue with battery because i have the note 4 same battery as when I got it. it lasts be all day. I'm guessing my biggest concern is the lack of sd card but a couple times my SD card has "unmounted " and I've lost information and pictures on it, and I have the 32 gb sd card. Maybe that's why I'm considering upgrading to the note 5.
when they release a version with a removable back and upgradable then I'll buy one. damaging didn't listen to the millions of customers who said that we didn't want to lose our option to upgrade and have an extra battery as I have with my other notes. I keep at least two batteries per phone for backup so that if I'm doing conference calls from my phone I'm not down with a stand by battery to charge while using my other one.
really love the design but frustrated bout the same problem everybody does.. battery and sd card.. i'll see how does the battery life last.. when the phone launches.. then i should decide note 5 or iphone 6S plus.. sad... really have high hopes for the note. been using note since 1 2 3 and 4.
He's probably the best reviewer of them all.

I don't consider a phone wrapped in fragile glass premium, wtf is wrong with this picture.
note 5 not worth upgrading! am keeping the note 4! will wait for note 6! note 5 sucks not a big difference! samsung is doin what apple does!
+Brett Johnson I agree with this. I think many people will skip for Note 5 and look for something else. Until the Note 6 come out with the features mentioned.
Brett Johnson I agree. Note 4 was clearly different from the S series....now it looks like Note 5 is an S6 with a Stylus.
Note 4 > Note 5
Rezwan Phone i can afford it, still sticking with note 4
Rezwan Phone If you can afford the note 4 you can afford the 5 lol.
But if I wanted an S6, I'd get the S6.

Sung-Hyun Kim ok get a note 5 and regret it forever.. am now addicted to the ir blaster N4, only that could make me not get a note 5
Wisdom Wissy you're so true
+Wisdom Wissy What does the IR blaster do anyway?
Royal Ham u can use ur phone as a tv remote
The best note 4 vs 5 comparison review I've seen so far in the early stage of the N5, thank you dude, keep up the good work.

Sang Jung also the IR blaster and water resistance, and I'm in.

I am going to stick with my note 4 for the coming years until samsung figures something out with the note 6. Hopefully they don't disappoint any of us in the coming future
Thank you very much for the very thorough comparison of these two phones. I was very impressed by the level of detail that you went into.
Great review showing the differences and letting the viewer make an educated choice as to whether to upgrade or not.

u can still use sd card on note 5 using the sd card adaptor. very convenient;)

Great Video SuperSaf TV . Will you do a note 5 vs iphone 6s plus video when it comes out?

+Reaperex123 wtf why would you need a radio in the 21st century? Go back to camping grandma.
Alim Khan you know nothing kid.
i would agree, i like the radio option/chip also , sometimes it is nice to just have a radio going that you do not have to worry about using your bandwidth up , you may want to listen to news, or you may have a favourite radio station that you can listen to while your out side working.
very good review. helps me understand abit better about the 2 phones. i had a note 5 ordered today but cancelled it again because im still not sure what to think of the non removable battery, ir blaster and no sd slot. i seen the xperia z5 is coming out looks to be good think its out maybe october this year?
Great overview. This is really helpful.
you do great reviews. keep it up!
Great video sir!
+1 suscriber nice work I like your way to explain
The Note 5 is available here in Singapore. It already has been available for a couple of days now, on our local carriers.
is the ir blaster the remote control function?
P Balix yes
Arjun Sandhu - why would they remove that???
+P Balix I use this a lot. When I eat at a restorant that have TV's on. I can control the channel.
+Arafat X lmao I have to try that.
Excellent video and a very useful and comprehensive comparison that helped me a lot to take my decision over. Thanks to the Video presenter
Will there be an edge version?
Note 5 is bigger version of S6 , End Story . ( Frustrated )
Totally agree with you , lol ^^
BlackFalcon Mobile Note series were always more functional and more powerful , and can see here the downgrade of battery from Note 4 and they used S6 chip
+BlackFalcon Mobile you have no idea about the note series. Go back to sleep with your iPhone or flip phone.
BlackFalcon Mobile my bad I didn't read it properly. I misread you mixing up the galaxy phone with the note series
I have 32 gig note4 and I'm just over half full. and I'm only using 4 gig of my SD card. if I need more storage on the note 5 then I'll just back it up. there are many options out there for that. as far as the battery goes, I'm not to far away from a charging cable. if I got out in the missions or training then I have to battery packs which one is also solar powered too.
the changes to the new note are enough to make me keep my note 4 as the improvements come at a huge cost ones I cannot imagine willing to accel
For me it's lost its appeal.
I use the Note 3 at present and will stick with it. There is nothing out there that offers much more in terms of real advancements. I must have a spare battery and expandable memory. Note 4 and 5 no real must have 's. Note 3 can still hold it own. Great value phone.
Help!! Getting a new phone today. I so want the note 5, but I don't know if I can so with the SC card slot. What would you do if you were me?
+infinitig2013 I will choose the Note 4. You won't regret.
dope review thumbs up & subscribed
Wireless charging has to be a major improvement in regards to wear and tear, re-plugging wires can take a toll on wear & tear. I am still being wishful thinking that eventually Samsung will have second thoughts & toss in a GN5 with a 128 GB, but a 64 GB does have me tempted. Currently, I still have my Galaxy Note 5, has never disappointed me since I purchased it in January, 2013. Excellent review.
WTF u got a note 5 in 2013???? holy shit u r terminator for doing time travel LMFAO LOL
Great review,i have the note4 but i don't know if it's worth the upgrade to the 5.....
Thank you, nice job!!!!
has I've said before on another channel, I can live with a none removable battery if it's of a larger capacity, they fail me there, but why they had to take out the iR blaster? ?
i have a note 3, still love the damn thing..didn'tget the note 4 coz i waited for the note 5..i kinda hoped that it would be better, quite frankly id just buy a note 4 tomorrow..replaceable battery is still best if u think about it..depending on the way you use your phone, by 8 months of usage your battery is only at 80% efficiency..and with the note 5, you either bring your phone to the service center which is a hassle, or purchase a new one..with the note 4, just buy a new one and you're all set..my only gripe is that the note 4 is still a quad..wish it had been octa..and the speakers are at the back..big bummer..that's why i'm keeping my note 3..still love the speakers at the bottom..well, i'll just have to play the waiting game again and hope for the best for note 6..meanwhile, i'll get my note 4 tomorrow..
Nice review mate
1. Note 5 no ir blaster. 2. non removable battery. 3. no micro sd card. The 3 reasons why I have always bought Samsung. big mistake Samsung. All you have done is produce an iPhone! I've bought another note 4 as a backup. I will not buy note 5 or 6 or xx without expandable memory or replaceable battery
tnxxxxxxxxxx Bro , Good job.keep it up.but am disappointed with Samsung, small battery and also no SD CARD why? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 😩😩😩😩😩😩
nice presentation
I was waiting for the Galaxy note5, but now I decide to go for note4, it is much much better than note5, it is very important to carry a backup battery with me when you travel or attend an interactive event rather than carrying a bulky power bank, and also the SD card is a must for any person using the camera with a high quality and resolution.
note5 in not the phone that I am looking for now.
I waist my time in just waiting Samsung to come up with a high end note5.
great video. too bad that the note 5 doesn't seem too appealing. would love to see an in depth of the s pen. thanks for another great video.
love your videos!!! ..
Definitely buying both August 21st.
the hdmi adapter for the note 4 doesnt work for the note 5...are there any alternatives?
Anybody know how to fix the auto brightness issue on the S6 EDGE?
If you don't know what i'm talking about let me explain:
When auto brightness turned off the sensors/phone still think it's on and keep adjusting the brightness.
Hey, a very precise comparison there. Sadly, the devices ship later for Africa market. Hell even for UK
The main camera of note 4 has an aperture of f/2.2 according to a lot of sites SuperSaf TV
Thanks for the wonderful comparison
lg g4 or note 5? power, camera, sd card n battery and price r a big deal 4 me
+supersaf TV Do you have an ETA on a UK release bro? You have a voice please use it, you have our full support, we all want the Note 5!!
I like the note 4 more, but I got the note 5 because of the specs. I didn't want to be left behind in terms of upgrades.
frosts maker Spec wise: yes, feel in hand: yes, hardware features: no.
Wail Bouymaj Great choice!
You gotta consider power saving modes as well. UPSM allows the phone to be up for weeks
He is the best detail reviewer of them all.
What if you charged it wirelessly and wired at the same time?
Adaptive Super Charging?
Got the note 2 at the moment and i was thinking to upgrade when the note 5 come out, not cause i need to (my phone still 100% functional and rooted bloatware free) but just wanted to have the feel of having a new phone lol. i think they rushed it a little n w the sd, battery, and ir blaster issues is more of a downgrade from last years note
My question is, can u use a otg cable to access an sd card? Does anyone know?
Cause w the fast and wireless fast charging i dont see battery as a big issue, (dont know why but my note 2 charges super fast w my wifes note 4 fast charger 70% in 1hr) ill be happy if note 5 can do that
he does make the best review
+Drr magneto thank you my friend :)
Did Samsung also remove the integrated hdmi from the charging port on the note 5 ? and the ir blaster ? BiG Bummer
Saf is so pissed of about the Note 5 that he didn't leave that funny ending. I'm with you man!!
i was thinking of replacing my note 2 and waited for note 5..after watching this i'd rather go with a note 4. great video sir!
great comparison!
