I was 10 years old when I watched this live on my TV. The amount of inspiration and pride that radiated through me was unforgettable! I was so proud of him and my country, my smile was huge! Seeing him and his brother, that made my heart melt. The pat on the back he gave his competitors shows what a great person he is. Not to mention the ROARING crowd, it gives me the chills all the time. The Peyong Chang 2018 Olympics began today, and still I return to the 2010 Olympics! ❤️ Just SO epic!
Same, I'll forever remember that specific moment, I was 11 back then, so much electricity in the air. As a Québécois damn I was proud when he won that medal, what a beautiful moment 😌
I was nine at the time, my family lives in Vancouver and we watched it live. I was just doing green hills at the time and now I can do double blacks. This guy inspired me to ski more.
Maarten Biewenga: Yep. I turned 18 in the hey day of hotdogging in the 1970’s. Recently returned from 7 straight days of skiing at Vail. Knees were fine during the 7 days. On the 2nd morning after getting back home I woke up and could barely walk lol. Never sustained a bad leg/knee injury but years of riding bumps back in the day slowly ground away knee material. The only thing that keeps me in the game these days is riding lots of mountain bike trails weekly in the “off” season. To the point that winter has almost become the off season. Something I accidentally discovered after becoming quite competent in mountain biking - a high quality, full suspension, enduro bike artificially gives me back a youthful body. Landing big jumps on my bike is smooth as silk and pain free as the suspension soaks up the landings that my knees (and back) no longer can alone on similar jumps skiing.
i remember watching this when i was eleven, i'm fifteen now and had an amazing feeling when Justine and Chloé won gold and silver in the same category. #GOCANADA
I was forteen ... Today he was even greater. I'm also happy 'cause 4years ago in the women event Canada was stole for their medal ! Happy to see them win this year. Just sad about Gilbaut Colas ... (Yeah I'm french).
i was in first grade for the 2010 olympics, i don’t think anything could ever match the atmosphere of these games. one of the biggest things from the 10s for me. life changing for every canadian. (+when the sochi olympics weren’t as big i was super bummed out as a ten year old, lol.)
I remember watching this on TV as a young boy of 10. It was breakfast time and I was eating a stack of moose pancakes with maple syrup. Such fond memories. 🇨🇦
The runner up from Australia who was actually a Canadian who grew up skiing on that hill. He was kicked off the Canadian team because he ran an internet spam business.
I remember watching this , the 2 Canadians before him were #1 and #2 , then the last American went and took the #1 spot , then the last Australian went and stole the #1 spot …. And then this man was the last person and Canadian to go , he was our last hope , and then he frickin did it and got gold for us , that was 14 years ago and I still remember watching this live , was so epic and amazing , it was a good day for Canada and therefore the world 🌎 🎉

My dad who is a surgeon: *heavy breathing. Not that he likes injuries but he gets paid…
😂😂 🤣 🤣 💀
The exact same thought I had for aerials!
I think that the atmosphere of the Vancouver Olympics was so much better than the Sochi ones now
Adam Golden and way better than pyongchang
We need the Olympics back in Canada ASAP

@@thomasdaintree3089 well Vancouver is in line for the 2030 Olympics
These games were a defining moment for Canadians and this was one of the best moments: our first gold medal on home soil!
Words can't describe how patriotic it felt watching this moment on TV as a kid.
I was 5 when I saw this. What a classic.
4 years later, he's still on top!
Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke and with bad knees
Man time flies XD
Still never forget it watching it on TV when I was 12! Even the commentators were very excited!
I was there. It was fantastic. Glad he won again.
Best jumps hands down. Kingsbury was really close though
I was watching this live on TV at the cafeteria of a mall in North Van, and everybody stood up and clap it was such a great moment! 👍🏽
So glad he won again in Sochi I love him!! He's so good!
Ah yes, Alex Bilodeau. Canada's first Olympic gold medallist to win gold on Canadian soil
Looking back on this sort of stuff is really cool and it always makes me cry because the early 2010’s olympics were so dear to me as a kid.
An amazing time, magic on the streets of Vancouver!

Gotta be my favorite winter Olympian!!!:):):)
On my way home from my cottage I think and I remember hearing the call on the radio. Still feeling chills
this came up in my feed 11 years later and I'm glad it did
Awesome Bilodeau! Four or Five years ago, he was the first to do a back full in a moguls competition, incredible.
So happy he won.
I watched this live with my dad when I was 13. Just remembered it randomly.

Much better without commentary
Still get chills watching this...
Best. Olympics. Ever.
Amazing!! Congrats to a great athlete!! You make us proud!
Truly amazing!!! Alex is the man!!!
I remember watching this on TV as a young boy of 10. It was breakfast time and I was eating a stack of moose pancakes with maple syrup. Such fond memories. 🇨🇦
No sure why anyone would do this. the knee and ligaments replacement is up by 1000% since this sport started
What’s the song on the background called?
crazy awesome..he is from montreal x
He won because of the time points: 7.21 versus 6.97 from the runner up from Australia.
Aerials and turns where almost equal to runner up.
The runner up from Australia who was actually a Canadian who grew up skiing on that hill. He was kicked off the Canadian team because he ran an internet spam business.
I'm speechless. Like a champion!
Goddamn that was beautiful.
Ha ha. Great job Canadians. His head remains so damn level and quiet throughout the run.
wish i had been there to see it myself damn
He did that on the boarders of my home. and he inspired me

Anyone know what the song is called in the background?
kernkraft 400
Fucking incredible
@therandomquakers I didn't say anything about chuck.
EPIC
im his son you now
When you see the guy skiing with the mouthguard on, then you know it's serious shit. Full-contact skiing, would you imagine that?
Incredible, skiing equivalent to F1 cars going full throttle around turns.

Why he jump that is much slower than without juping?
What.
Worst judging in the history of sports. Dale clearly deserved to win and Bilodeau was lucky to be on podium. A disgrace!
