- With this year’s truck inspection blitz focusing on steering and suspension issues, we turned to Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Bobby Simmons who showed us what he looks for when inspecting steering and suspension components on a tractor-trailer. Stay tuned for more videos showing additional component inspections from Trooper Simmons and Trooper John Sewell.
yeah like i'm going to crawl around under my truck every morning like that.
😂😂😂😂😂 they don't pay us enough for that bs
😂😂😂
TruckerSherm well in the end it’s for your safety.
@@Naturelife-ph3oi hey, I get it lol
I have so much to learn. I still don’t even know how to inspect my truck properly
Sure is nice of that driver to help himself into a potential violation..
Nice to know that driver is confident in his equipment, unlike those that hide or skirt around some stations cause they know they can’t pass!!
They played him like a puppet. Bow on your knees coward ^
That was a great thorough inspection, thank you.
Then have designated spots with bays we can check under the truck.
These idiots expect us to get under the truck and wiggle around lol 😅
Excellent video, thank you for sharing.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!

Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Rodrigo Stetson It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
@Enoch Marco glad I could help :D
Great video .
Wow, this a little much the government giving out inspections and tickets rediculous
I prefer taking my truck to the dealer shop they gonna makes sure of anything wrong on underneath some times we can’t see but fortunately the mechanic will find any problems, thanks
So how am going to rock my steering wheel and check any movement on that pitman arm ???
Out of all trucks 🛻 how many of these truck they do inspections like?
What about that front spring bushing
@ 1:24 " If its more than 50% its an out of service?
Still don’t understand why the dot doing the inspection has to armed like that
because failure to comply with the government taken far enough will ultimately end in your death.
Thanks for the video it's helpful
Now how on Earth is the average driver supposed to check all of that without getting under the truck!? Perhaps I should take my truck to a shop and get them to do an inspection once a month and have it documented so that DOT can't mess with me
What's wrong with that? My trucks are run through the Shop twice a month, bumper to bumper. In the 32 years since I took over the company. Not one truck Red Tagged at an Inspection Station.
Should be able to tell by any slop in your steering, death wobble at certain speeds, clunking when you turn, abnormal tire wear on the outside or inside of the tread. Good point though I didn't think they were that critical.
That's a Penske truck. Our PM is extremely thorough
How can a solo driver check for that?
We don’t get to get under our trucks like that. They should have to inspect like we do
okay let me ask you as a driver, what do you mean no rust on the bolts underneath the truck ? Od course there will be a lot of rust everywhere especially those parts are exposed to a snow, salt, water…
Are we supposed to have state patrol inspect our truck once per year?!?!
Not a deep pit. Makes it extra tight with his big belly.
If those nuts were not tighten most of the time the human hand alone can't move them
👍 good job
What happens if there is something out of line .. something broken ? Something missing? Bent or just wrong??
Could constitute a violation or even a possible out of service condition.
VERRY GOOD VID
Where is the kingpin?
The kingpin is under the frontnof the trailer. It’s what gets locked onto the 5th wheel (plate at backnof tractor). Google a pic of it
That’s a Penske truck it better not fail
? Are fhp ASE certified
I didnt know all cops were mechanics. Cherry on top
They are trained to check for safely issues on the trucks genius
You would need a torque wrench to do this , otherwise it's bullshit
You can tell it's a truck by the way it is
You have to rock the tierod bar to see if it has slack. Wow 😳 ignorant. the truck should be jacked off the ground to check properly. They really are on a witch hunt
That’s one truck stop 🛑 I don’t Ever Want to visit
Let me say this from experience drivers. You can take your truck in a shop every day at your terminal or a regular shop and the shop gives you a receipt or paperwork what the shop did to your truck. If the DOT inspect your truck right after you come out the truck shop and find the same thing that you have taken your truck or trailer to the shop for, they don't care about a receipt drivers. The DOT will write you up again and again for the same thing and will give you a ticket if you start raising heck about it. Today it's the cat trying to catch the mouse. Now I've seen trucks go through the dang scale and the brake drum break off or the brakechamber hanging half off and never get stopped but a newer truck will get pulled all the time why?? Because the newer trucks and trailers come off the assembly line with more problems. I didn't believe this until I seen it for myself, so yes double check your units if you're a o/o or not bc either way it's the same tickets and write up. Stay safe drivers and always God bless everyone and your family. Mailman
I wish the dot inspect roads, oh my god ya all seen I70 indiana I40 Arizona is like driving hell, you get relieved as soo you leave those state not even third world 😂
Gloves and eyes! loose the 40.
How in the fuck do you expect drivers to go underneath their trucks and do a full inspection for free. Ohhhh that's right..... Its for safety...... I would rather work in McDonald's and get paid for every minute I work then be a charity for a mega carrier.
That’s part of the job no one said trucking was easy most of you turds don’t belong out in trucks in the first place the whole trucking industry has gone to pot since deregulation, unified carrier, freight brokerages, and so called truck driving schools. Oh and the invention of automatic trucks why because if you can’t shift the damn thing in the first place you do NOT have any business in one !!!! Go drive a cab or an Uber car you probably wear dirty sweat pants flip flops grease dirt stained tee shirts drive with your flats ass foot on the dashboard play with your selves driving down the road and have never heard of soap and water!!!!!
nice safety shoes the driver has! :[
I smell bs
He said joint!!! 🚬
It would be nice to see how many people gave this video a thumbs down.
