  • On January 27th, 2024, Connie 361 took off from Stewart for the last time. This brought 5 years of exciting, eventful, and routine service to an end. Since 2019 Kalitta has connected a US Mail contract between Los Angeles and the Hudson Valley of New York, with that meant scheduled Boeing 747 service into SWF. I’m sure we will see a Connie bird again, whether it be charters or the occasional diversion, but I’m glad to have worked the Queen. N743CK, a 30 year old 747-400(BCF), operated the final rotation from LAX. The whine of the four General Electric CF6 engines sounded beautiful as she roared down runway 27, climbing into the overcast layer and slowly disappearing. I’ll miss seeing a 747 everyday at work, but I’m beyond grateful to have been able to work one of my favorite aircraft.

I will miss watching Kalitta Cargo jets flying low and slow over our farm in upstate NY. Direct from LAX to SWF 5 days a week around 1300. I haven't seen "Connie" lately. Now I know why. 😥

This is so sad. I used to watch this plane fly in and out every once in a while. Fun fact: I asked my parents on this exact date to see it depart and I couldn’t make it. Little did I know it was the last departure 😔 wish I could have saw this. Won’t forget the queen of the skies

It is sad indeed, the airport lacks a certain type of energy lately. So odd not seeing a 747 every week, but then again I’m glad I’ve made some memories with the Queen. Also happy I can share some of those memories with fellow aviation enthusiasts alike. Thanks for the comment and stopping by the channel!

Any idea why Kalitta Air is no longer flying into SWF? Great video. Will miss seeing these coming in on approach.

The US Postal Service didn’t want to renew the contract unfortunately.

@@UNITED38Heavy I work as a letter carrier up in Catskill our Postmaster General wants to shift all our transportation to a " Greener" model..put more trucks on the road ( oxymoronic ) for greenhouse gas reduction instead of air transport . Sad to see the 747 leave SWF but hey we got Breeze ( for now)
