America has one Vietnam memorial with 58,000 names of Americans lost in eight years. It would take six of those to contain the names of Russian lives wasted by Putin in less than three years.
I remember seeing a video from a Russian town, at the beginning of 2024, where a memorial column was full of names, with people crying on it. And it was a single town. Just imagine the scale across Russia... we do imagine it and we have no idea how can they go on with this suicide mission that is this war. Russians act like zombies, soldiers and ordinary Russians. Not that they have much power to protest, since police and FSB are ready to crush people down, but if Russian people do nothing, they will suffer an enormous collapse in their country. I can tell you for a fact, because I have friends there, the just don't want to know what happens for real. They do not want to understand their country is facing a real economic crisis. They think they are right, they only know the truth. They are like a wall... but walls can break down and their wall will fall down.
@delpinsky it seems that the younger Russians tend to understand, which is why 1,000,000 of the best and brightest left the country and, in a few cases, are fighting for Ukraine.
@sebbonxxsebbon6824 and now they have troops attacking on crutches. Did you see the video of that Russian officer beating and shocking his own wounded soldiers?
Actually there is useful defensive geography as many times layed out in this channel. Equally the woods and hills surroudning the settlements in the Kursk region were used to lure russians into traps or have elevated firing positions. Also due to it being such a narrow spot, Ukrainian forces more easily are able to reinforce each other.
Not really. They burned through most of their best in the first few months of the war, sending them in without support as though they expected their mere presence to make Ukrainians surrender. By the time Ukraine moved in to Kursk, Russia was already low on armor and rushing troop training. Add that to Russia's badly outdated logistics and officers promoted for obedience rather than skill and you have an army that would be in real trouble even if political concerns weren't making them rush operations on Kursk.
