  • Testing the newly installed FPV system on my HobbyZone Apprentice S 2 RC airplane. Airplane components are all stock except for an upgraded higher capacity Spektrum 2200mAh battery. Further upgrades such as long range system, flight controller, and video OSD are planned for this experimental aircraft. Once a reliable system is established, I will be implementing the systems into much faster and more capable aircraft.
Details and links on the aircraft and FPV system are as follows:

from flying old pc based simulators (not rc simulators) I know how difficult what you are doing is. I could not line up until I could quickly change the view to 45 degrees on base leg then forward after turning final. I’m presently learning rc with PicaSim free download and thrift store find controller. I have a not yet flown Apprentice. Thanks for sharing your FPV experience .

Thanks for the awesome vid! I recently got the Apprentice S myself and now looking to do exactly what you did with an FPV kit. I know nothing about FPV, hoping you can describe how you powered the camera transmitter, and paired it to the camera. Thanks!

The camera transmitter is an ImmersionRC VTX and supports a wide range if input voltage (6V-25V to be exact). It has a built in regulated 5 volt camera supply output to power the camera. During the time that I recorded this video, I had the VTX connected directly to the flight battery pack. My setup has changed substantially since then and I now have the VTX and camera connected to regulated power supply outputs on my flight controller, as well as the camera video feed passing through the flight controller prior to entering the VTX for on screen
      display of various telemetry data.

@@jonathanjovenal Do a video on that! I'm following the same steps with a as you did (using a Runcam Phoenix 2 and a RUSH TANK Ultimate VTX ).. Cheers!

I never have problems with rdq's mach 3 vtx and switchable 1 watt power.
