Welcome to Perth! Every bus you see in the CBD is FREE within the free transit zone, which is from the causeway where your hotel is, to Kings Park.
Go out the door of your hotel onto Adelaide Tce, cross the road and there are bus stops directly opposite. Hop on a bus and hop off near Barrack or William St. Takes 5min. Same coming back, hop on any bus on the city side heading East, ring the bell at plain St or ask the driver to drop you at Fraser Suites. Really easy.
You'll get used to the heat, it happens every summer, but it is not always 45deg C (120F) in summer.
Chill out, relax. Best place in the world to live. You'll love it here and will appreciate the 'laid back' lifestyle.

We were in your position in Oct 2005, a little over 19 years ago. My girls were 7 and 2 at the time. It is really tough arriving in a heat wave, my heart goes out to you! Expect a roller-coaster of emotions, and that's ok. But stick with it. It truly is the best place on earth to live and bring up kids. Just take it one day at a time! I'm in Perth, if you get stuck with anything let me know on a reply.

From where you are, look for the CAT buses. They are free and do laps of the city so you wouldn’t have to walk into town. They go up Hay St which is next to the park out your window.
    And they have AC 🙂.
    Make sure you sunscreen ears.
The best way to public transport to the beach would be train to North Fremantle, then it’s a short walk. There’s places to eat there as well.

Its a good idea to keep a 30 or 40 pack of those zooper dooper type icy poles in the freezer at all times , even in tassie when the grandkids visit a couple of times a year they go straight for the freezer to get one before they even stop to say hello 😂

Welcome to Australia! Just found your channel,as an Australian it's really interesting to see your experience of moving here. I have often thought about doing the reverse of you and moving to the UK! The heat here is alot, even for us Aussies who have always had it. Try and get alot done early morning or later in the day 🙂

Welcome to Perth! Make sure you take advantage of the free WA museums this summer (until end March I believe). Boolar Bardip (the main one) is not far from you in town and kids will enjoy it too. And its air conditioned. Two Freo ones are accessible from the Freo train station (and you can go to Bathers Beach at the same time). Lots to see and do :) x

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇬🇧 to 🇦🇺..A Big welcome to your new home in this Amazing state of WA!
Use the FREE Cat buses guys 👍
& If you go out & are boiling hot when you get home...jump into a nice COLD shower to get that body temp down 👍 ..as a kid we didn't have AC at all, now I'm 60 & renting again, I dont have AC again so that's my tip for when your AC isnt cooling you quick enough 🥵 ..it does the job for me now 🚿😄
.,oh! having your video in 'flipped/mirrored mode' is really disorientating 🫨😵‍💫 ...we are downunder here but not back to front 😉😁
Ps on a cooler day, go down to the river to Barrack St jetty(where the Bell Tower is and where Rottnest Ferries are) & catch the river ferry across to South Perth, then it's only a 5min walk to Perth Zoo 🦘
    Stay cool 😎🥶✌️

Same as many people below welcome to Perth! It can be a bit hard to start with, especially with the young ones and when you first arrive as you are jet lagged and don't have all your belongings around you. Me and my family arrived from the UK in 2013 and I wouldn't go back now. It took me a while to settle but it's truly a great place to live. Food is a bit more expensive and there is less choice but that's one of the differences you get used to. Some fresh food is much more seasonal here compared with the UK. I found in some ways it's better as we just learned to cook meals from the base ingredients instead - which is probably better. One day at a time and stick with it and then one day soon it will all fall into place.

The ham you bought there… they usually go on sale at Coles or Woolies for about $2.50 a packet. I won’t buy it until it’s on sale. You’ll get used to what to buy and when to buy it to get decent prices, but it will take a bit of time to adjust. Don’t worry. ❤

Woolworths and Coles have weekly Specials Catalogues, getting shaved ham or polony etc is good to get from the Deli section as its sold by weight and kilo prices. Another good place for Fruit and Veg is a Spudshed, and they use Uber for delivery..

Welcome to Australia! Summer temperatures can be brutal but spring and autumn will be much more enjoyable. Summer tips: Stay indoors with air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day. Young kids can get heat stroke more easily than adults so I wouldn’t recommend taking the wee ones outside during the hottest parts of the day. Get up early and do things in the morning when it is still cooler. Do walks outdoors in the late evening once the sun has started going down. It’s best to just find indoor activities in the afternoons during the peak of summer - everywhere will be air conditioned.

Well you're here so welcome. Jet lag is going to knock you about a bit, but you'll acclimatise in no time. Sunscreen should be SPS 50 rated, don't get the fancy coconut oils as they do nothing. The kids will probably get used the heat faster than you but make sure they drink plenty of water as they can dehydrate quite quickly. I guess you have your car by now so you can get around and see the place before the real fun starts.

Tips for hot Australian summers: never leave home without a water bottle, wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen applied, and if it’s sunny wear light coloured clothing. And remember that you can still burn on an overcast day. Stay out of the sun as much as possible and take advantage of shade, the pool, and air conditioned spaces.
When I’m feeling too hot to cope, I think back to my Scottish and English ancestors who arrived here from 1830s to 1880s. I imagine the women wearing heavy black long-sleeved dresses, no aircon in their homes, having to cook meals over a fire, no cars, etc etc and the men doing hard manual labour in the heat. As a society we really have become soft.

Keep those woolies paper bags. Im not sure if you know we dont use disposable plastic bags in supermarkets, so you have to take your own. Canvas are best but those paper bags will do for now.
Absolute priority is a car. In this state you cant do anything without one. If youre used to it and know how to deal with this heat you can walk around, but if youre not used to this heat (and its very different to the eastern states heat, because it will literally sear your skin and you can feel it), you cant really go anywhere. Go over to Victoria park car yards. Its probably the best spot for cars in Perth (Im not from that area - or those car yards by the way!).
Dont shop in the CBD. The shops arent very good there.
ps full brim hats are better. I know people feel "cooler" in baseball style caps, but if you wear baseball caps, even if you dont get skin cancer, in 50 years or so you'll start getting skin bumps that feel like scabs (but arent) all over the skin that has been exposed to the sun.

Hi, Welcome to Australia!!! we need more families like yours !!!! thanks for the nice video and I hope that everything works out for you, in this country its a car based transport system and you really need a car in Australia to take advantage of the place, its been that way since the 1950's and now public transport is really not efficient. The best beaches in Perth are Rockingham beach for little children, and Hillarys boat harbour because those places have calm water no waves. The best doctor in perth is North beach medical clinic, Dr David Storer, the best super market is Farmers Market at Como, the best place to walk is Fremantle markets, the best museum is the Shipwreck museum in Fremantle, and also the Maritime museum, two different museums free within a short walk. Maritime museum is air conditioned. best long walk is in the Botanic gardens but is a bloody long walk, best cafe chain is DOME, they're everywhere and they're generally pretty good and not too expensive, best two adult meal is in the Casino smorgasbord restaurant it cost 80 dollars each so don't take little kids but its very good. best swimming is a day pass in the casino hotel pools but it aint cheap but you can spend a day and take your own food. This country is the best place for your kids to be in the world in my opinion. best dentistry is in Cambodia flight for 400 bucks, best holiday Thailand same price flights from perth, get yourself a medicare card for your family as soon as possible. Don't eat the food or drink the water and you will be fine, thanks for the nice video of your nice family. take serious heed of the sun, hats, sunscreen and long sleeves, because the sun is serious and sunburn is the same as being burnt in a fire, it really hurts. Kids need a swimming class immediately if they're going to live in Australia, don't forget that in that river near you there are sharks that can bit your legs right off, so don't swim in dark water in a river ever in Australia, shallow water beaches are safer. every kid gets sick here for a short illness, its a virus they're not used to, it passes, keep them cool, they'll be okay, stay inside on days, its sounds trite but its not, shopping mall at Karinyup is very good.
