Yep, when it's my first time ever touch a clarinet.. i couldn't blow any sound, now have been 5years on playing i could simply play any sound.. and i hope to improve better in the future. Wishing you the best!
I was not playing past a Bb without problems until about two and a half years in- I’m just really bad, but hey! 6 years in and im still crying over pieces and then playing them amazing at the concert👍
i’ve played the clarinet for 3 years and i’m in 8th grade, i think the music my band teacher is giving us now is a little too easy lol but i think i have improved a lot :)
From the perspective of someone who’s a few years older, but still in high school. When the technical aspects of the piece is easier, it’s usually more challenging musically. Phrasing, dynamics, articulations, and trying to match with the rest of the band. Always thing of how you want it to sound. Make even scale studies sound musical, phrase them as if you’re singing it.
@@Zoey5374 yes, but in general pieces you play in the band often are easier for clarinet too,as we barely have the melody? playing in band is really fun and teaches about playing with others, but its important to take lessons/practice outside of that aswell
I had a talent to play clarinet. The first day I played it I asked my band teacher for the notes and I learned all the songs we were learning that day. (I used to play flute had struggles though). But now it’s been almost 2 years and I’m so happy :)
I'm a flute player too, and now thinking of learning for clarinet. Btw, I started to learn flute in 2001. So how you've been doing with your clarinet and your flute also.
This is amazing! I'm currently on my 5years as a clarinet player in highschool, I'll try to continue after school to reach my level 20 as how you achieve one day! ❤️
HAHAHA I really count my years experience on clarinet. And yes, really feel the struggle HAHA I'm a percussionist but I love clarinet seriously. I PLAY almost 5 years and will be counting CHEERS!
Been playing clarinet for five years now, I remember in elementary coming home with my school rental and then trying to play other notes on my first day, I wasn't even in the door and I was showing my parents what I learned lol
I just joined band this year and I love it it’s amazing I play the clarinet I really love it and Next month I’m haveing my first consert I’m excited and clarinet is truly amazing I love the beautiful sounds it makes😃🤩🫶🏽
im at 1 year and ive been playing for like 3 or 2 weeks!!! i started over christmas break and havent touched it since so 🤧.. i guess it helps that ive played saxophone before
We’re playing the “Game of Thrones” theme in my class, about half a year into 7th grade, our first year, most kids can go well above the break to G at the most usually(thumb®ister key, 1, 2, 3)
A YEAR dang bro I still sucked at a year lol it took me like three years to get that good haha and I still suck at the dynamics sometimes (at least in sight reading)
during my first year of band i was already at 20 years since my band directors had such faith in me and pushed me so hard. Few years later and even though it was stressful and i worked so hard i don't regret it
Currently less than a year playing(Gr.7 band and jazz band for my school, planning on joining jr all city next year) and apparently I have rlly good tone according to my sisters friend who played clarinet for many school bands. So I rlly hope I can make it to at least a 10yr mark for my playing!!
I've played for 4 years (started in 5th grade and now a freshman), and I would say I'm close to the 10 year mark, but still in the middle of 1 year to 10 years.
I started Bass Clarinet the start of this year and by my 3 months in I was in the high school Band( I was in grade 5 whan started) and able to do 3 octaves bye then.
I am almost on my fourth year of playing and I hope I can live up to that, I am also a clarinet right now I’m working on Raiders March it’s really fun and yeah I just wanted to share that, also, I am trying out for advancement
I’m beyond double the 20 and it’s always a challenge learning new music and also transcribing it now for my Eb & A clarinets too, along with the pieces sonatas etc that are specifically written for one of those instruments …. Bolero on the Eb and the sonata by Franck are two of my faves although the Brahms and Mendelssohn works are beautiful and some are a real hard slog. This is not just due to the speed, techniques and stamina needed but the ability to keep that Eb squeaker in time as it’s a lot more volatile than the standard Bb or A. That includes the chalumeau and clarion registers too, across the break is actually the only bit that’s not as difficult as the rest ?! Go figure !? Keep up the great work & I think you possibly started about the same age as me, I was 9…???
i'm somewhere between 2 years and 2.5 years even tho i started like, 6 months ago idk how, but i'm in a group that's in concert band but representing with symphonic
Talk about being a natural first time I played clarinet back in 7th grade first day the only thing I could do was squeak. Tbh back then I was happy just to make a sound. Fast forward to today and I can say I can play without squeaky 98% of the time.
Dang. I’m at 2 years and I just finished learning the high notes. I think it’s just book 1 though (I use Loser’s Music’s books) because book 1 for the clarinets is really hard but book 2 is easy
One day of playing clarinet, oh, this doesn’t hurt that bad, One month of playing clarinet oh, it’s getting a little harsh but not bad at all when you’re playing clarinet, I literally can barely keep my mouth on the mouthpiece after two songs, 10 years of playing clarinet, I ripped all my facial muscles to the point where I can’t even feel it in my mouth goes numb. Every time I play., 20 years of playing clarinet I don’t even have facial muscles. I can’t feel anything and I just feel like I’m breathing in to the air.
Personally for me, when I was playing my instrument already for 1 month I could not go over the break, had no idea what that was I was still figuring out my first 5 notes. It took me one year and Almost a half to get over the break😭🤌🥲
Started at 37. Everyday is exciting! Looking forward to 20 years at 57!
SHEESH
I’m 39, getting ready to restart mine. This got me hyped it’s inspiring to see what we can do in time and with patience.
I started last year when I was 12- I’m 13 almost 14 now
Oh gosh when i turn 57 I'd have been playing for like 46 years (if i play that long)
@@terrancekayton007 still going strong here at 2 years
In my first day of clarinet, I couldn’t even make a sound! We all start somewhere I guess...

On my first day I bought a plastic reed with a strength of 1 to make a sound.
How is it now?
The crossing the break was so accurate at 1 year! 🤣
Very cool! I am at the "10 years" level currently, I hope to reach the level 20 super HARD!
I'm only at year two 😅
same
@@getdirtyonthedancefloor e talvez esse ano eu já esteja a um nível acima (I know you speak portuguese too)
im at like the 4 or 5 month period
the mouthpiece and crossing the break was so accurate 💀

I started clarinet as a sax player. Had to play the Mozart concerto in 1 year form when I started. Got 7th in the state in my all state band!
I liked the clarinet 😍
i must admit, as one and a half years of playing clarinet, i can do wayyyy more then that

Teşekkürler Selin!!❤❤ Selamlar Austin'de! 🎉
People don’t realize how much effort it takes to play an instrument. Like- you play for a whole year and that’s all the progress you make 😂😭
OMG I TOTALLY FORGOT! WHEN I FIRST STARTED I JUST USED THE BARREL AND MOUTHPIECE

It really depends how much you practice and how you are challenged. Because if you are doing at school three years would only be 1.
“10 years”

I've been playing the clarinet for 3 years and can play all of that
I've been playing since I was in 6th grade, and I'm now a high school senior. I hope to continue in college and beyond!
What was really cool for me was I was at the one month mark on the first day. At the time I had no idea how to play and just did it.
