Crazy, this is exactly how I see it in my memories. I can feel the wind on my face because we didn’t have AC in the truck, the colors, the grainy look. Man, those were some good times we all took for granted.
I was going on 9 at this time. I remember Dallas looking like this as my mom would take my bro and I over this freeway many times. Nice candid throwback!
Man than you for the nostalgia. Loved growing up there. From going to Dallas Ally on the weekends to eat with my parents at planet Hollywood to sneaking off to the lizard lounge and all the other places there and between deep Ellum when I got older. Dallas will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️
I visited my sister in Dallas in 1992, seemed nice. I went back in 2002 and the population of the Dallas/ Fort Worth area had just about doubled in 10 years. So overcrowded.
I was 24 back then! Dang you can actually see the downtown sky line from a mile or so away! Can't anymore with so much built up now with the Uptown area.
it's kind of weird and cool at the same time to see the victory park area back when it was just a power plant/railyard with the slightly unchanged main skyline. I wasn't born in dallas, but i lived around the dallas area in my childhood, while most victory park was still in production. the american airlines center was already built at the time.
Back in the late '70's I worked for Dallas Power and Light Co., and did a number of projects at that power plant. It was the first for Dallas, originally serving the streetcar system. Over the years it was one of several plants built around Dallas that provided power. I had hoped the plant would have been saved and turned into some kind of museum/entertainment, as it had all kinds of cool "old stuff." Memories.
I was in Dallas from 1991 to 2002...those were some good times. I went back to visit in 2012 and I couldn't believe how much more the area had expanded. I enjoyed it back before 2001, but don't think I could live there now. I hope you're enjoying your current city.
Always neat to see old vids of the city. Interesting specific shots of those buildings and landmarks, makes me wonder if they were scouting for something at the time.

0:59 speed limit 60, there was a night: 55 truck speed limit in Texas until fall 1999, although unposted in this video, however, Fort Worth did use a Truck Night 55 sign below a speed limit 60 sign through the late 90s, smaller versions of those signs were placed on farm to market roads until September 2011. Those signs were rare, only spotted throughout Tarrant, Parker, and Palo Pinto County according to my knowledge.
this was before the American Airlines Center , Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and Klyde Warren Park was there in fact there was a power plant in that same area before they converted into American Airlines Center
Both rounds of population influx really did almost entirely negative things to the metroplex. I’m ready to see all the Tesla drivers go back home (IYKYK)! As for the Katrinans, I wish they would’ve stepped up their game rather than bring their Cajun crime here.

The American Airlines Center in Dallas officially opened on July 17, 2001.
Lived in dallas from 2005 to 2023. The only thing i really miss is white rock lake and the parks.
I lived in Dallas, 75 & Walnut Hill from 1998-2005 working for American Airlines. I loved living there and would like to go back someday.

Dallas is an overpopulated dump these days. You are probably better off anywhere else.
Lakeside at Walnut hill apartments. Do. U remember that

It felt strange when you were on Woodall Rodgers driving under what would become Klyde Warren Park like 15 years later.
Nice to see some footage of my hometown filmed in the year of my birth.

I was living in Plano at the time this was filmed. Man, that was 25 years ago. Where did the time go?
Back when Dallas was more calm... all these People from out of state need to go back... ugh
Cough on them lmao. That'll send them running.

2:48 I drive up and down this freeway almost everyday and frm 1988 until now it literally looks the same from what I see 💯
I yearn for this time period. It looks so peaceful.
This makes me wish I had made home movies when I was a kid.
Thanks for doing this, I think it was an amazing Idea to film for historical significance.
Traffic was completely different I see back then lmao 🤣 traffic in Dallas is hell now. The city looks more simple back then too.

Looks like they're in a taxi so probably came from the airport and went through Irving/Las Colinas to get to Dallas.
Wow I was 5 years old life was good
Back when it was easier to drive and not get anxiety from the traffic
Amazing how much the skyline has changed in the past decade and a half after being basically frozen in time from the mid-80's oil bust to 2010.
Nice video… Dallas still looks the same..
Looks like 114 was the first highway out of the airport. Las Colinas looks so bare!
