On the topic of the Texas snow storm that killed our electricity, there was a Ford dealership in my area (west Texas) that were lending out these new F-150's to people so they could power their homes.... real nice people
@jess h that "storm" killed people mf. Do you think that the people or infrastructure of Tijuana and Juárez are prepared for a week long freeze, or have made enough investments in snow ploughs to keep up with several days of consecutive snow? San Antonio is over 100 miles south of each of them, roughly the same latitude as Hermosillo and Kuwait. Austin is the same latitude as Jacksonville and Cairo. All these cities aren't exactly known for their snow storms.
@jess h I get that it may have been a seasonal occurrence in many parts of the country that are prepared for that kind of thing, but to us it looks like mockery or victim blaming. It's like people dont understand that San Antonio is 350 miles south of Los Angeles and that expecting them to be prepared for even a little freeze is like expecting New York to be prepared for something we experience every summer like 100 days of 100 degree heat.
@@saltyfloridaman7163 I totally agree!! I'm from south Florida but don't tell that to any of the one million Venezuelans in Weston I think 95% of them drive BMW POS's!!!!!
Randy Jones used his Powerboost F-150’s onboard generator to power his 75” TV and coffee pot during the Texas blackouts while others froze or were hit with $15,000 electric bills. All it cost him was a few gallons of unleaded. What a boss 😎👍👍
15000$ electric bill probably going to need more than 1000 gallon. Also, generation that much of energy will reduce the engine live massively. It like driving 40k kilometers.
@@1ossksa the $15,000 bills weren't from excessive use. They were from rates that skyrocketed to 100 times their normal level since they had no cap. Of course he didn't use as much electricity as he normally would have, but he was still able to power a heater, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and TV so he was able to stay fairly comfortable. Others had no choice. I'd say he's the clear winner here. Also TFL NOW in their BMW I3 charging review showed that even at max generating level (7KW) the F-150 Powerboost engine speed remained at 1.000 rpm for the duration of their test. That's hardly stressing the engine.

Many people have reported on their 2021 Ford F150s they are already getting rusty. You can look it up. It was covered on motor trend and car and driver I believe
The body panels are made from aluminum but axles, differentials, and other components underneath are still metal. Go to a ford lot and look underneath any 2021 F150 the diff and driveshaft will probably be completely rusted already.
Your videos just keep getting better! I would 100% buy this if I needed a new truck today, we live in a rural area on several acres and the generator would be amazingly useful for doing work around the property (we have a 7kw honda generator as a backup for the house already but I guess I could sell that and make up a good chunk of the trucks cost).
I totally understand Thomas's take on not needing trucks every day, but understanding once you live with one. Thomas, at James: 'You know when you pick up something heavy, like a fork or a bottle of water'..
Still laughing.
im impressed how smooth the gauge cluster is
One of the funniest “car” reviews I’ve ever seen! I died when James said “you know why it’s not going anywhere... it’s because it’s a bmw and they don’t go anywhere” 😂
Love it when Thomas says "it needs to" have the word boost everywhere
It looks fantastic in that color and trim. No fake plastic chrome anywhere.
You guys are the best UA-camrs for automotive reviews period, hands-down, no contest. I'd buy a Yugo after......... nevermind
“it’s a BMW. they’re not going anywhere anyway”
LOL
Just picked my Lariat Powerboost with the 7.2kw up on 3/27/21. Absolutely love it. Went to where I store my travel trailer and powered the AC and microwave with not problem. If needed we can even charge my wife’s Tesla once I find the right plug adapter.
Since the F-150 body has been made from aluminium since 2015, I wouldn't be worrying about rust...
@@zaidkidwai7831 underbody steel parts not the body its aluminum. I would think they know that as car reviewers but hey mistakes happen ig
2:45 Best moment ever😂
I totally understand Thomas's take on not needing trucks every day, but understanding once you live with one. I was never a truck guy but I live up north and wanted to get something nicer for the winters. Picked up a base Ram 1500 6 cylinder last september because trucks had massive discounts. Super cheap. And I actually kinda love it now...
I wonder who keeps giving these videos a thumbs down
this could easily be a tv show...always great videos
Hyped on the TFL mention, them are some good guys
I like seeing Thomas's car in it's natural habitat
"Just pretend it's on fire! It looks like it should be!" lol
That on-board generator. I'll give em that. Definitely useful af
Gotta luve them intros, Ehh? (Canadian Accent)
This is the exact model I was hoping you would review. Well done.
15:00 ORRRRRRRRR they could just do a classic column shifter like all of us truck guys actually want. Love the videos!
they have one
I don’t want that lol
Oooorrrr...a manual transmission...
What I was thinking! You can Stuff your dials in a sack!!!!
Wish you could get the column shift on higher trims with bucket seats, with a more open center console, like you get in the super duty line.
@@josephs8364 you're not a truck guy
