Healthcare 2030: Envisioning the Next Decade (30 IESE Healthcare)

The 30 IESE Healthcare Meeting focused on the transformative impact of digital health on patient care, emphasizing the digitization of patient information for improved clinical care. It also discussed the role of robotics in automating drug discovery and development processes, significantly changing our approach to developing personalized medicines and how surgeries can now be conducted from a distance.
Yulung Wang, Yulun Wang, Ph.D. Fellow, Teladoc Health, Co-Founder & Chairman Sovato Health, and Co-Founder & Chairman World Telehealth Initiative, said that “what digital health is doing, it's digitizing all the information we have about a patient. It's allowing that clinician to take care of that patient in terms of right place, right time, right care. This is what it's able to do.”
Christopher Langmead, Executive Director of Digital Biologics Discovery, Amgen, added that “robots that can perform the vast majority of experiments that are necessary to make and test molecules.” and Juan Yermo, Director General, Farmaindustria, confirmed that Our ability to develop drugs right now has completely changed”, with “More than half of the eight thousand drugs in development already have the potential to become personalized medicines.”
Iñaki Moreno, Managing Partner Life Sciences and Healthcare at Deloitte Spain remembered the audience that “we’ve always had technology. Using it to process data, that we have not.” “And that's why expectations are so high”, he added.
Alfonso Valencia, ICREA professor and Director of the Life Sciences Department of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, confirmed that Artificial Intelligence is at the frontier where it may be able to solve the fundamental problems of biology.
Núria Mas, professor at IESE and Academic Director of the Meeting, finished her presentation with a clear message: “This is here. This is happening. This is very big and this is very fast.”
