Sorry for the editing error on book #1. The text should say "Coyote 14" instead of "Infinity Inc. 14." Oh, and I just posted a new poll.. please go give me your opinion so I know which videos to focus the most on!
Doing great, how have you been? Thanks for the feedback, I am in the planning stages of a ton of videos and articles for the website as well. This is gonna be a busy year!
They do grade the pages inside the book too, jeepers. When I watch these types of videos they make it seem to the viewers that dont really know. THEY GRADE THE WHOLE BOOK, NOT JUST THE COVER!!!
Now that's a knife. (My Mick Dundee impersonation) Glad to see you back with another video. It's your channel, so we'll let ya take a break every now and then. LOL. Congrats on the grade bumps and overall grades. That's crazy about the Wolverine 1. I have heard of people cracking and resubmitting for a grade drop. Doesn't make sense. Keep 'em coming though. You're my top comic channel here on UA-cam. I've probably got a top 5. Can't wait to see what happens if you do send that Wolvierine back in again. Third times a charm right?
Wolverine 3: The Return to CGC. It's gotta go back! I've got my copy of Strange Academy #1 in the mail. I bought the J Scott Campbell variant, but I'd like to get the one you got too. And Web of Spiderman is on my hit list as well. Such an awesome cover. Congrats on your 9.8's!
I was very surprised at the end. I was not expecting a decrease in grade. Looking forward to the resubmission. That reversion is a pain in the butt. Still an awesome video. 👌 keep up the great work.
1 tic on a dark/black is enough to keep from 9.8. I know I have books with several tiny tics that get 9.8 too. I think it is something about the black/dark cover makes to stand out and less likely to get a 9.8 from CGC.
congrats on the 9.8's you did get! FYI...take lots of pictures before you send in a book to CGC. I sent in a 9+ grade raw ASM 300 for Todd to sign and it came back 5.0. CGC switched the book and continued to blame Todd for the damage.
Coyote 11 March 1985(1st official art in a comic) Infinity Inc 13 April 1985(1st DC art interior) Infinity Inc 14 May 1985(1st cover art) Coyote 13 June 1985(1st solo cover art small panel, 1st Marvel cover art). Coyote 12 May 1985(Todd McFarlane's first chronological artwork. Coyote #11 was published first and had a story that was redrawn by Todd McFarlane, but only after he had finished work on Coyote #12)
I wouldn't resubmit that book. I saw what I thought to be waviness and a spine ding on the bottom of the spine just from watching the video. I know you want to get that 9.8 (I love your determination). That book might not be worth it. Love your video as always.
I am going to press it and leave it in to try and stop the reversion from happening. I may just keep it raw, may resubmit.. not sure yet. Thanks for the kind workds!
Bummer for sure but when you held that Wolvie slab up we could see right away the waviness middle spine region. Since I dont press etc, how long do you wait to see if issues show up b4 submitting?
I usually leave a book in the cold press for at least 3 days (usually a week) and then wait a couple weeks before submitting. This one may have sat in the heat in Florida for awhile in a wavy state before I pressed it.. that's my only guess. The presser I used is in Florida and he messed up several books like this
Good vid! I have 13 raw wolverines 1’s that I’ve been buying every time i see it! Great book. Affordable too! I haven’t submitted any of them yet tho. I have to get a little better at pressing first. Sam from Canada 🇨🇦
I’ve sent about 50 or so books to the same presser. Overall I was pretty disappointed. Had two books come back with canvassing that won’t press out. One was a 9.8 candidate Wolverine 1 Frank Miller. The other is a Batman 251 Neal Adams. Total bummer as the wolverine was almost a guaranteed 9.8 and now it’s not really worth grading. I found that most of the books had pressable defects when I got them back from cgc and even a batch that I had sent back to me that I didn’t have graded as I was keeping them raw for future signings. Haven’t used them since.
Oh man.. that's horrible. Sorry to hear about that. I was able to get canvassing out of a Hulk 345 and got a 9.8... so maybe all hope isn't lost. Here is the video I unboxed it: ua-cam.com/video/1mzE4I1FFPY/v-deo.html
@@ImproveCollectingComics I bought 2 of these books and failed to check that back cover. BOTH had finger prints or color rub. Over time, you learn what to look out for. Spawn 9 is another one with a black rear cover that I have been burned on.
Even Perry Mason lost that one case that time! I have no doubt you'll at least get the 9.6 if I was a betting man I'd put $$$ on the 9.8! Although I've heard from many that cgc has been getting stricter with their grading but no first hand knowledge? Anyway good luck!
Your concept is good but I wish you would pick different books. The Wolverine you picked is $450 as a 9.8 and $400 as a 9.6 or 9.4 so it makes little sense to keep cracking it and paying the fees. If you choose some great silver age books that could benefit tremendously with grade bumps it would make a lot more sense.
You are right, my emotions get in the way sometimes. That Wolverine is a childhood book and it isn't as much about the money as getting it in the right slab. It's definitely a borderline 9.6/9.8, I have 9.8's that are not nearly as nice
Yes, this one is a bit challenging. I only wish I knew what kind of hell the presser put it through to "permanize" these waves. I plan to leave it in the press over a week to see if I can make it behave
A down grade? You mean you're human like the rest of us. Lol. Great results regardless. I've been disappointed a few times. You get used to it. It's usually the books that have damage on them that wasn't there in the original submission that irk me.
Believe it or not, I do.. with my eyes closed. It was a bit challenging at first, but it's not hard once you exactly what the top left of the slab feels like.
@Improve-Collecting Comics haha I do believe you! I'd love to see a bloopers outro on one od your videos of you applying the stars! I have my 1st submission on my own account at CGC currently for Todd McFarlane. I don't think I can wait to see what grade I got! How do you avoid it?
Just be aware that CGC hired a bunch of new graders so you have to put that into account for future submissions. Btw how have you've been Jim? Hit me up sometime
ive seen many youtubers with color breaking spine ticks(multiple) that get 9.8s...even the youtubers are surprised....if i submit a book with 1 color breaking spine tick i assume its maxed at 9.6 if everything else is perfect... and they have never given me a 9.8 with a cbst...so if you go to sell a CGC 9.8 for FMV and the buyer sees 2 color breaking spine ticks wouldnt they assume that it isnt the comic that was originally in the case or at the very least they would look for a better looking 9.8...just cause it says 9.8 and it clearly isnt a 9.8 would cause concern for a buyer i would suspect...but i dont sell so what do i know

Glad you mentioned the one book pressing company. Always good to know.
Sure hope all is well. I love your videos and especially enjoy your unboxing videos, as well as seeing how you clean and press them.
Doing great, how have you been? Thanks for the feedback, I am in the planning stages of a ton of videos and articles for the website as well. This is gonna be a busy year!
For a childhood book, of that age, to be a 9.4 is awesome in itself. None of mine from that time period, are anywhere near that... 😆
So true.. it's really amazing that I read this book probably 10 times and it's still a 9.4+
They do grade the pages inside the book too, jeepers. When I watch these types of videos they make it seem to the viewers that dont really know. THEY GRADE THE WHOLE BOOK, NOT JUST THE COVER!!!

I love my little spidey knife for sure lol
Thanks for the kind words!
Keep fighting for the 9.8 score on the Wolverine 1 Jim. More work on the spine. I know you can do it. 👍
That's the plan! Thanks for watching!

I myself have a 9.6 that has about 4-5 color breaking spine ticks on a back cover. Hope you get at least your 9.6 grade back, you can do it!
Thanks, Chad! Fingers crossed!
I hate to see any setback but 100% confident you'll get your 9.8 if you do it again. Congrats on the other 9.8s!!
Thanks!

The rear cover on that Strange Academy is what can cause problems (color rub and prone to fingerprints).
That seems pretty common on the newer books. It seems like every recently made book I buy has some kind of color rub or weird scratches.
@@ImproveCollectingComics I bought 2 of these books and failed to check that back cover. BOTH had finger prints or color rub. Over time, you learn what to look out for. Spawn 9 is another one with a black rear cover that I have been burned on.
I'm jelly of your Web of Spider-Man 32 9.8
Yeah man, it's so sexy

Great video as usual !
Appreciate that!
You can see all the waves in the spine of the wolverine book through the plastic. It looks like the press reverted

crack that Wolverine #1, submit it without doing anything to it. It wouldn't surprise me if you get a 9.8 grade at some point CGC is so inconsistent.
So true. But I might as well press it and help my chances. I'll officially be losing money on it if I get
@@ImproveCollectingComics good luck on it.

My Wolverine 1 is 9.6 also, and it's flawless as far as I can see (and no graders notes of course). Their grading is inconsistent 😒
So true.. I've seen several 9.8's of this book on e-bay that have 2-3 color breaks on the spine
@@ImproveCollectingComics That’s why I personally think it’s ridiculous that 9.8’s cost so more than 9.6’s.
What number is the wolverine comic behind you the X-men ?
The one on the left is X-Men 207 and the other one is Hulk 340 (Mcfarlane)
Ok thank you and for the cross road it was hard but I like 2,3and 4.
Re send that Wolverine back again!
I almost certainly will. I may dedicate an entire video to that one book.
The graphics on the first book on screen says infinity 14 instead of coyote, just a heads up
Oops, sorry for the editing error. I always double check that too, darn
Great bumps! Man that Wolvy #1 is a stickler...... #^%%#@!%^

It's not the end of the world, at least.. it's a gorgeous book no matter what number they decide to slap on it
