Happy to hear you navigated the situation unscathed. I'm a firm believer in listening to that gut feeling and acting accordingly. I also like easy deals, I find most people who are "real buyers" give things a good look over but don't take forever to make a decision, so that's a huge red flag. I think I would have walked after 10 minutes, saying "dude take it or leave it".
I also like to do deals in the daylight, in a public place with lots of people like in front of a grocery store, courthouse or police station lobby etc. Depending on the situation, I would usually resist going to some persons house or having some random I don't know come to mine. 98% of the people are awesome, but that 2% can really mess up your day. I've met so many cool people doing Craigslist deals, that's one of the grand benefits.
That Nikon footage looks superb, and I say that as someone who has never owned anything by Nikon.

Once a guy in a oil-stained workshirt with a auto repair shop logo came down the street and asked me if he could use my phone. He said his car broke down on the highway, and he forgot his phone at work, and he needed to call his girlfriend to come pick him up. He *seemed* legit. I had been in auto repair and he looked like a repair dude. I handed him my phone, and he suddenly turned around and started running. However, I ran faster and got in front of him. He then meekly handed me my phone back, then he just walked off - looking for a slower victim probably.
Good for you man. I had some hip hop kid fall on me in a bus pretending to have a seizure, he then got up and tried getting off the bus. I noticed my phone was gone from my pocket, shouted 'you stole my phone', and drop kicked him out the bus onto the pavement. He had 3 other phones in his pocket, so I took all of them and gave them in to police later. He tried accusing me of assault, but the good folks on the bus told him to get lost, and we drove off. It's good to be bold.
The fear of getting robbed is why I use a military backpack instead of a camera bag. A camera bag has money written all over it.
Same. I just wear a normal backpack people use for school or city commutes
while you are at it, dress like a hobo and carry the camera in a plastic bag, no one is even going to think about robbing you!
With the added bonus of a big iron on your hip, no one will dare to rob a man with the BIG IRON ON HIS HIP

@@SMGJohn you can carry in Texas, but I really don’t want to shoot anybody over a camera. I do have a visible Buck knife on my belt, so far that has worked as a deterrent, but I have a backup plan just in case. It’s a whole lot easier for the bad guys to walk in to Best Buy, and walk out with whatever they want anyway.
Never go far to someone when selling, they will always try and use it as a sign of desperation to haggle yah down.

“Black” Friday. I got ripped off buying fake air pod pros on marketplace recently in a similar situation. The kid came out to meet me and I automatically thought “dammit”. But the packaging was perfect so I bought them anyways and realized they were fake once I got home.

I think the ruse was; there was never no apartment or second person. Probably didn't even live there. Once you denied the scooter outside, it ruined his plan, and he didn't know how to con his way out of it. Also, I never let anyone use my phone ever. I got burned by that before, and the person called a number which they added to their contacts, and then endless phishing and also using my number to try to access two factor auth.... Also, you are allowing them to use your phone as a burner.

All ways good to be reminded of this old scam. Happened to a guy I know who got buttered up by a tourist when showing him his gold ring. A family heirloom. Dude asked to try it on and the bone head let him. So the dude did a runner with it. The real crime is that when he told me about it he expected sympathy. Idiot! Recently heard about another dude who almost got his scooter robbed and then ended giving it away anyway. Idiot!

The face box disappears. Without that box, Nikon won't expose for your face either.

I was never almost robbed. But I did fall asleep on a city bus once ... that was scary.
The hat gave you that intimidating Fudd aura. But getting robbed can be very efficient de-cluttering.
Personally I prefer the flat image profile in the Nikon. This does look pretty good too though. For better autofocus we''re going to have to wait for the next generation of post Z8/ Z9 cameras I'm afraid. Also. More APS-C lenses would be nice although I'm not really sure those will be coming for the Z and RF mounts. It's possible though.

It reminds me a childhood story where i give away a bicycle (they threatened me) to a 2 gypsy's (almost my years) and they gone. My neighbour (he was a little bit younger than my father) was strongly speaking with them and then i returned it back (at another location, lol). I felt scary and vulnerable, cause in my World there is anything close to such violation.

The only way they could be sketchier is if they told you to take the booster. I used to buy stuff from craigslist before it turned to garbage, but selling stuff is much more annoying and not worth it. For expensive things I would just trade to friends and family not let some stranger put you through the wringer.

By looking at the title of your video, I assumed someone snatched your mirrorless camera and lens. Be careful
Never travel to sell something. If you do, you give the buyer leverage because you put skin in the game. Always have them come to you, but don't give them your home or work address. Meet them at a public place near your house where there are surveillance cameras.

The secret Nikon settings look like a landscape mode. The backround and sky looks good. The face, however, is too saturated and the highligts clip on the nose and cheeks, which is weird.
This is a good story of everything you should never do.

I switched from Fuji to Nikon earlier this year when the Z8 came out. Now have a Z6ii and thinking of getting the Z30 as a B roll camera. Footage looks amazing. Question: Have you ever thought about going through your video editing workflow? Yeah I can watch other losers do it, but I feel like you'd make it easier to understand and hilarious.
