    Dial bulb should be replaced immediately if bad since it takes some current off the heater string and rectifier. Initial
    startup seems to show it working fine. Mostly restored radio but no insulation using spaghetti tubing and left stuff hanging
    in the breeze under the chassis. Note on/off switch is connected to B- on schematic but the power plug must be polarized
    and originally wasn't. This one was but make sure it's right. Just got to be careful Seth and check to see if the radio is unplugged before working on it. Rest of repair was easy enough. Sensitive enough that it hates the flourescent lights.

    Maybe a stupid question, but why do they put those metal cylinders around some vacuum tubes? You do a fine job explaining things. I’ve learned a lot by watching your videos.

      Shield for interference from outside or inside the radio.
      The shields are grounded.

      To keep stray radiation from interfering with the I.F. amplification of the 455kc intermediate frequency and audio information.
