    I can't even imagine what Mondo's appearance fee is. He has made the Pole Vault the premier event at any meet he is in and why the Pole Vault is usually near the end of the event. As a promoter if you have Mondo at your event you can be assured of a sell out in the stands and also a sell out in advertising.

      Totally agree. You never know what tomorrow may bring, there are no guarantees in life. Imagine PURPOSELY holding back your best for future record breaking attempts, only to get into a car crash one day and become a quadriplegic. You could end up living the rest of your life in a wheelchair thinking "damn, I should have...."
      Give it everything you got while you still can, tomorrow isn't promised to anyone!

    Pole vaulted in high school in 1977, held the school record at 14 ft. Now with all the pole materials and technology, 17 and 18 feet in high school is possible. The reason that mondo can and will be the best in the world is very simple, he is the fastest pole vaulter in the world. Speed translates into height in the pole vault. He uses larger poles and holds higher than any other vaulter right now. He should create all the records within the next few years because at a certain point, his speed will decrease even by tenths of a second.

    Whats the difference between indoor and outdoor

    • @jessa813
      @jessa813 8 місяців тому

      Indoor there isn’t any wind, is a more ideal temperature, just has factors that would make them more then likely to vault higher. Same goes for other events. Outdoors there could be wind that could affect their speed, jump, and the temperature could also have an impact.

      Arguably, Sergey Bubka (Ukraine) who jumped nearly as high 30 yrs.ago with somewhat less efficient equipment. It would be interesting to see what Bubka could have done with today's poles.

      @@davida.4933 the poles are virtually identical except for personal preference. They both use(used) 5.10-5.30m glass fiber UCS spirit poles. The only thing separating their performances is the progress of time.

    • @gerstelb
      @gerstelb Рік тому

      @@davida.4933I’d say Bubka can still claim kingship. He held both the indoor and outdoor world records (breaking them himself, but not letting anyone else do so) for almost 30 years. Except for the fact that he only ever won one Olympic gold medal, it’s hard to think of a major track and field event that has ever been dominated for so long by one athlete.

      There was a lot of factors for that not just that his mother is swedish.. He's brother competed for Sweden. Sweden would let his father still be his coach. His father and him had much more freedom to decide things. His father was also "official National team Swedish trainer" in competitions and all that. Sweden has easier try-outs to Olympics. He can focus on becoming the best. Not as in US he has 1 competition he needs to be good at. If he fails he won't go to Olympics and so on. Sweden offered him a better deal overall. They let him do his things and check how far it has taken him. I know for a fact in US that there is a lot of politics and bureaucracy and people trying to meddle with everything. I can garantee that if he would have competed for the US national team he would not have had the success he has had now with all the world records
