In today's video: it's a beautiful sunny day in Tokyo - let's explore a new neighborhood ☀️ I started my day at 9AM for a latte at Onibus Coffee, watching the trains pass by their window 🚃 I got to update my travel journal and plan my last days in Japan 🥺 I continued this splendid morning to Flour + Water, a very popular brunch place in Tokyo! 🥐 Delicious 😋 At 12PM, I was one of the first ones to visit the (original!) store of Traveler's Factory in Nakameguro (I spent some time there - shopping and writing some postcards - and I will show it to you in one of the next vlogs!). I walked around the quiet streets of Nakameguro and stopped by the last café of the day: Under the Mat! Such a good surprise! I got to write in their international guests book ☺️ ❤️ I ended this perfect day in the perfect way: watching the latest Miyazaki movie in a movie theater before heading back to my hotel to see the sunset from the rooftop 🌆

Nakameguro seems so nice and calm, would you recommend staying there during a 4-day visit to Tokyo? I'm planning my trip and would like to stay in a more calm neighbourhood. And I'll try to add another stick to that Brazil map 😄

If you're looking for a quiet neighborhood, I totally recommend Nakameguro! Something I do when I plan a trip (and I recommend to all travelers!) is to use the "pins" function of your Google Maps account: pin all the places you'd like to visit during your stay (cafés, museums, palaces, restaurants...)! At some point (and if you're lucky!), the neighborhoods you should stay in will appear on the map... For you to minimize commute! 💪 I did this for Tokyo and Kyoto, and I was always very happy with my choices of accomodation because it was always very practical to follow my travel plans!

Favourite cafe was Onibus ( play of words with omnibus and oni, the Japanese folklore creature? wonder if they got tired yet of westeners asking what happened to the m... 😏), interesting architecture and use of space, outside and upstairs, plus of course the fascinating train traffic.
It hit me watching this vlog that your colourful watercolours remind me of Florent Chavouet's work ( _love_ his Manabeshima island one), wonder if he's one of your sources of inspiration. Obrigado

Indeed! I did think there were a few metaphors I couldn't grasp... The frustrating thing is, when I finished watching it, I went on the Internet/Reddit/Forums to find some answers and try to read what smarter people had to say about it... But there was nothing yet! 😂 The movie had only been out in Japan, in Japanese at that time 😭 I had to wait a few weeks to read some movie analysis 😅

彼の昔のエッセイは蔦屋にはあると思いますから是非、見てください。
ヨーロッパ退屈日記と言う本です。文庫本で発売しているかもしれません。外国かぶれの少年の教科書でした。

I stayed in the Shinagawa Prince Annex when I was back in Tokyo in March. As many times as I have stayed there I have never watched a movie at the IMAX. 🤷♂
No worries, there's so much to do in Tokyo, going to the movie theater is probably not a must 😅 but it was really cool that day because it was apparently "the last Miyazaki movie" 😂

It was a tad confusing even in my own language the first time I watched it, I can only imagine what an experience it must have been in Japanese ahah. I was so confused too! Worst thing is, after watching it, I started to google about it to find movie analysis... but there was nothing yet! (as it had only been released in Japan and in Japanese 😭) I had to wait a few weeks before reading more about it and understanding more of the symbolism... 😂

Under the Mat but I could spend a whole day in any of them and be happy. How was the croissant compare to the real ones in a boulangerie in France? The last time I was in Paris, I gave my self a challenge to eat as many pain au chocolat as possible in a day. I tapped out at 6 but I continued the next day.

I agree, all the cafés were wonderful ☺️ The croissant was good! I was honestly pleasantly surprised by everything I tasted in Japan that was from another culture... French croissants or Italian pasta, they really know how to replicate these! 😍
