I will choose swift 3 over 3x anytime. It has a better screen and better keyboard, 3x has more powerful graphic, yes, but if I am buying a laptop for graphics power I won't choose neither of them. I can play r6 casually on fhd and 60fps, and do some light video editing using Pr, both laptops seem to be capable of that. Plus swift 3 is cheaper and has a shorter name. I bought a swift 3x (i7) on very short term notice as I found my old laptop was broken the night before my first classes of the semester. I couldn't be happier with my purchase (especially considering how hastily I made it). I wanted a very solid laptop that was faster and less bulky than my old i3 Dell Latitude e5550. It's slim, light, fast, and does everything I need it to do faster than I need it to do it. Personally, despite the bigger screen I find the regular swift 3 to look kind of ugly (mostly because of the bigger, more square screen). Maybe it isn't the perfect value for the price, but given the circumstances I was in, I'm very happy with what I got and I'm comfortable recommending this laptop to others.
Been enjoying my Swift 3 (SF314-59). I went for the 16:9 16gb ram version instead of the 3:2 8gb version cause my requirements were media consumption. And 16gb ram cause ram is soldered. Absolutely loving it. I often play gta 5 on it too, and it's enjoyable. Battery life is the main reason I went for a ultra book.
This laptop is a beast and ultra-portable. It is so fast. display is not dim and have very good colors. The keyboard is clicky and responsive and light to the hand when typing. The trackpad is smooth and responsive. My complaint is only the speakers which has low volume and hard to hear. It can be managed with a headphone or external speaker. This is the best mid-range laptop. I upgraded Windows 10 to Windows 11 but found usability of Windows 11 so hard, so I dual booted it with Ubuntu 20.04 GNU Linux. I am using the LXQT desktop environment with my bash scripts for my software web testing work.
If my only two choices are the swift 3 and 3x I'd go for the 3 and only at a price of under $799US. At $899 you can get a MacBook Air with education discount.
Loved this review, probably the swift 3, looking at getting a new laptop at the moment and one of the criteria is for it be able to do occasional video editing, I take it 1080p would be fine although it would be a struggle with 4k?
@@Han14982 It has nothing to do with buying a new machine every year. My laptop is 6 years old for example. But i know that "HD 1080p" is not something to be impressed about. Almost any laptop made in the last 10 years can play that, even cheap 5 year old phones, without a problem.

Its a good laptop but has a couple downsides.. the speaker sound quality is shocking, I can barely hear any videos i watch on youtube or music i try listen to. The touchpad is also not the best, i feel its not very responsive.
I just bought the newest swift 3 in my country.. core i5 evo certified with 16 gb ram and 512 gb ssd pcie gen 4 for around $850 (converted from IDR). It is surprisingly great!! The 3:2 version no longer exists

One thing M1 air definitely loses, is that it doesn't have Thunderbolt 4 to connect an eGPU. Also, price. MacBook Air M1 costs SO much more with 16gb Ram for power users at least in my country

Hi, I bought an Acer Swift 3 SF14-511/SF314-43, it has a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G processor and a 8GB RAM. as I just said it randomly turns off without warning and then immediately starts up what can I do, apparently others had the same problem due to an update but I nothing I do seems to make it go away, I'm going to change to a different laptop all together soon unless I find a way to fix it, thank you

EVO is marketing bs, and you can't get realistic 10hrs browsing battery life on a laptop with less than a 70Wh battery. >70Wh + good factory power calibration = 10 hrs, assuming everything like Bluetooth, Keyboard Backlight, Speakers are turned off, the Screen brightness is less than 50%, and the Windows power profile is on "Battery Saver" mode.

I have the Acer swift 3 and am in the process of returning it. It was great for the first 6 months, but then the speakers started making crackling noises and the screen would freeze multiple times a day. Maybe mine was a dud.
@@mushroomsoup2789 Never had it near water, it was a hardware problem. They replaced the motherboard and the issues have not returned and hopefully will never return. If you search "acer crackling" you'll see other people have had the same problem.
@@thafathanouti5439 It's up to you. As I said, mine might be a dud. Unfortunately, the problem came back within a month and I've had to send it in to get "repaired" 3 times now (luckily under warranty). Every time it seems fixed, but the problem usually comes back within a month.
I got the 2019 model when it came out and it was about $800USb but it has a 8GB OF RAM and a 512GB SSD and an atlon chip which was decent and a 14 inch 1080p screen

@@sam-kd7hp Man you could use a program to stop the pmw flikering. But it will drain the battery about twice as fast and it makes the screen look like it has night light on. Just so you know, there is that option in case you want to switch between pmw and the 'night light' option thing

@@siddhantyadav450 Hi! The Xe Max is great for video editing cause it's faster than a desktop class RTX 2080Ti. Also you can use both the integrated and discrete to accelerate rendering, AI, simulation and do a pci pasthrough for Virtual machine. The Optane makes loading everything superfast. Totally worth it. The display is great for text but not so great for graphics cause it's not so accurate but thanks to Thunderbolt 4 you can hook up 2 4k panels easily. The battery life varies on tasks. On my usage I'm getting just above 5 hours. Some people get 10 so I'm not sure what's going on there. But it only needs a 65w type C charger so that's good. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase as it does everything I need flawlessly. Hope that helps.

Yes, this is one of the best laptops to dual-boot Ubuntu. Everything works right away under Ubuntu.

I myself am looking for a laptop since I'll be going to University this year (Computer Science). I wanted to get your opinion about the laptop. I also have a few doubts about:
1. Its Intel Xe Max Graphics- Are they worth going for (above the swift 3)?
2. Is the Intel Optane Memory really all that great?
3. Is the display crisp enough? Because while coding, we require the text to be as small as possible while retaining its readability.
4. Also what about its battery life?

@@siddhantyadav450 Hi! The Xe Max is great for video editing cause it's faster than a desktop class RTX 2080Ti. Also you can use both the integrated and discrete to accelerate rendering, AI, simulation and do a pci pasthrough for Virtual machine.
The Optane makes loading everything superfast. Totally worth it.
The display is great for text but not so great for graphics cause it's not so accurate but thanks to Thunderbolt 4 you can hook up 2 4k panels easily.
The battery life varies on tasks. On my usage I'm getting just above 5 hours. Some people get 10 so I'm not sure what's going on there. But it only needs a 65w type C charger so that's good.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase as it does everything I need flawlessly. Hope that helps.

@@nilotpaldwivedi5887 Don't get me wrong. The display is gorgeous. But if you're doing print work it's not entirely ideal. You'll need to invest in a secondary monitor if you're doing graphics work professionally.
I’d go with Acer Swift 3. Then invest on a good External GPU!
If you were going to buy a laptop for around £1000 would you be happy to buy now or are you expecting any interesting models that might be worth waiting for later in the year?
Do they have TPM 2.0?
Just got a referb A grade swift 3 not updated screen 5500u 8gb 1tb for 370 pounds I call that a bargain considering its 600 pounds new.
can it be charged via usb-c¿?
If I would be a gamer, I would propably choose the Swift 3x. But as a Programmer, which I am, I prever the standart aluminium version.
do you think 8 gb ram swift 3 enough for a junior programmer? just for 3 or 4 years
