How to start a story?

When I'm writing a story I never start from the beginning. I usually have an idea for a character or a scene or even an ending. Then I write the story chaotically and leave the beginning for last. The first sentence my readers go through are the most important because if they don't grab your interest or show you what the story will hold you will never reach the great moments I had in my mind writing it.
