    well organized tutorial. having the set of tools I will need BEFORE I get started really reduces the frustration of small engine maintenance.

    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

    I use a handheld Horror Fright sand blaster with baking soda in it to clean corrosion and deposits from aluminum carb parts. Won’t damage the aluminum and dissolves in water. It is also good practice to remove the main jet and the emulsion tube underneath and clean them thoroughly. Also, there is a pilot jet underneath the rubber plug next to the main jet. Always want to make sure all those tiny holes are clear of any deposits or debris. Use a tiny stiff wire such as from a wire brush and run it thru all those tiny openings in the jets and emulsion tube, then blast clean with carb cleaner.

    • @nerdneck2248
      @nerdneck2248  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, I should have cleaned the jet for this video. I made it moreso to show how to get the damn thing off (that stupid sticker messed me up). I think in the future, I'm going to get a ultrasonic cleaner and do it that way. I have a few mowers that have spotted pitting in the bowls and blasting might help that. Probably would get myself a blasting cabinet. I have one of those little handheld ones that I have glass bead in and it's okay, but it's a pain in the ass to use with PPE (face shield and mask).

    like your video. when something is wrong with my tractor i call the pros to have it fix it for me, i end up paying $200 or 300 dollars for repairs, you make it simple. i like that. I don't need a Ph.D. in mechanics. you're a good teacher. to me that was something from an otherworld. looking @ you doing it is very easy n simple. thanks, have a nice day. PS. i can save some money doing it myself. Take care.

    Great video! I followed it to the letter and it fixed the "Won't Start" issue. Mine also had two 8mm bolts on the back side in addition to the two 10mm bolts on the front. Other than that, it was exactly the same. I also found it a little "easier" to disconnect the throttle linkage and spring from the bottom instead of wrestling with them from the top. I don't either way is easy, we just have to put up with it and that's all there is to it. These things are just different enough where one way may be easier than the other. I had this video playing on my iPad while doing the work. It totally saved the day. Thanks for posting it!

    Great video. I got a Cub Cadet from my boss/work for $50 (probably give him a little more bc he thought I meant just the engine). I probably saved it from the scrap. It sat for around 2 years and it has some oil leaks, it has no oil in it after sitting for that long.
    It also won’t start (cranked it without oil, oof. Glad it didn’t start), my plan is to drain the gas, blow the lines out, then put the carb back/do a service kit.
    I mainly bought it for a being go cart, it has deck issues and I’ll probably fix that whenever I feel like it and wanna spend the money on parts.

    Thank you... i really dont want to do this but changed my fuel pump and it won't stay running. Its going to take me all morning !
    One question. Do I always start with choke and full throttle ? or just after cleaning ?
    I have been starting with choke and a little throttle. its hot summer now.
    I am new to this mower

    • @nerdneck2248
      @nerdneck2248  3 роки тому

      Start with choke on and FULL throttle. You may want to check if your carb is actually getting fuel since you replaced the fuel pump. You can do this by unhooking the outlet hose on the pump and seeing if fuel comes out when cranking the engine (assuming it's been cranked for a little bit beforehand which will draw fuel up to the pump if its working).

If u r still out there can u tell me how to remove engine cover on a cub SLTX 1054. I removed all bolts and the pump only to discover that the gas tank is in the way. Am I missing something obvious?

      Sure, just make sure to remove any gaskets and seals and don't let the brake clean get on them at all. Make sure to wipe it down well too.

      The needle and seat are not matching up..The needle is not sealing when the float goes up so it will fill the engine with gas.

    Only thing I seen wrong is carb cleaner on a rubber seal, don't think you're supposed to use it on a rubber gasket

    • @nerdneck2248
      @nerdneck2248  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, probably not. This was a pretty weak carb cleaner on it for no time at all. But shouldn't have done it really! It can make the rubber swell if it gets a chance to soak in.
