How to Fix Wrong Screen Size - Windows

- I shut down my Dell laptop computer, and when I restarted it, there were annoying black strips / black bars on either side of my screen. I went into control panel - display to try to change the resolution or something but nothing worked. I say that other people on the internet also had similar problems in the discussion forums, but there was no solution. This video show how to fix that annoying problems of black strips cause by the screen being improperly sized.

hello i would like to tell anyone here who haves this problem if its happening on windows 11 go to settings then display then change the resolution to the one recommend then it would fix the problem and pls favourite this so any one else can read this

Your way didn't quite work for me after that I had to change the resolution to 1360 X 768 without doing that it looked weird like weird but thank you I was worried not to worried but worried
Just update your windows 10... After that you can even set resolution to 4k

Go to search bar- type "display".
Click "change system display settings
At the bottom click "advanced display settings"
Then hit "display adapter properties for display 1"
Click the "monitor" tab.
It says screen refresh rate:
-change it from 60 hertz to 75 hertz

jaynes network hi I tried to download a game and it messed up my resolution now whenever I log onto my laptop I have the same bars except my screen is extremely zoomed in and the bar on the bottom is really squished I kinda fixed it by pressing the window button and x and changing the display screen back to normal. But it’s just whenever I log in the screen resolution is very bad. Is there any way I can fix this? I have a windows 7 laptop

I know I’m a few years late but I recommend changing resolution to 1920 x 1080 so it doesn’t look stretched.

i just wanted to play lego the hobbit and it made my screen have the black on the sides 😭
I FIXED IT all i had to do was change the refresh rate from what it was to a lower one and then back to what it was and its fixed

Mines go to the AMD Catalyst control center not intel idk why its goes to AMD Catalyst control center yours go to intel

thought it was just me with this issue. i will edit to say if it works for me or not edit: can't accesss the control pannel edit 2: 3 weeks later my laptop restarted it self and now its back to normal

WINDOWS 10 USER: If you have a windows 10 like myself, repeat the same process has he did until 2:22. Instead of ''Selecting Display'' go to Scaling and select ''Scaling full Screen'' then apply

for me, everything was incorrect, the icons in the taskbar and the taskbar itself is showing 0only 1/3 of its self, and if i move a icon on my desktop screen to the very end or corner, it dissapears
