@Gventures cool, we'll take a look, thanks. We're in Egypt most of April and back to Cairo before flying out, so we'll be ready for some non-Egyptian for by then. Avic does need her Asian food fix, do you know of anywhere decent in Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, or Hurghada?
@@ExploreTayo Ahhhh. Unfortunately I really, really don't. It's been a huge disappointment for me, as someone who loves Asian food (favorite is Thai) and spent some time living in Vietnam and traveling all around Asia. Indian food is okay here, but when I think of Asian food I don't typically think of Indian. They are in their own category for me😅 But if you like Indias food, try Maharaja in Zamalek. I have also just been told today (after this video came out, an Egyptian commented) that there is a good restaurant called “The Chinese Muslim” Restaurant in Nasr City (in Cairo, but still a drive depending on where you are staying, because it's a big city). I also recently heard that restaurant was good from another source, so it's something that may be worth checking out. Apparently there is a small Asias community in Nasr City and people from Malaysia and Indonesia have established some restaurants out there. I will probably make a video there at some point in the future, but not sure when. The only restaurant I can actually vouch for is called "Birdcage." I went there for my birthday one year and it's insanely expensive for Egypt, even by Western standards I don't think it's super cheap, but the prices are not surprising considering it's in a 5 star hotel (Semiramis InterContinental Hotel). It's close to downtown and as good as it's going to get for Cairo (it's a Thai food restaurant). A cheaper option is Sabai Sabai (also Thai) which is located in Zamalek (the island close to downtown), but they were pretty disappointing to be honest. It's better than nothing, but I can't say it's great. Chinese food is horrible from everywhere I have tried (but I haven't tried in Nasr City yet, apparently they have some more Asian communities out there, from the sounds of it). Japanese restaurants can also be found on Zamalek. The sushi isn't bad I guess, but to be honest I am not a sushi connoisseur. In my mind, how bad can you actually f up sushi? 🤣I am sure it can be done, but...it's still sushi 😅 Vietnamese is impossible to find. That's all I got!
@Gventures thanks for the insight. Agreed, Indian (South Asian) is very different. East/Southeast Asian is what we're looking for, she's Filipina and can't go very long without it. 🤣 I checked out the Chinese Muslim, it looks pretty promising, we might have to take a taxi. If it's Xinjiang food (the Muslim part of China) then that would be fabulous. If you've never had Xinjiang cuisine, you've gotta check it out, it's so good! 🔥
Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed the lights of Cairo. The floodlighting of the buildings is most impressive. I didn’t know Cairo was so beautiful at night. Perhaps they should call Cairo the City of Lights of North Africa. This restaurant is in a nice neighbourhood, I going to guess el Mohadisene or Dokki?
@ I did a little research. The part of downtown that this restaurant is located in and please correct me if I am wrong, is Bab El Louk. This is very significant to me because my late grandfather’s residence was there. When I returned for a visit to Cairo in 1972, I stayed a few days there. However, the neighbourhood must of undergone some form of gentrification because if my memory is correct, Bab El Louk looked bland, depressed and dreary. The image I see in your excellent vlog is of an area that is rather modern, hip, cheerful and a delight to visit.
@@cherifbar Yes it is indeed in Bab el Louk. I of course do not know how it looked like over 50 years ago in 1972, but I would not be surprised by the many changes that would have happened in that time frame. Like any place, transformations take place with the passage of time, and a half a century is not exactly a small amount of time for those changes to happen. Bab el Louk in general is not a massive area (in fact I lived in a hostel just a block or 2 from Bab el Louk area when I first arrived to Cairo over 3 years ago), but it covers an area I have recorded many videos in, even if just passing through. I record a lot of videos in downtown and quite a lot of them happen to be in Bab el Louk, even for just small clips. Those include the video about kahk (at the cafe where I ate them), parts of the safety in Egypt video (the most recent one), the market or groceries in Bab el Louk, nightlife in Cairo (at El Horreya) and probably many, many others that are just not occurring to me at the moment. But pleased you could see this restaurant on the edges of Bab el Louk.
I really like your videos. Your voice really works. I am wondering, now that the GEM has been open for awhile, would you mind going back for a more in depth series?
I've made 2 videos at the GEM Once before they even opened their doors ua-cam.com/video/h_bIFfTRqtc/v-deo.html And the other one recently when they opened 12 new galleries ua-cam.com/video/2USJZ3JAFSw/v-deo.html I don't know if I will be filming their again until they fully open the museum. But maybe I will...
@ I hope you can too! And if it takes a lot longer for them to fully open, perhaps I will return and make another video that is more in depth for what is currently available 🙏
NOT fair - where’s mine? OMG that looked good - and I watched that pizza slowly disappear in crunchy, juicy mouthfuls. Torture! But also enjoyable. I could have helped with the remaining half though.... Then Tiramisu - no that’s too much to endure! Great video though, and a really nice place too - thanks Giselle! That last slice is MINE by the way.
@@Gventures Sadly no, not right now. Was joking about that last slice of pizza with my name on it! I do live in Turkey though. Love Cairo, been many times.
@ Oh you live in Turkey, wow! I know for sure you have been to Egypt many times (I feel I know you a bit through the comments, though in reality don't know that much about you 😅), but I didn't realize you live in Turkey! That's cool. What a life 😎
Cairoma is a famous restaurant with high prices offering high quality food, but there's better restaurants offering more value for less money, thanks for sharing your experience🌹 and waiting for more interesting experiences 💪
As @bearllande has commented, please share these cheaper but equally delicious restaurants! I make videos at all sorts of restaurants (last one about koshary was a cost of $0.50 USD for a meal), but that wasn't for Italian pizza. If you know of a good pizza place (that is actually GOOD) and ALSO cheap, I would love to know. I will try it and if it's good, I will make a video there later. Otherwise, I obviously make many videos at cheaper restaurants for Egyptian food (dozens of them on my food playlist, found on my main page).
I never stopped loving Italian food I am glad you enjoyed it what’s the name of the restaurant ? If you want to buy Burrata you might find it at high end chain supermarkets like Seoudi and Gourmet , Oscar and maybe Metro
I've tried at Seoudi! No luck. Also looked at Gourmet, still nothing. Never tried Oscar or Metro, but my hopes aren't high 😅 The restaurant name is Cairoma. Thank you Nermeen ❤️🙏
It's nice to travel, to experience the culture, the food and the places of other countries. But this is all about Egypt, so I don't understand why. Did she moved to Egypt forever? 😂😂😂
just wondering- you paid 700 egp equivalent to 12$ so when you say thats expensive do you mean egyptian standards or US standards. i know its expensive as hell egyptian standards cause im egyptian myself, but i just wanted it from your perspective. i live 2 minutes from this restaurant lmao
It's expensive Egyptian standards. In the U.S. shit is insanely expensive and the last time I was living there I never went out and did anything, just tried to save my money and gtfo. Not because of prices but just because I didn't like it
Lezeez !!! ( u taught me ) -- 15$ for the meal including dessert, that was a good deal --- The ambiance was cool - it looks very juvenile - When I was in Cairo I observed many young people, I assume locals, in these famous avenues - Tahir square and the others, even the one you were showing, many young couples and modern music -- I wonder without intending to offend anyone , how young generations in Egypt view the world and balance it with the restrictions of their religion which I 100% respect - Of course, one can be a devout person and enjoy life, anyways. No need to respond if not feeling like it. Take care Guiselle and keep enjoying.
Haha, yes, lezeez gidden! $15 a meal really is really expensive for Egypt though. But if you're comparing to many Western countries, it's not expensive. Different currencies, different wages, different costs of living. I can't really answer your question about the younger generation though because I am not a young Egyptian. Maybe some young Egyptians will see this comment and weigh in. As you already said - one can be devout and enjoy their life. It's a different culture with different customs and practices and ways of life.
Buon Appetito Gigi. I totally agree with you that asian food in Cairo is not so great....but....that was until I found a hidden gem of a Restaurant run by a Chinese family that immigrated here. It’s called “The Chinese Muslim” Restaurant. It’s in Madinet Nasr though, quite the distance from you, plus it’s a little expensive but totally totally totally totally worth it in my opinion. The noodles are out of this world! Seriously recommend it if you like chinese cuisine.
Thanks for the suggestion! I actually just recently heard about this place, and the fact that there is a small community out there so a fair amount of Asian restaurants that are somewhat decent. It is quite a drive for me, but I think I will go check it out sometime. Thanks Hashem!
What do you consider expensive.?? Been to Alexandria with just 100 us$ in my pocket and stayed in a cheap but very clean hostel, plus food. I brought 30, dollars back.
Well not crazy expensive. It’s a bit more expensive than other chinese or asian restaurants, but there’s not comparison to begin with them other places. You get your money’s worth in terms of taste and authenticity. I’d say 10-15 bucks will get you a full and satisfactory meal. You’d probably pay a little less in other places that score high in the disappointment scale.
I dunno I'm an American, I always tip too much (says my Egyptian bf), but I can't help it. I used to be a server and I like to tip a lot to make someone happy. Tipping in Egypt is typically very low though. Round up to the nearest 5 or 10 for a taxi. Local restaurants usually no tip or same as the taxi. For fancy restaurants like this though....maybe 10%? I left more, of course 🤣. But depending on the size of your bill, even 10% may be too generous (for Egyptians). I remember when I first got to Egypt and went out with a friend I made, we got something at a cafe that costed maybe $5-$7 total, and I think I tipped around $1.50 and she freaked out when she saw me put the money down, said "Nooooooo this is too much!" and quickly stuffed it back into my hand 😆
@ thank you, I’m from Vegas and I live on tips as a bell man so I tip generously. I appreciate the great videos and if I see you in Cairo I’ll be sure to say hi. We arrive tonight and will explore Cairo Tuesday and Friday. Looking forward to an amazing trip. Thank you again for the great videos and tipping guide.
At this moment, no....😅 It sounds like a lot of work. Because I don't know anything about it, where to film, I would have a lot of homework to do to make that video and at this time I just don't feel like it 😅 But uh....I'll add it to my list of future videos, anyway. Probably you're not the only person that would like that kind of video
Still below cost of a fast food place in any Western country. I hope that you can support your video expenses, showing us Cairo places, from Youtbe revenues. I have been watcheng complete videos and liking them to support you. BTW, I have seen that UA-camrs have separate videos on how much they make from them. It may be another video, just to give you an idea, if you find that interesting. I find Cairo and Egypt am inexpensive place to be. What I did not like are huge social differences among population.
Yes, because I make U.S. dollars from my UA-cam videos, I can support myself just fine. I am not super rich from UA-cam, but dollars in Egypt always go much further. I also have 2 jobs, not just UA-cam, so I work a lot to ensure I have money not only to live here but to travel abroad (visit my family outside of Egypt, etc.). But I think just because some UA-camrs are willing to display their income does not mean every single one is (for example, I am not trying to make a video about how much money I make at this time). I think that privacy is okay, maybe you wouldn't want to make a video about your income and display that to the world, or many other people wouldn't be interested in doing that either. But I am happy you are enjoying my videos, I do appreciate your support. And I do not like social disparity either. Unfortunately, that does exist all over the world and I do not know what I can do about that to change it. It's an age old question that nobody has found an answer to.
Oh you're comparing dollars? Ahaha well, join the line of tourists then I guess, that's what they do. I already explained, if you don't get it, that's fine 🤷♀️
@@Gventures no i'm just clarifying for the tourists xD , even locally though considering it's not your avg easy to make dessert that u can find anywhere it's not that unreasonable compared to other food places :)
I stopped watching your videos because of the forced to listen to music that you chose to use especially the lame heavy beats.👎👎👎 #1 reason people click off UA-cam videos is bad music or sound.
Oh it's you again! Still watching my videos and commenting that you're not! 😂 Seriously mate, f off, I don't care what music you like or don't 🤣 Once again, I don't make these videos for you. It's not all about you (hard to believe, I know! 😲)
Don't tell me what to do or how to be. If you don't like it then you don't need to watch. I am not changing myself for anything or anyone. Like it or leave it.

I checked out the Chinese Muslim, it looks pretty promising, we might have to take a taxi. If it's Xinjiang food (the Muslim part of China) then that would be fabulous. If you've never had Xinjiang cuisine, you've gotta check it out, it's so good! 🔥
@ It's on my list now 😁
Thank you for this video.
Actually I say in the video, it's in downtown Cairo. But yes Cairo and Egypt in general is just so beautiful at night, I love it. ❤️
I've made 2 videos at the GEM
Once before they even opened their doors

And the other one recently when they opened 12 new galleries

I don't know if I will be filming their again until they fully open the museum. But maybe I will...
@@Gventures I saw both. Was just wondering. That’s ok. Hopefully I’ll get there and see it myself!
@ I hope you can too! And if it takes a lot longer for them to fully open, perhaps I will return and make another video that is more in depth for what is currently available 🙏
@ Shkran!
We have a backup copy from all countries for emergencies😂😂
🤣
NOT fair - where’s mine? OMG that looked good - and I watched that pizza slowly disappear in crunchy, juicy mouthfuls. Torture! But also enjoyable. I could have helped with the remaining half though.... Then Tiramisu - no that’s too much to endure! Great video though, and a really nice place too - thanks Giselle! That last slice is MINE by the way.
🤣 Last slice is waiting for you Lesley!
@@Gventures I'm at Izmir Airport as we speak! 🤣🤣
@ Really!!! Ah I hope you had a good time in Turkey, such a beautiful country! Are you coming straight to Cairo?!
I am curious too
@@Gventures there are many, the most famous are sapori, 900° and primos pizza
@@ysm126a Yeah but none of those places are cheap. I made a video at Sapori maybe 2 years ago now

I think it would be cute if you tried romanticizing what a day in your life living in cairo is like, would love to see it from that perspective maybe
"Romanticizing" 😄 I'll consider it 😉
It's nice to travel, to experience the culture, the food and the places of other countries. But this is all about Egypt, so I don't understand why. Did she moved to Egypt forever? 😂😂😂
Yes I do live in Egypt. It says that in the "about" section on my channel.
just wondering- you paid 700 egp equivalent to 12$ so when you say thats expensive do you mean egyptian standards or US standards. i know its expensive as hell egyptian standards cause im egyptian myself, but i just wanted it from your perspective.
i live 2 minutes from this restaurant lmao
It's a different culture with different customs and practices and ways of life.
great looking pizza ... never been there .. do they serve beer/wine?
No, no beer or wine here
Buon Appetito Gigi.
You’re most welcome Gigi 🙏 Hope you like it.
Hola! Soy Jorge! Me gusto conocerte ! Te gusta la cerveza Quilmes negra? Espero antes que te vallas de buenos aires! Podamos hablar otra ves!
Haha, what's up man? Nice meeting you, it was good chatting 👍
Oooh i just get it Cairoma =Cairo+Roma 😂😂
😄👍
What do you tip? We’ll be there in 2 days and I’m not sure what to tip restaurants
@@johnatkinson6067 Awesome, thank you John! And welcome to Cairo!!! ❤🇪🇬
A line of people, aka a queue. lol
Lol yeah queue is a British term. We say line in the U.S.
Bon Appetit
Hi. Egypt is known for their cotton. Is there interest on highlighting this and the products?
At this moment, no....😅 It sounds like a lot of work. Because I don't know anything about it, where to film, I would have a lot of homework to do to make that video and at this time I just don't feel like it 😅 But uh....I'll add it to my list of future videos, anyway. Probably you're not the only person that would like that kind of video
Bon appetit Pasta Egiziano😂
Why don't you make a live stream ??
Because my action camera doesn't have that capability.
A little too much cheese on the pizza slice, I think...
I love cheese 😄 But yes that burrata ball was huge
But pizza looks good jou it all
160 isn't really that expensive , it's basically 3 $
Oh you're comparing dollars? Ahaha well, join the line of tourists then I guess, that's what they do. I already explained, if you don't get it, that's fine 🤷♀️
@@Gventures no i'm just clarifying for the tourists xD , even locally though considering it's not your avg easy to make dessert that u can find anywhere it's not that unreasonable compared to other food places :)
@@TheAhmed232323 Where are you normally eating? 😂Ahmed that's a very expensive dessert, easy or not, it's very expensive for Egypt.
inflation ↗💥
Inflation sucks. Also, foreign food was always expensive
