  • Wekiwa Springs State Park was our launch for this trip. Taking a left off the Wekiva River up Rock Springs Run, Otter Camp is located 3 miles from the canoe and kayak launch at the state park. You can also reach this camp from Kings Landing and following the river downstream about 4 miles. There is also one other camp, Big Buck Camp, located off of Rock Springs Run.
It took us almost 3 hours to paddle from launch to camp, with multiple portages.
The headspring for Wekiwa Springs and also Rock Springs are part of a 15 mile tunnel system within the protected area, however due to incidents in the past both entrances to the tunnel systems are blocked off. You can still do some free diving at both Wekiwa Springs State Park and at Kelly Park (that hosts Rock Springs).
This was another amazing experience and one that we will definitely be doing again in the future, possibly a multi day trip instead.
Thank you for following along on our adventures!

Do you need reservations for otter camp? Lol. I've been wanting to do an overnight trip on my sup and use my hammock. I remember they had another camp asking that run if I'm not mistaken. Nice video.

Yeah they also have Big Buck camp a little further upstream. We did not need reservations however I did call that morning just to make sure. Thanks for the feedback!

@@backyardkayakingcamping8778 gotcha, thanks. That would suck to paddle upstream and it's already taken with campers haha.

The camp is bigger than it looks. The clearing goes back a ways but we had trouble finding suitable trees without alot of undergrowth.

Hey, glad to see another video from you guys!. Tammy and I have scheduled to camp here soon. We are currently shopping for a Tandem Kayak. We was thinking about it from watching your videos. And we recently went to 3 Sisters Springs and rented a Kayak. Had so much fun. "Tater-Salad" Yummy! How was the skeeters?

Honestly dusk and dawn they were pretty brutal, we brought some 40% Deet bugspray that did the trick for me but Jessie had a skin reaction to it so she hid in the hammock most of the time. We immediately bought permethrin when we got home. Glad to hear! 3 sisters is on my list of To-Dos for next year! Hoping to get some shots of Manatees maybe in January/February. Tandem kayaks are hard 🤣🤣 but if you can figure it out they can be alot of fun.

@@backyardkayakingcamping8778 Oh yeah tandem was challenging, we did a lot of zig-zagging....lol 15 min paddle north of 3 Sisters is a place called The Key Hole, thats where tons of Manatees will be found during the months your going. We didnt see any as it was very warm and the Manatee's are out doing what ever they do.....lol
