  • These smoked pork steaks are truly unbelievably delicious! Give this smoked pork steaks recipe a try!
    Our seasoning is now available! www.midsouthfla...
    We take these pork butt steaks and spritz them with a little apple juice before applying our favorite BBQ rub. Then we smoke them for about 2 hours. Spritz them with more apple juice after an hour. We are smoking these on a Camp Chef Woodwind pellet grill, but you can use any smoker or grill to achieve similar results!
    After smoking for 2 hours, spritz them again before wrapping the pork steaks tightly in foil. Cook for another hour on 250 degrees.
    Unwrap the steaks after an hour and apply BBQ sauce. Put back on the grill for another 10-15 minutes to let the BBQ sauce tack up!
    On the grill or in the kitchen, here in the MID-SOUTH, we do FLAVOR

    Can’t wait to try this. That process is almost like the way I do my St. Louis Style ribs on the Traeger. And those are the Bomb-diggity.

    Isn't it time for a thermopop? 😆 I just smoked one Saturday with apple on a Weber with a reverse sear, pulled 170°. I want to try another one using your method. Looked killer.

    Got to ask are you making pork steaks or modified pulled pork? Try smoking them to 135 than sear them on griddle or grill to 145 and eat it like a steak. If I want fall apart just make pulled pork when I want a steak make it have a nice steak texture

    All was going amazingly until you pulled out Heinz BBQ sauce. I'm doing these right now, but it'll be a good local BBQ sauce, like Gates.

    • @MidSouthFlavor
      @MidSouthFlavor  4 роки тому +1

      lol, trust me, that's the best version of a sauce that Heinz makes. However, I haven't used it in a long time. My favorite sauce is Country Bob's Sweet Honey BBQ Sauce.

    • @powercatjeffy
      @powercatjeffy 4 роки тому +1

      @@MidSouthFlavor I don't mind sweet sauces, but I prefer tangy, less sweet sauce. Gates Spicy is my favorite, but the original is ok, too. My family likes Sweet Baby Ray's.
      I didn't sauce the steaks last night. They were smaller, so I used a different rub on each one. Montreal Steak, Bone Suckin sauce rub, and my personal favorite, Hardcore Carnivore. You have to try that. It's amazing.

    • @MidSouthFlavor
      @MidSouthFlavor  4 роки тому

      @@powercatjeffy I've never heard of Gates, but I do like spicy! We have our own brand of seasoning for pork, chicken, burgers, etc. I haven't marketed my steak seasoning yet, but we sell a lot of our BBQ seasoning. I have a spicy version which is my favorite!
      Check out www.midsouthflavor.com to see our two versions of BBQ Seasoning!

    Spritzing slows the cooking process. Why do you do this?

    • @MidSouthFlavor
      @MidSouthFlavor  5 років тому +5

      There are so many mixed opinions about spritzing. I think spritzing with apple juice adds a flavor to the bark. And I do think it help to keep the meat moist. Some people have different opinions and that is perfectly fine. That's the joy of cooking....there are so many ways to do it and everyone's taste is different! :)

    • @MidSouthFlavor

    What is original smoke temp set at?

    • @MidSouthFlavor
      @MidSouthFlavor  6 років тому +1

      The "High Smoke" setting on this grill fluctuates somewhere around 180-215. With the temp fluctuating, it produces more smoke than at a constant temp. But because of this....I use a temp probe on about everything!
