Gotta be Duane and Dickey for me but my God there are just sooo many great guitarists in Southern rock!! Almost like 80's metal in that you have to have at minimum 1 guy that rips and preferably 2 or 3! lol My other tops are Toy, Hughie, B. Crain, Allen Collins, D. Hlubek, Gibbons, Billy Jones and C.Hargrett. Thanks buddy for doing this stuff!! love it!!
Duane Allman and Dickey Betts are tops to me but I’ll give a shout out to some lesser recognized but deserving players: Dan Toler, Charlie Hargrett, Duane Roland. Also the great Steve Gaines.
All the greats have been mentioned, but I think Don Barnes and Jeff Carlisi deserve a place on this countdown. Don is one of the best vocalist to step up to the mic, and their guitar playing was as good as any!.....
Buf! I agree w you on the BEST lineup of the ABB! I think for me it might be because of my age. The ABB had gotten back together after almost a 10 yr hiatus. They came out w 7turns and it was soooo exciting!!! I am 53 now and so I saw the ABB just before the 81' breakup( Brothers of the Road tour) yikes!! and to have them back with such power!! They were redhot!! I saw them a number of times throughout that period it was great!
All guitarists in all the southern bands were and are great players. Some may be household names for us boomers others not so much, but they all could play.
I saw the last show Dickey Betts played with ABB in Columbia,SC at the Township in, I think was April of 2000. Somebody who could have been included this show is Elvin Bishop and on my list would be Derek Trucks as well. There are several others , like Johnny Winter but he is in another class all by himself. This was highly entertaining, Thanks Michael!!
Allen Collins .. Duane Allman .. Steve Gaines .. Gary Rossington .. Dickie Betts .. In that order
Duane Allmans playing is seriously second to none❤🔥🔥❤️

Elvin was in my top 10, but we only did 5.
If you notice I was wearing my Elvin Bishop t-shirt... LOL
@@TheRebyll True, I did notice and that is what reminded me of Elvin Bishop and his considerable talents! LOL!!
Lonnie Mack might have influenced southern rock guitarists more than any other person . And he could sing better than just about anybody
Allen Collins is underrated
Hughie t
