great video! Funny I found this video, I actually messaged you in a discussion board on another platform a few months ago, I think it was before you started MUTU, but i remeMber you encouraged me to try it. I have finally bought it (I am in week 4), its great so far. I will go over to your blog to read the comparison that you did. THANX!
thanks for sharing your journey. I am totally with you on the frustration to not be able to workout anymore. I was not able to make that commitment yet (still working out) but I have made changes to the routines to fit my feelings about the exercises and I knew about the crunches and V-ups being bad for about 10 years so those are out for a long time already, I am still doing planks and push-ups . One more frustration (and you kinda mentionned it) the medical community is really not knowledgeable!!! I had checked the MUtu system last year, but will look further into it as I am not sure the Tupler is right for me. I can't wear the splint as it hurts. Something got torn during my pregrancy not the linea alba...something else) and everytime I wear the splint it opens up the wound. I wish I had someone to consult to check it live.
Thank you for your review Edith, I really appreciate your feedback. After doing some research, along with your review, I am going to do the Mutu Program
Hi! I'd like to thank you for your testimony. Because of your video I went to find more about the mutu system and it really helped me with my diastasis. I also first started with the tupler technique, but it didn't help me as much as mutu. Once again, thanks a lot!
Thank you for sharing your views and so good to hear your story about your own diastasis journey. I SO agree it is a health problem, rather than a cosmetic issue which some address it as.
Hi there, how are you doing now? Great video. Have you heard of the Tummy Team? I am working with them at the moment and really hopeful. They seem great.
My story is the same as yours. I am almost 10 years out from my last baby and I still have a 2 finger gap. I am just now researching alternatives to surgery because I am having severe back pain and loss of bladder control. I can do a million crunches and never break a sweat. 😂 I am going to look into these options. Thanks for this video!
It is about 2 1/2 fingers. Thanks for sharing the website. I have another question. You recommend to go first with Tupler and after Mutu. Let's suppose I can afford both. Do you think that going straight to Mutu won't totally fix the problem? Why do you recommend doing both? Again thanks for helping and sharing!!!
Hey! Actually if I were to do it again with a 2 1/2 finger width, which is what I originally had, I would just do Mutu. I share my experiences with both because that is what I did and it worked. I didn't know about Mutu when I was doing Tupler. But I looked into Mutu because I realized Tupler was not enough. So yes, just go straight to Mutu :)
Thanks for this! I just realized tonight that I have Diastasis Recti. I've been doing BB programs - 21DF, T25, and just started Fix extreme today and could not figure out why I was having issues with my belly. Someone else in my facebook group mentioned it and I started to wonder. I did a little online research and did the finger test and mine is at a 3. I am feeling so discouraged and upset because I've been doing these workout programs and worry that I have just been making it worse! Plus I love these programs and was making progress for weight loss and toning up other parts of my body. Now I don't know what to do. I saw MuTu on another blog as well as Tupler and I'm happy to see this comparison. Would you recommend continuing with my programs and just not doing advanced ab moves and planks? Or should I hold off on everything? Can you do MuTu while also doing other exercise programs?
Hey Julie! Talk to your Beachbody Coach since he/she may know more details about your situation and the program you are wanting to do. Personally, I would hold off temporarily while you learn how to care for your core before combining programs.
Awesome! My story is similar to yours with the tupler technique. I'm getting excited about starting mutu soon. I'd love to see your before And after pics.
i need your help to know which package i should buy. Just to give you an extra infos my last baby is 4 months and im breast feeding. i need to see your before and after pictures i just click your private group.
Have u life's heavy weights since closing the gap? I used a squeem and it closed the gap entirely but when I went to the gym and started to workout again immediately within the first exercise my gap opened up again
Thanks. I made my DR worse with crunches, etc. so I am starting with Tupler to close the gap. I'm afraid of another full exercise program, even with MuTu, when my gap has gotten worse. But, after my gap is closed and I've gotten a feel for my transverse muscle I'm definitely starting MuTu. Appreciate your thoughts.
How are you doing? If you are able to afford both programs you should definitely go for it. I did exactly what you are wanting to do (mostly because I did not know about Mutu at the time). I was very ready to start Mutu once I finished Tupler and my DR was closed. Doing Mutu was like a breeze and yet challenging in some ways when I was strengthening my core. It was an excellent follow up to Tupler that really prepared me for being able to do other exercise programs.
Hi Edith, I was wondering if you would recommend the Tupler technique for somebody who has a diastasis recti and a small umbilical hernia? I can't seem to find anything on this. Thank you
I'm sorry I hadn't responded way back when you first asked. For a hernia Tupler should still be fine although Mutu addresses the whole trunk and pelvis- all the muscles that are connected. Check out the Tummy Team splints
Hi Edith! I was researching the Tupler method for my diastasis recti and found your video. Do you recommend that one try the Tupler first then move to Mutu as you happened to do? Or is is best to begin Mutu at the get go? Thanks!!
Dawn Reilly Hey! I have heard great things about just Mutu. But if your DR is large you may benefit from Tupler in order to heal it faster. But you can still do it with Mutu- just remember that the larger and deeper it is the longer it takes to heal. Tupler helps give that awareness feeling so you know what you are supposed to feel, and Mutu really helps solidy if with all the alignment and whole body exercises.
I really enjoy pilates. Do you do any Pilates exercises? Are the other exercises for the core from beach body? I'm not familiar with Beach body. Thanks!
I have not done too much Pilates although I do have a pilates video :). I actually just ordered the new program*-- from Beachbody that just came out called +9"Piyo." It's a combination of pilates and yoga. I haven't actually done it yet so I'm excited to try it and see how it works for someone with a current DR or someone with a history of DR. All of Beachbody's exercises will target the core. They offer amazing results because they are extreme (although some are easier than others). Having said that, if you have a DR you want to have stability before strengthening it with one of Beachbody's workouts or you may end up making it worse instead of getting better. How deep/wide is your DR?
Hello, Great video!! I see that your DR isn't as bad as most women with only having a 2. I am at a 4. I'm ready to do something about this but I don't want to waste money or Tupler Technique.... Do you think one program is better than the other per how bad your DR is? And could you share your FB link? I would love to see your before and after pics! Thanks for your help.
I know of a couple of women who have had a DR of 6 and greater and were able to close it. On the Mutu site there is actually a testimonial of a lady whose DR was 10 and she was able to close it quite a bit (not sure that she completely closed it but I think she was close and she was going to continue the journey to fully close it). I have seen people with great results when they do both the Tupler and Mutu programs either together or Tupler first then Mutu. If I were to recommend just one program I would go with Mutu even if your DR is bigger. If you only do Mutu (or even if you do both Tupler and Mutu) it may take you longer to close your gap simply because yours is wider and it takes time to heal. But it can definitely be done and I have a friend who came close to closing it with Tupler followed by Mutu and her DR was a 6 (she closed it mostly with Tupler but got stronger and tighter with Mutu). But if you only do one program do Mutu because it addresses your whole body (alignment, pelvic floor, glutes, etc) and that will results in more permanent results and will make you much stronger. Here's the link to my FB group where I have my pictures: facebook.com/groups/DiastasisRectiTeamBeachbodySupport/
Thank you very much for sharing! I will start soon! There is not time to lose! If there any other way we can communicate? I'll probably will ask for more recommendations ☺️ I'm sorry if I sound rude sometimes. English isn't my first language. Have a blessed day!
hi Edith! I'm now going through the same situation. My youngest is 14 months so I've been working out very hard for a while now. I've lost all the pregnancy wright and even more. I've gain a lot of strength and endurance, but my mommy pouch is still there. I did stop and feel very sad thinking I will lose everything I've reached. You said in a previous comment that you don't miss crunches at all. That there are so many exercises to do. Do you mind helping me. Because if I can crunch, plank, twist, I feel like: what can I do? Do you have any video related to the new exercises you do? Thanks so much for sharing! This is a problem that every woman should be talked about before the last stages of pregnancy so you don't figure it out when the baby is at school...
How deep/wide is your DR? Crunches will always be a no-no, but you can eventually do planks and pushups. Not sure about twists (I probably will do them but make sure I can engage my core and stop or slow down if I need to). The intensives in Mutu show you some great core alternatives that are not crunches. I also like this page for ab workouts. Some you can't do, and even if you are in shape you are better off starting with beginner ab workouts to make sure you are engaging your core before moving on to a more advanced workout. I would consider a plank a more advanced exercise. You wouldn't want to do it if your DR is wide, but you could do it once your DR is small or closed to strengthen your core. I just did Mutu and then I moved on to Beachbody programs with small modifications and eventually no modifications other than skipping the crunches.
I'm guessing it's 3 to 4 fingers wide. I haven't confirmed it, since I haven't had anyone else see it. I'm still doing research on Mutu system. When I found out I had DR, I stopped working out and now I'm feel like I'm digressing.
I completely understand that and remember that feeling. If you eat healthy and walk every day and do squats it also makes a big difference! Your whole body is connected. Of course exercises that will help you heal a diastasis will also help. It will get better :)
With a hernia I recommend you look into the Tummy Time splint. Mutu would be beneficial, but just the Core- not the intensive. I have heard of stories of hernias going away.
Hey momma, I just got my tupler splint today and I'm super frustrated with it, which is what brought me here. Then i found out that the information also has a price tag on it, that I can not afford at the moment. (the splint was from a friend who noticed how this was affecting my life and my heart.) I am a 36 yr old mother of three and pray to be blessed one more time, but I have to fix this first. I would love some suggestions on exercises or yoga poses to help. My intuition tells me that plank may be a good idea, and I dont want to chance hurting anything either. Thank you for your info! Off to the website!
Hey there! I'm sorry that this DR is also affecting your life and heart. I'm going to send you a helpful link on youtube. It's not the same as having a full program like Tupler or Mutu but it does focus on healing your core. A plank is an advanced move that you may be able to do in the future but you want to build up your strength to be able to get there safely without opening your gap again. Also, Mutu is going to have a Black Friday sale 40% off! So maybe that will be more doable for you. ua-cam.com/play/PLDADCF5E077D261AB.html

Thanks. I actually just deactivated my account. I can follow you on here though.
Actually, I was really bummed when I found out I couldn't do crunches or Pilates 100 anymore, so your story gives me hope.
I don't miss crunches anymore or Pilates 100! There are so many other ways to strengthen your entire core (all three layers of muscle).
