I'm 30 and I must admit this looks damn fun. These folks raised their kids & worked their whole lives. They deserve to enjoy themselves.
Yeah, the easiest economy know to a generation gets it easy like this.
I went to The Villages recently. Found it to be a little Hollywood High School. It was nice, crazy cool golf courses and landscaping, clean and nice but very clique like. Its not for me, too rich for my wallet and wouldnt live there if I was rich. It was interesting to visit but not everyone will fit in or like it.
Seeing this makes me want to stay home.

We live in the villages full time...We love the peace and quiet....And enjoy the beautiful birds....We worked over 30 years, and love the fruit of our labor....We enjoy dancing and having fun...We enjoy drinking soda an sweet tea...

I’m glad you showed the people “south of 60.” My husband and I watched the welcome video for the Villages and his concern was that everyone else was “too old.” So it was nice to see the lively younger ones lol.
It’s a mixed bag down here. There are plenty of us under 60 down here too.
I expected to find a lot of old people with walkers and nurses helping them. In the 12 years I've been here I think I may have seen 1.
There are lots of younger retirees! You just have to look! And really not that far!
weird, my hubby and i are 47 and 53 and we look WAY younger than the less than 60s here, who im assuming are 55-59? maybe it's the non-aryan blood making us age well.
It feels like a cruise type atmosphere if that is what you like.
I'm only 37 but i want to live there. My aunt lives in the villages and loves it

We live in Marsh Bend and love it! We take our golf cart across the Water Lily bridge and Brownwood bridge to get to the Brownwood Square in 10-15 minutes! Love our neighbors and everyone is so happy here😁
Thats because there are more alcoholics there than anywhere else in Florida. At last count at least 22,000.

I've lived in Clearwater, FL all my life, 64 years now. These people missed out on what I did here growing up. They are all from up north. Why did they move down here? I've had a boat since I was 5 years old. Slept on Sand Key and the islands with my girlfriend when I was a teenager. I still go to the islands out here with my boat. It's nice. I don't need Disney or the villages. That to me is a façade.

Most people who negatively view The Villages are almost always never been there. It's really odd that the diversity subject comes up because it isn't The Villages that picked their residence by race, color or political view. I like what the lady in pink said and her expression (at the 16:22 mark), "If anybody wants to come down to see The Villages, c'mon!" Most people in The Villages, if not all, just want to have an active and enjoy their retirement, period. Thank you for posting.

We bought last August after renting for a few years. Love The Villages. You really can't explain it to someone. They have to experience it themselves. Once they do, The Villages sells itself.
You guys should do more of these interviews. I think it would be cool to get reviews of the stores and restaurants too.

I like to refer to myself as a "homebody." I like being at home. That being said....I have a lot of interests and hobbies. I would LOVE to take a bonsai class, painting class, quilting class, knitting etc. I love walking my dog. I love eating out. See where I'm going with this? I think as we age we are less judgmental about people's lifestyles so I'm sure you would find your place in this community. Have you ever been there? It's REALLY PRETTY and beautifully maintained. Also there's a vibe with this place. You get a sense that people are happy there. This is #1 on our list of retirement places to live. I have grandkids that I'm very involved with and would have to give that up so I'm not ready to do that just yet. Perhaps someday. Regards!

LOL. I notice a lot of public schoolteachers and military. IOW, people who have lived their lives getting paid out of the taxpayer trough and probably have decent pensions. I actually know people who live here. Northerners who cant wait to get out of the cold and want to play golf. Disney for retirees is about right. Which is not something you want to think too deeply about.

Maybe I missed it but no one mentioned the fact that The Villages is set up so that everything is convenient. We can get to our hospital, doctors, theaters and shopping by golf cart which can cut the cost of having 2 cars for some couples. It encourages independence as we age. And even though the population number sounds large, each village is set up in a way that we don't feel jammed together and there is a sense of a small community. Additionally, the cost of the homes ranges so that just about anyone can afford to look at homes within their budget.

Central Florida's upscale "trailer park" for Trumpers that doesn't allow trailers. If you don't worship at the altar of Trump, stay away from the Villages.

@@richarddelagarde5194, we've been here for a week and see what you're saying, some conservative folk. But no one has thrown it in our face yet.
Call me weird if you like but I consider myself a friendly person and get along well with everyone in my neighborhood but I have really NO desire to socialize with them. I stop and talk with them and wave when passing even have fed cats or dogs for them but I have always kept it on just a causal basis. Much like most work relationships, friendly but not best friends. I guess that could change if the right person or couple came our way but so far I prefer to socialize with family and friends who don't live down the street. This video did nothing to attract me to The Villages in fact quite the opposite. That's just me!

Mt parents lived in the Villages they bought a boat and where they kept it was far from Villages, and they had to leave.

Auburn Indiana, home of an awesome car museum. Next door to Pokagon State Park if you are interested in a toboggan run in January or February in which case, you probably aren't interested in moving to The Villages.

Ok so you interviewed the party side of The Villages, (and you missed the boat, everyone was in Spanish Springs for the Cinco De Mayo festivities), next time go to a Rec Center or pickleball courts or one of the Publix shopping centers and interview sober people. You will get the same positive responses, but it won't make The Villages look like a drunken 24/7 party.
Yes, there is a lot of partying going on, but during the day you will see thousands of people out, walking, jogging, bicycling, golfing etc. A healthy lifestyle, with socializing and a party atmosphere, with or without alcohol.
I agree...they should do a follow up video showing people playing pickleball. golfing, playing bocce or biking. Maybe find an outdoor yoga class to film.

I loved this video and appreciate all of those you interviewed. Considering where to move in the next year. I am a white female but I also appreciate diversity so I’m thankful for the ladies that you interviewed that were African-American. Nobody is keeping it from being diverse except for the people that do not want to go there. If more African-Americans would go there and rent or by then it would become more diverse. It’s a very simple thing rather than blaming Trump or anyone else for that matter the blame lies on the people themselves. I attended a 99% African American church for 20 years because I chose to and because I reached out and they were all like family to me. It’s all about our own choices so I really wish people would stop blaming other people for situations- it’s so juvenile!!

It’s like living in an amusement park with a little of high school thrown in with cliques and playing lots of sports. You finish your life out like you started in your teens hanging out with friends at the amusement park but this time you live there but with no parents. Then eventually it’s time to move on to the next level of existence ie heaven.
If I was single, I'd be there snagging cougars and ride around on a golf cart. Great way to spend the golden years. 😀

I was wondering about people of color as I have been watching videos about the Villages and have not seen anyone but white folks. So it was nice to seen some peeps of color. Also, the small v8 under the hood....priceless.

No pet restrictions here. Unless your renting but buying I have seen all different size of dogs. Also I dog sit too I have mostly sit medium/large dogs.
Its definitely one of those things that varies community to community.

The under 60 is really nice. I guess you really have to enjoy warm, muggy summers and lots of bugs at certain times of the year. Looks pretty cool, but the houses I've seen are way too close to one another. Also saw some videos that people are saying that they keep expanding all the time when they were told otherwise.

I watched "Some Kind of Heaven" last night and it was a fascinating documentary because I had not even known a place like this existed. Very fascinating community. Something that seemed pretty obvious to me while watching the documentary, but is not talked about in other UA-cam videos about The Villages until I came across this video, is the lack of diversity. I'm glad those two African-American ladies talked about it because it was something I was very curious about too. I have since learned from census information that 98% of the people in The Villages is white, which is consistent with the whole boomers nostalgia theme for the design of the community that harkens back to the days when whites were the overwhelming majority in America. Also makes sense that 68% of The Villages voted for Trump in the last election given Trump's racially nostalgic slogan ("Make America Great Again"). It does seem like living in The Villages is like living in a bubble but clearly that's not necessarily a bad thing depending on who you talk to.

It is Trump and his supporters at The Villages wearing MAGA hats who systematically target us foreigners, minorities, Latinos, Asians, Jews... etc., not your anti-foreigner, anti-minority, anti-Latino, anti-Asian, Anti-Semitic, anti-Indian, anti-White DNC & Co.'s paramilitary, imperialist, genocidal BLM/Antifa brownshirts from gringolandia.

Shocker! The Villages is 98.2% white and black is only .03%. Something is very troubling about this race mix. Mostly white, mostly Republican and no other race is really represented??
