I am a treasure hunter. So in addition to metal detecting, I go mudlarking at sites in New York City. Think of mudlarking as metal detecting without a metal detector.

When I tell people how many gold rings I've found they call me a liar. I never don't dig a target. A broken gold ring sounds just like a nail on my Excalibur 2. I've had times when I swore I was digging another pull tab only to find a gold ring in my scoop.
DIG EVERY SINGLE SIGNAL.
I have found 15 GOLD rings this year so far (rings only) and I always do better with wet ground than dry hard as hell cement soil . Central Texas soil when wet is like moist cake but dang it is truly cement when dry.😊
I hunt in the water. Specifically, where the cruise ship passengers and newlywed tourists swim here in Hawaii. I focus on entrance points and especially in front of the lifeguard towers.
I use the Excalibur 11 as well and I also dig every signal. You would be shock at what you could miss otherwise
Excalibur 2 is the best!, this year alone 27- 14k rings, 15 -10k gold rings, over 20 silver rings, tons of coins, love the Excalibur 2, over 10 years of durable service.
@@marklanders630Beautiful! I’m going to check your channel for videos. I hope you have some! Must be gorgeous
Thank you for taking time out of your day to help inform all of us noobs along with the veterans of this awesome hobby !!! You da man merril ! 😊
Don't forget the beach volleyball courts... Sunscreen, sweat and jumping around = lost stuff. I've gotten some good gold rings and things there.
Great tips Merrill and congrats again on Becoming a new ZP Ambassador
Places where people dress up for weddings. There are parks where people like to take photos for weddings. On the beach there is what I call a play zone, behind towel line where rings often fall.
my one and only gold ring i found ended up being right behind the towel line next to a boat on a small beach that got crowded by people day after day during my vacation
i think you're right, that and the water is where stuff ends up.
Thanks for the tip. I’m new at this
I really enjoyed this video Merrill. I've been metal detecting for 9 months. Last week I found 6 gold rings. It was unbelievable!! I found 4 one night on a baseball field. The other two I found on a hill in a park Monday and Tuesday. Very exciting! Thanks for your videos. I've learned a lot from you. Jordan from Toronto.
Congratulations!!
Wow! Congrats!!! I can’t wait until I find one
Remember folks Finding Gold never gets old!
Couldn’t agree more Merrill. My best dirt location has been elementary schools due to female staff losing wings while supervising outside. Thank God for recess!
Ah! Great advice!
Thank you Merrill.
Great info. I love to finds rings and get them back to the owners. It is such a joy. Thanks for sharing.
Thar be GOLD out there to be found.....Well done to the new ambassador
Your right about baseball fields I found a massive 18.5 gram 14k ring right Infront of a dugout entrance rang up 21 high tone on equinox just like a zinc penny or aluminum bottle cap
Oh yeah! Congratulations
I’d like to see Merrill dressed as inspector Clouseau metal detecting with his XP Deus machine. 😂Congrats as being an XP ambassador. Thank you for all your tips and valuable information. _/👍
I found gold in a temporarily drained lake where boats park for people to swim.
A guy using a Compass detector found 35 gold rings ten years prior, and the pawn shop gave him a dollar a piece for them. Ka-ching! 😱
New York Nuggets!!!! Yeah baby!
Don’t forget on the beach ‘ where the birds feet cross paths ‘is treasure..
Pee-ing down straight on this side of the Pond, too, just now Merrill. Good! Let in rain; better that, than snow for grass leys. Good info for ' the beach boys' and girls.
Thanks for the pointers ❤ XP is lucky to have you!
Great info Merrill! Well done.
All great advice dude best of luck on your next adventure
you're a living legend

Nice IHP Jeremy😀👍
Fantastic 👏.
Great video Merrill, your channel has proven to be useful for a novice metal detectorist, keep up the great work best of luck from upstate ny.
Hey Josh! Fellow upstater here!
@@MetalDetectingDonna Hey donna sorry just seeing your comment, Nice to meet you! i'm currently in the capital district of upstate
As the XP ambassador, will you be attending the RCM metal detecting rally and Detectial in the UK, September 2024?
You have rain, in Germany I have since 8 days snow 😢, no digging possible
Good Job.
In Russia and some other countries the wedding ring is worn on the left hand.
I guess that it's also the cultural identity in your area that has a huge impact on if you are finding gold or not. Here in middle/ northern Europe the is no such thing as class rings and - other then in north America - engagement rings are not that important and often made of silver. For many husbands it's culturally not even that important to wear a wedding ring here. Also if you are wearing expensive jewellery on a everyday occasion many people will judge you as a show-off, so the more expensive jewellery is mostly kept at home.
I know a lot of metal detectorists in the area who dig practically every signal, but they hardly ever find gold. That's why I enjoy your videos so much, it shows me some finds wich I can't really expect in my area.
Nice meets😮😮
Love your videos, they are very helpful and I was wondering about a coil. I have a Garrett AT Pro and I was wanting to put the Viper AT coil on it. Any thoughts? Thank you.
Thank you! I am an ambassador for XP, ask my friend Indiana Tones who now manages Iratemetaldetectors.
Now that you're on the inside so to speak, any plans by XP for an elliptical coil for the Deus 2??
What’s your thoughts on deep scan detectors
Nice Merrill but were do I FINd THE GoLD TEETH!😲😆🤙
My GRILLZ are my favorite find perhaps. They were found in the swimming section of a beach. They rang up like aluminum foil !
Deus 2 confusion.... Shallow water hunting- ankle to neck deep. Which plug? Red or black? Black only good to 3 FEET! That's right, they rate at 1 meter! Red plug causes internal pressure out of the water. So if I hunt patterns in the water ankle to waist, to neck deep, won't the black plug be close to 3 foot depth? Or under leak causing pressure due to surf? Can't use Red plug out of water. I do not want to limit my search pattern to plug choice. I just do not understand the thinking of the black plug only good to 3 feet??? So far, Deus has not responded to my concern, and if it's not answered by someone, I may dump the Deus. I lost 2 3030s and 3 Equinox to leaking in shallow water/surf. Since you're their ambassador, perhaps you might make a vid on this?
Ml equinox 600 is what I want to get
Best spot I have found lots is the exit points from fields. People digging in pockets to get keys. Yes found lots of keys and a really old tear drop diamond women's ring. And 67% what? Why watch this educational videos and your not a subscriber is beyond me. Thank you Merrill
That’s great advice! Thank you
Might want to copyright sushi unlocked, ect 🤷🏻♂️
Rubber matting , fake grass ,all a detecting nightmare 😢😢😢😢
Hi! It’s legal to detect these areas!? Ty
Hi Merrill, Why don't you cash in those rings, instead of hoarding them? Gold is at an all time high. You could invest the money, or at least be collecting interest on it. Good luck, and Cheers!
As gold values climb, he is earning more than interest. Gold is a better investment to hold on to until you really need the money.
Keep hoarding lol
Fire and Theft is also a serious consideration, or at least for me, it is✌.@@MD-NWWI
He used to do a monthly
“How to make a million dollars metal Detecting” videos
They were really good! They totaled change, UA-cam income, other income ( stocks from clad)
I really miss them
He mentioned he would cash in for retirement money then
Hey so what do we call our selfs ?
Metal detectors
Or metal detectorist???
I’m confused lol haha
Great info, now point me to the civil war camps😂 literally only found like 4 pieces of gold in 25 years of hunting (all civil war era rings) I reckon I’m just never hunting places where modern gold is lost.
How do you find Civil War camps? Please be as detailed as you can. I would really appreciate your help! I’m in the Saratoga Springs New York area and on occasion I have found what I believe or Civil War era bullets. I would really love some advice on how to find the camps. Thank you in advance for your help
@@MetalDetectingDonna There is a lifetime of info to share there, some basics would be look for a body of water along the old roads (armies needed water.) With that said, I can’t imagine many civil war camps up around Sarasota. I’m sure there were militia drill and muster grounds but as for an actual civil war encampment I would say the chances are slim up there. With that said however, you can also check the official records of the civil war and your local library for any mentions of Sarasota during the civil war. Good luck!
@@BirdDogg Thank you for your help.
Saratoga battlefield is near me. Not hunt-able but the surrounding private lands are with permission.
Thank you again
I be gettin gold by breaking and entering them homes meanwhile the owners are not there, or sleepin. it's been good so far, start with the neighbors and work out from there.
Rain MEH
Can you sell me your Manticore 😊
Screw it, just cut through the astro turf
Lol
And that’s how you find sushi 🍣 🕳️👨🦯
What is the " i " button asking for a friend. 🤔.
Lol! Hi friend!
