zunächst wünsche ich Euch allen im neuen Jahre alles erdenklich Gute und vor allem Glück und Gesundheit.
Ich habe mir heute einen Titel der Flippers herausgesucht, der 1989 veröffentlicht wurde. Ich möchte Euch auch ein klein wenig über die Flippers erzählen.
Im Jahre 1964 gründeten Manfred Durban, Claus Backhaus, Franz Halmich, Manfred Mössner, Manfred Hehl und Hans Springer aus Knittlingen in Baden-Württemberg die Dancing Band, welche sich bereits ein Jahr später in Dancing Show Band umbenannte. 1965 wurde Hans Springer durch Bernd Hengst ersetzt. Die Gruppe spielte am Wochenende zum Tanz auf, so dass sie sich bald einen Namen in der Region machen konnte.
1969 komponierten die Bandmitglieder Bernd Hengst und Franz Halmich das Lied Weine nicht, kleine Eva, das als Single unter dem neuen Bandnamen The Flippers, ein Jahr später dann unter Die Flippers, veröffentlicht wurde. Das Lied wurde zum sensationellen Erfolg in Hörfunk und Fernsehen und gehört bis heute zu den Evergreens des deutschen Schlagers. Man veröffentlichte dann den Titel Nur mit dir allein, der aber an den Erfolg des Vorgängers nicht anschließen konnte. Die Gruppe nahm daraufhin 1970 die dritte Single Sha La La, I Love You auf, eine Coverversion des Songs Cha-La-La, I Need You, den die Niederländische Band The Shuffles im Jahr zuvor herausgebracht hatte. Die Single wurde wieder ein großer Erfolg, sodass ebenfalls 1970 bereits die erste Langspielplatte Die Flippers erschien.
In den folgenden Jahren nahm die Gruppe zahlreiche Titel und Langspielplatten auf, gab Konzerte im Inland und im benachbarten Ausland und avancierte zur erfolgreichsten Schlagerband der 1970er Jahre. 1973 wurde Jean Frankfurter - mit einigen Unterbrechungen - Produzent der Flippers. 1974 verließ Claus Backhaus die Gruppe. Ende der 1970er Jahre sanken die Plattenverkäufe, doch die Band gab weiterhin Konzerte im süddeutschen Raum. Am 31. Dezember 1979 verließ Roland Bausert die Gruppe. Ihm folgte Albin Bucher im Jahr 1980 als neuer Sänger und der Wechsel zum neuen Produzententeam Mick Hannes und Walter Gerke. Doch auch die neue Besetzung brachte nicht mehr den großen Erfolg der 1970er Jahre.
1988 gingen die Flippers erstmals auf Tournee. Ab den 1990er Jahren folgten dann jährliche Tourneen. Ihr größtes Konzert gaben sie 2004 in der Westfalenhalle in Dortmund vor 17.000 Zuschauern. Von 1987 bis 2007 waren sie 13 Mal unter den Top 10 der Deutschen Musikcharts.

Today I picked out a Flippers track that was released in 1989. I would also like to tell you a little bit about the pinball machines.
In 1964 Manfred Durban, Claus Backhaus, Franz Halmich, Manfred Mössner, Manfred Hehl and Hans Springer from Knittlingen in Baden-Württemberg founded the Dancing Band, which was renamed the Dancing Show Band a year later. In 1965 Hans Springer was replaced by Bernd Hengst. The group played to dance on the weekend, so they could soon make a name for themselves in the region. In 1969 they composed the song Weine nicht, kleine Eva, which was released as a single under the new band name The Flippers, and a year later under Die Flippers. The song became a sensational success on radio and television and is still one of the evergreens of German hits today. The title Only with you alone was then published, but it did not match the success of its predecessor. The group then recorded the third single Sha La La, I Love You, in 1970, a cover version of the song Cha-La-La, I Need You, which the Dutch band The Shuffles had released the year before. The single was again a great success, so that in 1970 the first long-playing record Die Flippers was released.
He was followed by Albin Bucher in 1980 as the new singer and the move to the new producer team Mick Hannes and Walter Gerke. But even the new line-up no longer brought the great success of the 1970s. In the course of 1984 Albin Bucher and then Franz Halmich left the group. After Bucher's departure, he was briefly replaced by his predecessor Roland Bausert.
In 1985, in cooperation with the new production team Karl-Heinz Rupprich and Uwe Busse, the album Auf Rote Rosen Fall Tänen appeared. This album heralded the group's comeback the following year, earning the Flippers first gold record. In 1986 The Red Sun of Barbados became a huge hit.
In 1988 the Flippers went on tour for the first time. Annual tours followed from the 1990s. They gave their biggest concert in 2004 in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund in front of 17,000 spectators. From 1987 to 2007 they were 13 times in the top 10 of the German music charts.
