  • (14 Dec 2013) A vehicle carrying the body of former South African president Nelson Mandela left Pretoria's 1 Military Hospital on Saturday.
The coffin - draped in a national flag - was transported to Waterkloof Military Airbase ahead of the anti-apartheid icon being flown to his rural home in Qunu, Eastern Cape, where he will be buried on Sunday.
Mandela, who was jailed for 27 years during white rule and later became South Africa's first black president, died on 5 December in his Johannesburg home after a long illness at the age of 95.
Britain's Prince Charles, some African leaders and celebrities including Oprah Winfrey are expected to attend Sunday's state funeral with Mandela family members and South African leaders.
