As the daughter of a mother who’s well known for being bad with hammers (hitting fingers, missing nails) the shaping of the shoe scares me. Every time you go hammering down next to your bare hand I can’t help but to tense up and hold my breath. 😂😂

Same here, Anna. I'm also very adept at burning myself, so while watching these videos I'm always like: yup and right areound here is where I'd burn myself and then I see him hammering the shoe and I'm like and right there is where I'd hit a finger/hand. 😂

You hit yourself every now and then but you learn pretty quick after a few blunders how to not get yourself. :) And unless you really burn yourself you don't notice the metal scale so much. I am a bit of a butterfinger and I've dropped many shoes on my shoe and lit my boot on fire. HAHA

When you were talking about the fluid buildup in the abscess hoof I had a flashback to when I slammed my finger in a dicer. Had a nasty cut in the middle of the nail and I'd have to press down on half of it to let the blood drain out else it'd get real painful. Can't even imagine how much that'd hurt on something you walk on everyday.
I'm sure that horse is much happier now, keep up the good work.

Someone else may have said this: the hollow in the top of a brick is also called a ‘frog’. Early bricks often had a rounded indent made by a lump built into the wooden former which looked a little like a crouching frog. The hoof frog, wide at the base and tapering, looks a bit like a frog’s back too.
