- Ernst and Young EY faced backlash after Anna Sebastian Perayil lost her life. While EY Chairman acknowledged the tragedy and pledged support and improvements, however the question remains will there be a change or will this toxic work culture continue, leading to such unfortunate loss of life?
I had read about this girl through social media. I am myself from Pune She was definitely a loyal employee that she sacrificed her life for a company. The employer very nicely brushed off his responsibility. From my personal experience I would say to everyone. I worked in a reputed shipping company,but the work culture was extremely toxic. My health had gone for a toss. I had to finally quit my job bcz if something happens to me then who will take care of my family after me. Good Chaye that u raised this issue.
Even I have faced too much pressure and had health issues.. was dependent on that job but God helped me with a job and i moved there.. feeling better now.. I hope ppl get help they need🙏

My husband has been into IT for 20 years, and i have witnessed many cases like this.
Not only that, my husband works continuously from morning to night, and most of the time, he doesn't have time to eat, and even for a bath 😢😢😢, continuous meetings, and stress , no rest . I have to take extra care of his health by offering nutritious food , health supplements, water .... etc.
I also faced almost the same toxic work culture, thanks to a super toxic manager. However, I quit not bcz I didn't value the job or the salary but I value my mental peace and sanity above everything else. Rip, Anna🌹
Hi chaye . Ye mere husband k sath b ho raha hai ..last 4 - 5 months se itna stress hai office ka ki unko pure body par rashes ho rahe hai roj .. salary kitne years hogye badhi hi nhi hai . Work load itna hai ki thag jate hai .. jab new company open Hui thi to yaha k boss dhyan dete the .. networking company hai .. ab ye haalat hai ki unko London branch handle kar te boss ab employee k pass nhi dekhte.. par wahi hai paapi pet ab 17 years hogye hai us company me ab Jaye to jaye kaha .. but ye dard saba jaise log nhi samjhte ..
Sorry to hear about your husband’s stress level.. Support him and make him understand time to move on .. 17 years is huge experience and he will get hired with much more pay somewhere else…. Don’t leave this job until secure another one
Girls ke liye over work ko glorify Kiya jata h..... Unke upr iss patriarchal society me khud ko prove krne ke liye bhut kuch Krna pdta h. Not to glorify 12 to13 hr for employees.
RIP Anna .and ha ye sach he ki india me provisional period me workers ko gadha majduri karne per majboor Kiya jata he because they can't leave job and for confirmation they have to do sach work which is not in their work profile to get permanent letter 😢
Much needed topic to be addressed in todays time. 🙏 excellent podcast chaye. 👏 i think it is high time people should realise that they need to prioritize themselves first . An unhappy person cannot handle her professional or personal life. I really feel so sad for her parents , its heartbreaking 💔

These companies are so toxic, innocent people are exploited to a high level. I have been through similar situations but luckily came out of it . Even today i am not happy in my work place but due to financial burden i need to work. May god give strength to her parents
And todays truth is that many people of this age or more are stuck in toxic companies! In my team itself it has become a routine to insult juniors and overload them with work. I try to help my juniors as much as i can but there is no end.
Just one thing work only till a point where your health is not affected. Companies can get your replacement very next day but your parents won’t, don’t over work please 🙏

I don't know whether you know the fact or not but EY ke higher authority ka reply apko sunke aschary hoga he said " hamare yaha join hoke usko sirf chaar mahine hue hai to aap hamare yaha diya hua work ko reason kese bata sakte ho death ke liye ...kya pata kya reason ho " ( crux of what he said)....ye sunke mujhe samajh nahi a raha kya kahu mai inko...
Work culture employees hi toxic banate hain. What kind of education is this where you do not have the guts to take stand for yourself and believe in you that even if the company throws you out of the job you will be able to do something in your life

Today they have normalised working for 12-13 hours.
Corporate world is inhuman....they expect all to dedicate lives to the organization...we all r going thru this but I have told my daughter not to do mistake that we have done ...dont be under pressure of loosing job...quit if you can't manage. Unfortunately we didn't have anyone to support us so we work like bonded labour. Poor Anna...may her soul rest in peace.
Hi Chaye ,it was very very unfortunate that happened with Anna I wish God would give courage to her family and her soul rest in peace.
I just want to highlight the culture of MNCs and this is the same with almost 99.9999 for all,I have experienced for around 10 years and I had worked with many renounced companies.
The team culture is mostly dependent on managers or team lead and unfortunately they behave very badly with new joiner or junior to them ,there are many types of other toxicity apart from workload like given work on odd timings ,always make you feel that you are good for nothing,and favouritism ,sadly no HR can help you on this because HR always work in manager's input as you mentioned mostly the action is taken against employee not for manager or team lead.
I hope and wish this culture will get resolved and history didn't repeat as happened with Anna.

When I read the letter, i too felt really bad for her parents 💔 I can't imagine how painful it would have been for her parents to go through the last rites of their daughter.
It's not only about the big 4 , I guess each and every person goes through it !! I'm in banking . Back-end work . And honestly they treat you like animals.. since 2 weeks I'm unwell !!! And mrko pta h jiss dinn I'll go mrko sunna padega ..
I suffered from spondylosis cz of work . And the moment I take stress my spondylosis pain gets triggers !!!
And I have stomach issue .. and every report is normal but stomachache occurs cz of stress ..
Please take good care of your health… proper work and life balance is important … I am fed up of this toxic work culture that is continuously impacting the health of employees across all sectors

Its a reality for many. If u r good at something..u r made to overwork ..I want those influencers who complain about their life being hard because they had to change thrice for a photoshoot. And world's most pathetic person sahiba once said..PPL who do jobs go to office sit n come back ..but Influencers need to go around to click pics .even her good for nothing brother and bhabhi told something similar...to have a reality check how difficult existing in this competive world is .
This case is a reality check for many content creators... They don't even realise how blessed they r to earn millions of dollars every year without much effort
